⸻ ¹ CARRD ² HEADCANON ³ NOTES ⁴ MAIN BLOG ⸻
i'm always on my 'leon and chris don't like each other' agenda but i think everything post re6 is much funnier when you consider that a, leon didn't know about carla until ada gave him the evidence at the end ( even though he saw the tape, bc he's stupid ) so he really just thought chris told him ada was dead to fuck with him and b, he didn't know chris had brain damage.
this sudden- not only access, but authority- that the bsaa has been given over the ruins of raccoon city has jill's hair on end.
their organization was meant as an alternative to the corruption of the american government. it was meant to provide an international network that could be trusted to hold those in power accountable. for years they'd been an enemy of politicians and military alike as they'd refused to back down and, as difficult as it made their job, it was something she was proud of. they were a beacon of justice.
but the bsaa's presence here means one thing only; the united states branch is no longer separate from the government. just as they'd suspected, the corruption has spread like poison through it all.
anger and grief tighten like a fist around her heart, each heavy beat thrumming in her ears, "did they think we wouldn't find out?" it's a stupid question; the bsaa doesn't care. chris and jill are nothing but relics now; a wayward thorn and whatever she is. a liability they just won't let go...
chris steps up beside her, his body an anchor of warmth as he hovers just over her shoulder. it's the first time she's felt at home in months and jill finds herself able to breathe again, leaning back against his chest.
her finger hovers next to his, tracing the same lines, "you're right- it'd take too much time to try and find a stable subway tunnel." she glances up, soft eyes searching his features, "i can scout ahead. find a safe path and circle back." a familiar strategy that carried them for years, but one she isn't certain she can convince him of again.
just as he did thirty years ago, just as he has for every moment in between, chris manages to make her smile. with a shake of her head, jill turns back to the map, "you hoping to see a zombie giraffe?"
in hindsight, he should have expected this. power corrupts — they've seen it over and over — why would the bsaa be any different? first it was the fbc, o'brian. they the pawns in the game between madmen, coming up for air in the dido, checkmate. then again, the spectral fingers of the fbc pulling strings, dragging terrasave underwater, his family floating, bloated in the water. their bodies held below the surface by the bsaa. how had he missed it? even now, he does not know where to find the source of the rot, how long it festered, only that he did not see it until he was mired in it, sinking in the mud.
it's his mess. his to fix. too many people have died for the bsaa — for him — and after all these years, he's failed to get justice for any of them. the woman beside him most of all. twenty-eight years and counting. he's running out of time to make it all right. to keep the promises he made.
"no, they know -" that three years of mandated therapy couldn't convince him to give up the search, that the tears and pleas of his family could not dissuade him from returning to duty. jill gave her life and all he's done to repay her is return, time and time again, to the job that put them in that situation to begin with. "that sooner or later we'd show up. probably counting on it."
he can see the headline now : bsaa founders redfield and valentine killed in action. their deaths the catalyst for more boots on the ground, more authority. lansdale had wanted power, creating the threats that justified the existence of the fbc, an endless cycle that would have gone nowhere had he succeeded, but at least the desire at the heart of it he could understand — what the hell does the bsaa want? to spite them, specifically? tear down everything they've worked for? someone's pulling the strings.
it can't just be the government. if it were, there would be no need for all of this : every week they invent a new reason to go to war, another weapon to destroy the enemy they created. they've been making bioweapons for a decade or two now without the bsaa. so what changed? broad shoulders sag, sighing out smoke ; cigarette squashed beneath his boot.
her suggestion is met with the reactionary tensing of his muscles. instinctive. the same kind he made for years following her return. overprotective and overbearing. mere seconds long, but he knows she'll notice it. she always does, even if she's kind enough not to mention it. "nadia'll cover you," it isn't that he doubts her, only worries, "if it's blocked, we'll have to go through the forest." sooner or later, fate will force them to confront the rotting carcass in the youngest copse of arklay. ruins picked clean, bones bleached white. maybe it would do them good to see it. probably not. there's nothing there but a wound they no longer speak about. rubble in place of headstones, all of the tarred with the same name.
