Just wanna say that there are almost no scenarios where I’ll be mad at a highschooler for not having hobbies.

This is ESPECIALLY true because all adults I’ve ever met have told me stuff like “extracurriculars aren’t hobbies!!” Bitch, some days I leave for school at 7am and get home at 8pm. And then I have homework!! And I have to eat! And shower! Does that sound like a schedule with time for hobbies?

I think most American highschoolers live in an environment where most of their waking hours are spent making themselves look appealing for colleges, and if the one hundred and one extracurriculars they take aren’t hobbies considered hobbies, then they don’t have time for any.

Now, obviously there are people without hobbies AND without extracurriculars, at which point I may judge you a little bit, but everyone else is exempt. Goodluck living through our school system :’D

I vividly remember watching Monk with my parents as a really young child (4-7 years old?) and there was this one episode where a monkey with a gun was found in an almost barren room with a dead body, with the only other object in there being a random refrigerator. I was beginning to understand patterns, like that the obvious answer is never the right one in mystery shows, and I told my parents “It wasn’t the monkey”. They responded by saying stuff like “but he was holding the gun!” and “there was nothing in there but the fridge”. It’s pretty obvious to me now they were just trying to get me to think through my claim and do critical thinking, but in my little child brain, them saying these things meant they didn’t believe me. I just kept saying “but it wasn’t the monkey. IT WASNT THE MONKEY” with increasing sadness because I didn’t know how to explain my thought process.

Looking back thats probably how Shawn Spencer felt every day before lying about being psychic

I really think that the main message of TADC is that even non-real experiences matter. Like, maybe all their time in the circus was just a second in the real world but they still remember it all, or maybe they were all fake to begin with. The bonds they made still were real, and it still matters
