He’s currently trapped in a rather large net, all of his mechanical limbs somehow bound by the material. At his feet lay a few filled out forms, the names ‘Qí Xiǎotiān’ and ‘Lóng Xiǎojiāo’ written at the top of each. At the bottom lay his own signature, shaky, but legible- as legible as it could be in a moment of crisis, anyway.

“Are you referring to making him believe that a person can eat a tree or letting him run loose in the first place when you say that you meant to set him up for this?” He observed MK, as he attempted to subdue the wild shadow monkey, perched atop the shaded staff. admitting simply that he had something to do with this…by accident…and trying to hide his fear from the great sage. “Ask Mei if you want to know the answers to those questions,” he said.

“Wh–!”

“You’re so mean, You know that!”

“So uh..”

“I thought you said you’d do anything I asked if I saved you from Wukong! Well, I did!” Blacklight chuckled. “Didn’t mean I had to save you from ME.”

An annoyed flick of the tail was given to MC’s…rather poor attempt at defending himself, tossing the blame Mei’s way.

“….. Wukong…”

“On it.” There was a sound of ripping hair, and suddenly, five more Wukongs appeared around the original. He grinned even as Macaque and MK thrashed in the background, eyes narrowing dangerously at his two remaining children. “…….RUN.”

"On it—" His arms swiftly around Mei's body as he quickly jumped to the ground. MC scowled at MK and growled, "You're handling all of our chores for this one!" before they activated Code Orange. Before taking off in opposite directions into the depths of the forest, the two tumble backwards into the MC's shadow.

“Oh Shit.” His hand quickly reaches for his hair to summon some of his clones.

Before he could even process what had happened, he slammed into the ground and cried out in a loud voice. Attempting to sprint away as the shadows shot up from the ground, MK was stopped by the shadows by the foot. Oh, he hated that. He started flailing his arms and kicking his feet; he even plucked his staff out of thin air to whack them. “NO! ’, ‘NO! ’,”

“…”

“GET ‘EM!” Macaque threw Wukong off himself, the Monkey King easily righting his own form in mid-air while the shadow simian lunged for Monkie Kid, who was clearly still struggling with their bonds.

“Wait a second…” Wukong summoned his cloud, landing atop it just above the ground and spinning to catch sight of both MC and Mei. His expression grew dark. “….did you two put him up to this…”

“THEN STAY!” And Macaque sprung. He crashed into MK, easily overpowering the youth and dragging him down to the floor. His shadows sprung up from around the other, moving to immobilize him as quickly as possible, tail and all.

“SHIT-” Glow cursed as he rammed into Macaque, having not anticipated the other actually helping his cause. This sent Macaque tumbling off of MK, the shadows around the other wavering.

“MONKIE KID!!!!” Writer had jumped out of the window on the house, rolled a foot or so, and taken off sprinting.

“Uh- … ” In all honesty, he hadn’t anticipated that Glow would expected a “why.” He hasn’t drunk lava or eaten stones because, despite being immortal, he is unsure of whether his organs also possess immortality. “Anything might happen,” the saying goes. “Aside from that, many people have eaten some things from trees for survival, such as the bark or leaves…But I decided..”

“ ‘Hey, Why not eat the whole tree, guys!’, Ya know? ” Not out of arrogance, but rather because he knew better than to betray himself—plus, they’d watch them if they did—he refused to admit that he was the one who ate the tree. “Also, MC had previously eaten a tree and was unharmed. Well, solar, but it’s the same.

There it was—his mentor’s disappointed monkie father side. In an effort to remain composed while avoiding further difficulties, he sought to come up with a plan. Well, as you can see!”

“This is not the first time that I ate a tree.” … Wait

There was a pause.

A few seconds for MK to react before his father would inevitably explode. MC was a different matter- that kid had stomach of iron, but he wasn’t entirely sure about MK- even with his own powers thrown into the mix, there was no telling if something new might emerge… Or if things might go awry, much like when MK first tried to figure out cloning.

“….think about what you just said, kid. Think really hard.” He was gonna tie this child down. “Who even gave you that idea…????” Was it really MK’s idea? Well, it could be. The kid… Had strange concepts of what to do with his powers (puppy hands, anyone?), but… Wasn’t eating a whole tree a bit much? He knew the kids had joked about it on their journey to find the rings, but…

“….and consider…” A whole tree. NOT THE FIRST TIME?!

“….JUST HOW MUCH TROUBLE YOU’RE IN!!!” His yell shook the mountain. “WHY DID YOU THINK EATING A WHOLE TREE WAS A GOOD IDEA?!”

From the nearby home, Writer poked their head out of a window. “–who ate a whole tree?!”

“Monkey kingggggg! Heeeeey! Hahaha…” In an apparent attempt to calm himself down, Mk averted his anxious gaze while spinning his staff around in his palms. “Would it harm a mortal if they ate an entire pine tree, including the needle leaves? Just asking for a friend ” - 🍜

[I’d say unprompted but we both know.]

“……..you what.” There was little hesitation from the king in assuming that his successor/semi-adopted son had just eaten a pine tree. However, what was most concerning was the fact wriggling at the back of his mind, quickly throwing itself to the forefront with a sickening ‘thwmp!’.

“Drop the act, we both know you did it… My only questions are ‘why’ and ‘why do you think you’d get hurt’? You’re immortal.- It’s gonna be a bitch to pass, but aside from suffering for the next few hours, you should be fine.” A pause. “Now…”

“YOU DO REALIZE HOW MUCH THAT HURT AND HOW MUCH IT WILL HURT LATER, RIGHT MK?” Note to self: Next time the kids discuss eating trees when the adults are talking about going without food for their sake, take the kids more seriously….