"jill -" he resists the urge to grab her hand, settles for folding the map back up. they don't need it. they knew this place better than they knew themselves, once. "be careful."
people often like to use the samurai edge aw model-01 as 'evidence' for chrisker, or that chris is 'honouring' wesker or something similar, but in reality... wesker designed that gun. he designed it for use against bows, and the design was manufactured after his death by blue umbrella. chris had nothing to do with it.
the only reason he's using it in not a hero is because it was provided to him by blue umbrella ( along with the rest of his gear ) and is part of a wider 'albert system weapons' which are, assumedly, anti-bow weapons. yes, technically he's using it in death island too ( though without the silencer, stabiliser and light ) but i think out-of-universe that's because they just reused the model and in-universe because blue umbrella were testing the gun by handing prototypes to the bsaa and obviously, handing jill a gun with wesker's name on it was not going to go well, so it went to chris instead ( and also chris lost his samurai edge in the mansion, so... i guess he just never replaced it after cv ).
in village, he's using the usm-a1 which - unlike the aw m-01 - was chosen by chris to use personally and bears the engraving of the date of the mansion incident. when chris honours the memory of stars, it's of his fallen friends, not wesker.
i'm all for toxic ships and crack ships, like it's not that deep sometimes you can just do whatever you want, but i think if you genuinely think that 1. wesker loved chris at all or 2. chris would ever have romantic or deep love for a man who abused his soulmate ( whether platonic or romantic ) and his little sister and there's canon evidence of that, you need to do something about your shipping brain and you do not understand chris redfield at all.
similarly, i've never subscribed to the popular fanon blorbo takes that wesker liked stars or cared about them because... he didn't ( he was already planning on leaving umbrella, he could have just faked his death in the mansion or prior without doing all of that ) or that chris and jill ( but mostly chris, according to fandom ) was so hurt by the betrayal it still wounds them up to present day because neither of them - in original or remake - show any kind of surprise or hurt about the fact he's betrayed them ( and it isn't a case of acting / the script, because jill is hurt by barry's betrayal! ) and even in code veronica, chris outright says it's about the fact wesker killed stars ( who were his friends and family ), not that he cared about wesker soooo much the betrayal hurt him. there is a difference and it's people interpreting chris' grief and anger over the loss of his friends as feelings for wesker.
one thing i always find really funny about re5 is that chris was 100% certain jill was still alive, never doubted it for a second, but yet is surprised that wesker's alive. like... okay, jill's extremely capable but the t-virus in her system hadn't activated yet ( wesker's experiments do that ) so she absolutely should be dead, and even if they did like... ah yes. this fatal fall will not kill my human partner but it will kill the superhuman who has already been killed once. where chris' brain should be there is just a photo of jill i'm afraid.
Wesker: 貴様とこうして顔を合わせるのはスぺンサー邸以来か?久しぶりに. あの時の3人が再会したんだ. もう少し嬉しそうな顔をしろ. Is this the first time we've seen each other like this since the Spencer mansion? It's been a long time. The three of us from back then have reunited. You should look a little happier.
Chris: 3人だと! Three people?!
Wesker: やれやれ…… 鈍い男は嫌われるぞ. Oh dear… no one likes a dull man.
Chris: ジル!ジル! 俺だ クリスだ! Jill! Jill! It's me, Chris!
