hear me out: modern day Emma Woodhouse needs to have been like. a child actor or something equally weird. modern Emma's are always popular social butterflies and it doesn't work. book Emma has literally never had peers her own age. she's an undersocialized puppy who's used to being coddled and spoiled by humans and never learned how to play with other dogs bc the only one she's ever met was jane fairfax like 3 times ever.

and yeah you could achieve this vibe with just homeschooling but i like it better when there's a Status to it. she's not the homeschooled kid who grew up lonely and is acutely aware of having missed out on socialization, she's the sitcom baby who grew up on a tv set being told she was living the dream.
