idk when i'll ever catch up on tvl. just not feeling it anymore. the more i think about this season the more disappointed i am. iwtv has been my favorite show since it premiered, so i've held out a lot of hope for this season, and tried to remain optimistic but it’s just...blah. it has moments i like, but the anti-blackness, misogyny, and (way less serious but still obnoxious) meta jokes have just gutted this season for me. i don't like the framing device, i don't like that Lestat isn't being challenged on his narration by anyone, i don't like how every woman in the show has been reduced to a sex object, and i don't like how devoid of romance everything feels when this show was literally built upon romance.

bc the previous seasons meant so much to me, it has been kind of miserable to admit to myself that i don't care for this season, and that i understand why others don't care for it either.

can they turn it around? maybe. idk. let me know if they do i guess

Respectfully, they can't turn it around. It's far too late for that with only one episode left. The writers this season have shown themselves to be bigots. That being said, the best thing we can do is return to IWTV, which was written by minorities for minorities and honor their work, giving it the love and acclaim that it deserves, and we treat TVL like the anti-black, homophobic, and misogynistic narrative that it is.

having now read about yesterday's episode, i absolutely agree. that shit is disgusting and beyond saving. fuck Rolin Jones. fuck that insane Claudia scene. the first 2 seasons are nothing short of masterpieces and i will always love and come back to them. absolutely heartbroken for the writers who poured so much passion and authenticity into s1 and s2 just to have it shit on.

look, i haven't finished the latest episode yet, but for as complicated as Louis is, i don't think he'd be paying for or participating in that weird fake Claudia/Madeline make out shit. it feels like we're in ooc territory now.

like, i felt like the ep 3 stuff was plausible for him. fucked up, but plausible. i could see how Louis could justify that to himself, and even then he felt hollow in the aftermath. that was upsetting shit that still felt like Louis. and now there's this. i've been giving this season the benefit of the doubt but WOOF

my most recent posts have been me complaining about fandom purity culture, so i get that this might look hypocritical, but this particular thing really seems like the writers not understanding who the characters are and it's lame

After watching the finale (you know which one), I am only more appreciative of how good btvs's finale is. Loose ends tied up. Core themes strengthened. An actually brilliant pre-sacrifice love confession (with chemistry and solid writing). A certain pair of writer/director brothers fucked up so bad, the ACTUAL DEVIL (Joss Whedon) wrote a finale that was less sexist, racist, and homophobic than their's in fucking 2003

my love of IWTV and my recent obsession with silence of the lambs have teamed up to destroy me so naturally that means Mads Mikkelsen's shark face has sucked me in and I'm on season 2 of hannibal. other than the show being incredible, my biggest take away is that will graham is real as fuck. he's done nothing but sweat, hallucinate, experience guilt, be bitchy, and have 100000 dogs. 10/10. character of all time perhaps