Wesker: 愛しのジルとご対面だ. 今日は気分がいい相手をしてやろう. ちょうど 2対2だ. なあ ジル? You're finally face to face with your beloved Jill. I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll go along with it. It's exactly two against two. Right, Jill?
as she looks up at chris, jill can see the ghost of raccoon city over his shoulder; an imprint- like half developed film laid upon the present. and, just the same, she sees the ghost of the young man she'd started all of this with. smaller than the figure before her, and yet bigger in so many ways.
he doesn't smile as much anymore. the jokes have quieted. and when he looks at her, it's with sad, darkened eyes.
jill's hand cups the side of his face, thumb brushing over one of his scars. she wishes she could linger for a moment- breathe him in- but there's too much to do and not enough time.
"of course i'm sure. you know i've been dying for some action." her voice is light, her gaze soft and reassuring, but they can both feel the weight of this decision, "and when do we ever leave a job unfinished?"
jill takes a breath and steps back, letting professionalism replace the gentle moment, her voice growing harder. more focused.. still, the ease and comfort between them remains, "alright. catch me up. what do we know?"
already she's pushing past him, walking into the tent with an authority as though she's been here for days rather than minutes. jill goes straight for the map and begins pouring over the scribbled notes, tracing lines with a delicate finger as she absently mutters her thoughts aloud, "seems like they've got most of the perimeter manned. with this many people they're being thorough... what are they looking for?"
with the ghosts of raccoon city in his periphery, demanding to be acknowledged, everything they’ve done seems small. futile. everything they’ve lost and given up and here they are, back where they started, hoping this time the dead will finally stay buried. it won’t. too many times have they watched the sun rise, allowed their bodies to relax and relief to wash over them only for the next catastrophe to strike. the desire to do some good in the world and prove life is still worth fighting for the sword they impale themselves upon, over and over ; it is a part of him now, a wound unable to heal. the thought festers at the back of his skull, between scar tissue and hair, more often than he'd like to admit : doubt rearing its ugly head — what was the point of it all?
some small part of him had hoped she'd say no, tell him to come home, insist they turn their backs on the beast they've created and live what's left of their lives before it's too late. that's not jill, though. not them. the bodies may be dust, the mansion nothing but ruin, the very forest itself naught more than scorched earth and still, still there has been no justice for the family and the home that they lost.
she pulls away from him and for a moment, the weight of it renders him immobile. no matter what happens, he will get her the justice she needs. for stars, for herself. she gave her life for it, after all. it is a promise he has made in silence, kept for all the months they've spent apart : he will not rest until they have finally put an end to the story that began down in that city, even if it kills him — and some days, it feels like it will.
"from the looks of things down in the city, bsaa's been there a while. used to be no one was allowed anywhere near the place. especially us." he could never understand why the government refused to hand over any powers of jurisdiction — now, the dots seem so obvious he feels stupid for never noticing. he blames it on too much time spent the other side of the globe ; blames on leon falling in line with the same corruption claire told him he would. "underground would be our best bet, but i'd wager the subway station's collapsed at this point. can follow the old tram network though." he moves in beside her, finger lowered to a spot just off-center from stone ville on the map — where they are now — following the old tram line until it meets the station outside st michael's clock tower, "hell, maybe if we're lucky we'll have time to stop by the zoo."

there's a strange plummet in her stomach, a prickle along her skin, as jill makes her way to the corpse of her old home. it almost feels like nostalgia, but it's darker. heavier. grief? no. that's not quite right either.
it's a careful trek. one that takes longer than it should as jill skirts even the edges of what might be visible to the passing black trucks. the whole ordeal of getting here took days altogether; the bsaa still has her monitored even now, and they've been watching extra closely since chris went awol. either they expect her to follow suit, or they know she'll seek him out.
they've been apart so many times throughout the years, but it never gets easier. if anything, the ache has grown deeper, melting into the other hollow places inside her until she's nothing but a giant, open wound.
the hike is familiar, even in the lifeless shell of what it once was. her boots are steady beneath her, her hat pulled down and jacket zipped to her chin. she comes over a ridge and finally can see past the imposing walls surrounding the remains of raccoon city. jill swears if she closes her eyes, she can still see that skyline.
