He laughed then, giving a wave of his hand as if to wave it off before rubbing the back of his neck and turning sheepish.

         " ...'M still trying to fix it, heh. "

"Optimism is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does invoke a certain element of ignorance to a situation where intelligence is manditory."

          " Element... of ignorance... mandatory... "

It took him a couple of seconds to understand what the other meant.

          " Oh! You mean that I won't be smart in times that I need to! Right? "

     ”Hmph! I’m glad you’re acknowledging that, human. Now I won’t have to pummel it into you.” Laharl’s smirk widens as he takes in the stranger’s look of sheer earnest admiration. These weakling creatures are always so easily impressed, but it takes a truly amazing and powerful being to elicit such a reaction.

         " That's good! You wouldn't be able to pummel into me anyways. "

Gon laughed brightly, having no ill will in his tone whatsoever-- rather, it was filled with matter-of-factness, like it was completely obvious that the other wouldn't be able to do so in the first place.

         " But yeah! Really cool! Like.... one of those villains from a show I used to watch when I was little! "

"You seem a bit too happy for the current setting."

The young boy tilted his head to the side in mild confusion, smiling nonetheless.

         " Too happy? But I'm always like this! "
