In case anyone doesn’t know this reference, there’s a possible connection between spamtenna and Baci Perugina, which is an Italian brand of chocolates associated with romance that contains little love notes.
Tenna’s main overworld theme is called “And Now For Today’s Sponsors…!” This song plays every time he shows up, including the Mike cutscene in chapter 5. It seems likely its name is a reference to Spamton and his past role as the sponsor of TV Time; Tenna has no actual sponsors anymore, as shown a couple times at the end of the game boards. However, in Deltarune’s files, this song is labeled “baci_perugina.” It’s the only song in chapter 3 or 4 to not have a self-explanatory file name. Whether or not this has a deeper meaning is unclear, however there are some other interesting links between these chocolates and spamtenna.
Baci Perugina was invented by two businesses partners who were in a relationship that was apparently an open secret, and it’s said they got the idea for the notes because they would often pass each other love notes in private (I know there’s a popular theory that Tenna called Spamton “love letter”). One of them also wanted to name the chocolates “punches,” but the other convinced her to call them “kisses” (which “baci” is Italian for) instead, which is pretty cute. @crtter states in this post that one of the first love notes to be put in Baci Perugina was:
“‘Better a kiss today than a hen tomorrow,’ which paraphrases the Italian proverb ‘Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow.’ As in, it's better to have the certainty of something good now than the possibility of something better in the future that might not come to be.”
This is a quote that seems relevant to Tenna + Spamton’s relationship in several ways — they literally had an egg together that still hasn’t hatched, and they both signed the contract, losing what they had for a better future that never came to be. We might not ever find out if any of this was meant intentionally, but it’s certainly very interesting that particular song was named baci_perugina, and that these connections can be made.
Side Note: Another music file fun fact is that “Pushing Buddies” (which plays when Kris first pushes Ralsei as a block, when Lanino and Elnina reunite, and in the dojo once it becomes the Love Dojo) is named “tvromance” in the files. It’s 19s long, 97 bpm, in G major. Another interesting connection, huh?