a deep breath, a drink of water, and jill carries onwards.
chris gave her coordinates for the campsite, but jill could find it without direction; she knows the way he thinks. knows him deeper than even herself at times.
and there it is. a dark blot against dark hills. it takes every ounce of self control not to run the rest of the way, but to instead keep her slow, purposeful pace.
then, finally, chris. even without lights to frame him, jill would recognize his silhouette anywhere. she could draw the lines of him from memory...
he starts to speak, and she doesn't even listen; there will be so much time for conversation and debriefing and planning- that's all the following days will be- but for now-
jill closes the last few feet of distance, arms thrown around him, fingers digging in hard enough to almost hurt, even through the layers of his gear.
no place like home.
he's joking, but he's right. except it's not raccoon city; it's him.
she pulls back enough to meet his gaze and she can feel herself smiling genuinely for the first time since they parted ways, pricking tears reflecting the faint moonlight, "good to see you, partner."
how much they've changed over the long, long years — raccoon city is naught but ruin and so, too, the versions of themselves that lived down there, ghosts of people who have inexplicably outlived their comrades. he never could have anticipated what happened in that mansion, nor how deep the corruption had festered within the city but years were given on the hope that eventually, with perseverance, there would have been an end to it. justice, a happy ending. instead, they're back to where they started : the same city at the heart of it, the same rot spreading throughout the thing they loved, unsure of who to trust and where to go ; all those years, and what do they have to show for it?
they're still alive. still together. fighting the good fight.
even in the darkest of times, there's jill to pull him out of it — whether she's there or not. the self-inflicted burden he carries is lighter when she's around, the world a little less weary. after everything they've been through, he owes it to her to fix this. the bsaa was supposed to make a difference. he refuses to let it fall. they didn't give their lives only for it to crumble now.
"just like old times, huh?" there's a memory, somewhere, distorted between the lines of scar tissue half-hidden beneath his hair, missing all the vital pieces — name, date, location — but he remembers the feeling : the ache in his legs, the sun beating down on his shoulders, the sound of twigs snapping underfoot. fishing trips and mountain hikes woven between investigations along the river, throughout the forest. muscle memory providing what his mind cannot. the fossilised remnants of the man who lived in that city found within him. "you sure you're ready for this?" he knows the answer, but asks anyway, as if it will absolve him of any guilt that once again he's drug her into the mess he's made, "they'll know we're here soon - if they don't already. no going back after this until the job's done."
BSAA STANDARD EMPLOYEE OUTFIT.
whilst high-ranking members may wear a more personalised uniform, standard bsaa employee outfits are often shades of grey, green or blue, and brown and are fairly simple: a t-shirt and combat fatigues. id cards must be worn on the premises ( usually either on a lanyard or attached to the shirt or jacket ) and are necessary for entering the building.
the standard shirts bear the bsaa emblem on the shoulder, however this particular uniform seems to only be for those who work in the office as agents out on the field often wear their own shirts - though the bsaa emblem and logo is visible on their sleeves or jackets - seen with piers and chris' shirts in marhawa : chris is wearing a plain turtleneck, merah is wearing a white shirt with her queen bee graphic on it and piers is wearing a shirt with the american flag on it.
in the cutscenes during revelations, we get our first and only glimpses of the parts of the bsaa building ( the control room, o’brians office as director, the hallways ), likely the bsaa headquarters in london. the standard uniform from the concept art can be seen here, along with the uniform for the women too - which appears to be standard ‘office wear’ with a blazer and skirt in dark grey with a white shirt ( though it is likely the two uniforms are interchangeable depending on preference, as is a skirt / trousers ) - however the more ‘office’ wear may be reserved to staff who aren’t as active.
the casual jackets seen worn by bsaa members usually feature the bsaa patch belonging to their particular branch on the left arm, and are usually worn in shades of green - though other colours are available.
