Okay, but I was genuinely hoping for a Shen n Soothsayer moment in the movie, as ridiculous as it sounds. But out of curiosity, if you're still around, how do you think she would have reacted to what had happened to him? And maybe just the Chameleon in general?

And… she’s gone.
And... she sleeps. Her head is awkwardly leaning forward due to the weight of her horns.

Summary: The masters across China have congregated to the Jade Palace to celebrate Po as Oogway’s Successor. Though how easily they manage to do this is another story entirely.
A/N: Big surprise, I missed the Soothsayer and I needed to get the Brainworms™ out. This fic is something of a sequel to fall (take two), as well as a prequel to my Gongmen Successor AU. It makes sense in context.
Whether I do anything more with this concept is another question entirely. This is headcanon-heavy and retcons the whole thing regarding the Dragon Master title.

The sun glints off the surface of the water, leaving the river sparkling in the early morning light.
The Soothsayer exits the quarters on the boat and made her way to the edge, the assorted servants and workers not paying her much mind. Waves lap gently at the side of the boat. She is no stranger to travel, as more often than not she trailed behind Gongmen’s nobles long ago, and behind its present-day kung fu protectors.
A shadow looms behind her. “We should be at the Valley before noon.”
“Good.” She glances up at Storming Ox and the side of her mouth quirks up. “You’re tense.”
Her tone broached no argument. It was difficult for the master to hide anything from her own experience and insight.
“And so are you,” he said, nodding to the vice grip she had her cane in.

The old goat tilts her head up slightly to catch a glimpse of the master’s gaze in her periphery. She knew a thing or two about regret and what you felt you should have known, doubly so considering her field of work.

[ returns to this blog for a hot minute because i’m having A Normal One after me and a friend talked about the mandarin dub of kfp2
specifically, in the final scene with shen and the soothsayer. in english its ‘set the soothsayer free. she is of no use to me’. in mandarin its:
“soothsayer, you can go now. You're no longer of use to me.”
both wordings have shen distance himself from her, but mandarin dub’s wording is much more... idk, direct? instead of telling someone to lead her out, he’s directly telling her to leave and both those things have different energies.... Yells
also soothsayer's dub name (羊仙姑) literally translates to “magical goat lady”, or “auntie magic goat”, which i love ]

This definitely wasn’t China, the Soothsayer thought to herself. She exited the foyer of the crumbling tower with a meaningful stride, both hands at her side and the weight of her horns less burdensome.
The old goat wasn’t sure how she got here, but for some reason she couldn’t bring herself to be that concerned about such matters. A part of her nagged at her, but she couldn’t quite bring herself out of the stupor she was in. Her steps echoed with a clack-clack, even when outside in the marble path, and…
Where was she going? The path had stopped abruptly– the marble was broken, and the other side was floating away from the gold skies around her, and into the stormy green ones in the distance that she hadn’t noticed until now.
The golden skies writhed, filled with agitated energy. The green ones were stagnant and reminded her of a shallow pond overrun with duckweeds.
Something was wrong.