merah's jacket seems unique in that it has a graphic on the back ( inspired by the redfield's made in heaven jacket ) at first glance, however, piers' jacket also has a graphic on the back which is never entirely visible but appears to be the 'made in heaven' jacket which is... interesting? he's either wearing chris' ( i imagine it doesn't fit chris anymore, so maybe he gave it to him ) or he simply... stole the redfield's thing. with merah's jacket specifically, a different version of this jacket was available for purchase : this version was fabric rather than leather ( as shown in the cover art ) and bright red instead of a navy blue.
however, this is not the only style of jacket - many variations exist, but they follow a similar colourscheme. these ones in particular are merchandise, but i like to think they are based on in-universe options. the blue one shown below is specifically listed as the jill valentine windbreaker model ( there was a matching one for parker, but i can't find any photos of it ) with the green one being the "bsaa soft-shell jacket".
The soft shell jacket worn by the members of the special forces "BSAA" against bioterrorism appearing in the "BIOHAZARD" series has been renewed and released!! In addition to the existing color sage, military khaki color will be developed.
similarly, there was also concept art and merchandise of jill in another bsaa jacket, the 'jill valentine model n3-b jacket':
BSAA SOU UNIFORM.
the standard uniform of the bsaa consists of:
(usually) light gray combat fatigues
fire resistant gloves
combat boots
ballistic helmet with a mounted flashlight
balistic goggles
fire resistant balaclava
kneepads
a bulletproof vest
ear piece or shoulder mounted radio
thigh holster
military watch
the silhouette of the bsaa uniform remains the same for each branch, however certain aspects change depending on the local branch due to climate.
for example, the eastern european forces of the european branch wear thicker clothing, higher / tighter collars, longer sleeves and usually wear shades of white or grey due to the environment. in lanshiang, the uniform of the far east branch is very similar, though it has short sleeves. comparing this with merah’s outfit ( though this doesn’t seem to be standard sou and more like an soa outfit ), the far east branch seems to favour shades of blue/green. in west africa, the uniforms have more sandy colours, long sleeves and seem to be made from a different material - once again likely due to the environment. though we only see one agent from the oceania branch in the stage play who is an soa, her uniform is much simpler, wearing a simple tanktop with navy pants - though notably her vest is black as opposed to the usual shades of green. this could be the standard, but is more likely a personal choice.
as seen in the concept art above, the colour of the pants matches the sleeves of the uniform which implies that if sophie's outfit is a personalised version of the standard uniform for the oceania branch, that their main colour would be navy / blue.
we aren't shown any coloured panels of hendrick in heavenly island, but given the island of sindo de tortuga is in the caribbean, we can assume he is a part of the north american branch ( particularly as he comes with parker, who is seemingly part of the NA branch even if it would make more sense for him to be of the european branch ). his uniform is standard bsaa wear, but he wears a plain, short-sleeved t-shirt beneath his vest with the bsaa letters on his sleeve which matches what parker is wearing.
as mentioned previously, all sou uniforms bear a patch marking them as part of a unit which can be seen across various uniforms - these are often worn on the breast pocket, on the shoulder or on the vest. often this will be paired with military blood-type patch on the vest.
*as of 2017, the bsaa changed both its logo and uniforms : they now wear black fatigues, boots, gloves, vest and are notably wearing full face headgear more often ( helmet, visor, gas mask, headset ). this change in uniform is, obviously, meant to show how much more militarised and corrupt they've become, but i personally don't like the direction the story is going in with the bsaa, so for my personal headcanon i am simply relegating this to the "faction" of corrupt bsaa soldiers / the "official" uniforms worn by the corrupt NA branch - whilst the founders and other branches continue wearing the old uniform / logo.
i also find it really silly hound wolf squad are wearing jeans and so simply ignore that, imagining they have a uniform that matches that of silver dagger ( who in themselves wore a darker / more armoured uniform to the usual bsaa soldiers due to their role as an elite, specialised unit ) as it makes sense to me that as a special, elite unit that chris temporarily took control of / became the leader of, that this is the same elite unit that he pulled the hound wolf squad members from ( and is also why i consider dc and nadia to be part of hws ).
SOA UNIFORMS.
members of the bsaa who are soa generally have more personalised and unique uniforms / gear - seen with chris, piers, jill, parker, barry and merah - and can differ based on the requirements for the particular mission ( such as the diving suits in revelations ).
in the same game chris also has shears and two vials ( likely either some type of anti-virus or first aid spray ) and is likely attached to a first aid kit given it is only him and jessica. high-ranking agents however also have uniforms more suited to their role - for example, piers’ concept art says :
as a sniper, we concentrated his equipment is concentrated around his legs and hips, and avoided putting anything on his chest so there wouldn’t be anything getting in the way when he laid down.
this is echoed with jill’s usual bsaa outfit too - notably she does not wear a vest and often doesn’t carry much on her in comparison to chris, possibly due to the fact she is the more lithe one and is more likely to be thrown / climb / backflip.
as mentioned before, merah and chris' outfits ( re6 / vendetta ) share a lot of design elements : featuring panels of white / grey / black and green ( which chris has had since his re5 outfit ) - though unlike the greens used prior, which are in the usual military range of greens, begin leaning towards a more blue-toned shade, closer to teal.
personally, i imagine jill's official bsaa uniform would probably be similar to merah's post re5 - though perhaps not as tight / form-fitting but they definitely have that shared blue palette ( which pairs nicely as - at least in my headcanon - merah was set up to be the next "jill" alongside piers as the new "chris", who much like his captain, wears khaki and green ).
personally, whilst the teal in chris' design in re6 ( for his china outfit specifically ) is due to him probably wearing the uniform of the far east branch, i believe the lean towards teal in his usual uniform is meant to be symbolic of jill - the teal being a mixture of their colours, blue and green.
whilst both wear practical outfits ( sheva too ) and neither are particularly "baggy", jill does not wear the same bulky body armour as chris does - as, mentioned prior, her abilities and movements are much more agile and gymnastic than chris', and bulky body armour would impede this.
so, whilst personal touches may be incorporated into their uniforms - both soa and sou ( sou however are very minor, such as piers' keffiyeh ) - they generally tend to follow certain patterns, styles and colourschemes. it is unlikely someone will have an entirely unique outfit that does not overlap in any way with the established uniform ( ie, barry may be wearing a red jacket with no emblem, but it's supposed to as seen in the concept art - he also has an alternative costume with the usual bsaa green jacket / concept art of him wearing the green jacket ).
chris and jill have always been basically canon and i'll never understand chreon's popularity as anything other than 'two men standing next to each other'. at least with chrisker i get it ( at least, on wesker's side, as some sort of hatred / revenge turned psychosexual obsession ).
even in non-canon media like the unused romero script....
PORTRAYAL NOTES.
chris and jill have been married since 2010. it was a small, private ceremony at a courthouse with claire and the burton's as witnesses. the two keep their relationship fairly private at work ( as it isn't really relevant - many of their coworkers do not realise they are actually married ) but are more open about it at home. those who are not in their immediate circle ( claire / the burtons / rebecca / sherry / sheva / josh / parker / piers / merah ) or have access to their legal information would not know. chris has two wedding bands : the one he wears more often is plain titanium and he wears this when working due to the better durability ( though it is often unseen due to him wearing gloves ), but at home he wears a simple but traditional gold band. whilst neither he or jill are the kind of people to want a big spectacle, he would like to one day have a "proper" wedding because he thinks jill deserves it and regrets not doing that ( and on top of that : sheva, rebecca and parker will not let him forget they didn't get to be there ).
chris tolerates leon at best : most of the time he is civil around him, but does not consider him a friend - at most they are, in some sense, co-workers, but are otherwise acquaintances linked by a relationship to claire. chris has had many issues with leon personally due to how he treats claire and sherry, finding him to be unreliable at best. however, lanshiang left a permanent dent in any possible friendship, as leon cemented himself in chris’ mind as a man who is willing to accept and defend a terrorist due to a personal ( he assumes ) relationship. he does not know about carla - as the files on simmons and carla were kept to the government - and still believes ada was the one to kill his men and attempt to kill him and piers. even if he were to find out about carla, he still knows ada is a wanted terrorist who has previously infiltrated and posed as a bsaa consultant, and he would not change his opinion on leon for defending her.
chris and wesker were not close. the two ( in chris’ mind ) had the average employer-employee relationship but he greatly preferred wesker to irons ( who he had many issues with prior to beginning his investigation into the man ). he saw wesker as stern, boring and a stick in the mud but respected him as a commanding officer and for his skills / leadership. he tried occasionally to invite wesker to stars group events outside of work but these were few and mostly born of expectation / obligation. the betrayal was devastating and unexpected, but it was not because the two were friends.
outside of jill, claire and barry, sheva is one of the few people he trusts implicitly and is able to be truly himself around, including being vulnerable. whilst he loved piers and merah, there was always the weight of professionalism and an expectation to live up to the reputation that had proceeded him. though this initially was present with sheva, she saw him at his most vulnerable ( outside of his tbi, which obviously piers was present for, but that was outside of his control ) and i think partly why piers sought out sheva for help.
following on from that, chris is not rose's "dad" nor does he have any interest in being her father - he finds that disrespectful to ethan and mia. he is present in rose's life and can be considered her guardian, but he is not and will not ever be her father nor would / will he take her from her mother. instead he does what he can to assist mia, but due to his work this is mostly financial and professional ( as seen with discussing rose's status with her teachers ). at most, if mia wanted it, he would be involved legally in the hopes that attaching his name to rose would protect her from any possible bsaa mistreatment ( but given how they have treated jill, claire and moira, it is unlikely ).
chris is a recovering alcoholic and has been sober since 2013. whilst it was at its worst in edonia during the six months he was missing, his drinking had been a crutch that had been developing for many years - one that had previously been at its worst following jill's "death" until an intervention from barry, rebecca and claire, and though he still struggled with it, it is partly his attempt to combat his addiction that lead to him overworking himself and his obsessive need to find jill. this is also part of the reason he avoids leon's company as leon seems to have no intention of quitting and would, intentional or not, drag chris back down into the bottle with him.
chris ( and claire ) are the godparents to moira and polly - both because they watched the two grow up and have been present for the majority of their lives, but also as they are essentially all one big family and, for the redfields, it is a way to 'pay back' the burton's for everything they did for the redfields as orphaned children.
whilst it is a long-running joke that chris is notoriously bad at answering his phone, it is usually not intentional. chris is old fashioned - he remembers what life was like in the eighties and nineties where there wasn't a constant expectation of availability or communication - but also suffers with his memory due to the tbi. there is also an element of avoidance there which is a result of trauma, stemming from the late-night phonecall about the death of his parents. past midnight, it is incredibly rare chris will answer his phone unless someone answers it for him and passes it to him.
chris' name is chris, not christopher / christian / (the name christopher is only used in the live action re5 campaign and in not a hero, but in the original japanese these are absent and his own signature is always signed as chris ).
chris does not have an office - he is an active soldier and thus has no need for one / offices are standard for bsaa members who have the role of consultant, analyst, technician, administrator and so on ( aka desk jobs ). he is a founding member whose words and actions hold weight but he is not in charge, and he still answers to those above him ( in theory ). originally an soa, he stepped down in 2009 and became an sou for the north american branch whose tole was primarily scouting and training replacements in preparation for his retirement - piers and merah were meant to take his place. following 2012, chris returned to the role of soa temporarily before going rogue.
