Kurt could only nod slowly. “Yeah I’m - I’m 99.9% sure at least I could just be unconscious and be dreaming all this. But I uh- yeah I fell off the roof and Wolfie just kind of- followed along.” Wolfie gave Brett a bark as if trying to confirm what his master just said. “I apologize if I just stressed you out that was not my intention I know how its- I mean I know how stressful interaction can be I’m real sorry.”

He moved over, reaching a hand out and pulling it back a few times before giving Brett an awkward pat on the shoulder. “I mean I assume I’m a ghost I kind you know invisible and stuff. You’re alright though right man I am sorry again.” Despite being a ghost he could if he wanted to conjure up energy to touch things. It was exhausting and limited but at least he could do it.

“So uh- Brett right? Uhm, what are you up to. That’s the thing I should be asking right about now I guess, or how are you is a better question. Small talk is such an obnoxious thing you know it’s always hard to ask those questions without seeming insincere which is what some people do - I’m rambling again I-” His hand tightened around the leash, he could feel himself becoming a little overwhelmed with trying not to sound like an idiot and trying not to scare the other away. It was hard to balance his anxiety about things, and it was more of the little things that bothered him the most.

"I'm ok I guess." Brett said sighing. "I'm not doing much. Trying to figure out this new life stuck here." He sighed again. He should have known there would be ghosts after he figured out he was stuck. Something had to be weird about the place. All the ghost stories seemed silly at the time. "So I'm sorry I don't think I caught your name..." He trailed off and looked down. "I like your dog." 

He didn't have a lot to say to the ghost. He tried to be polite but he was still a little creeped out. He was never really that skeptical so he didn't find it that hard to accept the existance of ghosts but he still didn't know how to process it.

“Ahh- sorry sorry I didn’t mean to scare uhm-” Kurt waved his hands in front of him, grinning a bit awkwardly. “No no no you can pet Wolfie I’m sure he doesn’t mind I- it’s not like he’s exactly working right now I guess I mean- yeah. I- sorry again.” It was easy to see that Brett wasn’t exactly the most sociable either, anxiety as well maybe? Wolfie circled around Kurt a few times, to which the ghost needed to untangle himself from the leash each time. “Wolfie, wolfie calm down ya noodle - stop stop.”

Said dog finally calmed down, trotting over to the other male and barking at him. “See he likes you. Well Wolfie likes most people but uh, yeah he likes you that’s a thing.” Kurt himself took a few steps forward, holding out his hand. “I’m Kurt, I’m kind of you know a ghost. oooo spooky noises.” He really hoped that saying that was the right thing; from the looks of it, it didn’t seem like Brett was entirely comfortable with him appearing out of nowhere, so maybe he didn’t even know ghosts existed in the hotel.

“I uh- it’s nice to meet you. Sorry again - just in case Wolfie does decide to bother you in the future he uhm, isn’t exactly the brightest sometimes. I guess I should apologize in advance for myself I tend to ramble sometimes I’m not really good with… people.”

"You're a ghost?" Brett exclaimed. He heard stories about the inn being haunted but he thought it was all just hype. "A real... honest to god ghost....." He blinked and looked up at Kurt again. Sure enough the guy had a ghostly glow to him. "You've got to be kidding me. A ghost. Wow that's really just crazy." His mind had been blown completely. He ran his fingers through his hair. "A ghost." He repeated the words quietly a few more times. "Are you sure you're a ghost?"

Much to his dismay, of course Wolfie had gotten him the attention he didn’t want. He stopped in his tracks, as did Wolfie. The service dog could literally sense the tension with the way his master gripped onto the leash, fiddling it with his fingers. He took a few steps forward and sat right in front of Kurt’s feet, staring intently at the stranger now in front of them. 

Kurt threaded the fingers of his free hand through the dogs fur, causing the canine to perk his ears backward and close his eyes, leaning his head up into the petting. It was hard to keep himself hidden when he could feel the anxiety taking over, it wasn’t anywhere near panic attack worthy but it was still the uncomfortable feeling of having someone he didn’t particularly know inadvertently talking to him. 

Wolfie barked once, as if trying to answer the man in front of him. He stood back up, took a few more steps toward him then circled around and sat back down in front of Kurt’s feet. He repeated this a couple of times, not sure on what to do since he could not go far because of his leash. 

‘This is a thing that is happening right now Kurt.’ he thought to himself. ‘What’s the worst that could happen you’re dead already he couldn’t kill you again. Although maybe he could, what if there’s an afterlife for the afterlife.’ It took him quite some time mauling over what an afterlife for the afterlife could be like before he finally decided on showing himself. He couldn’t very well just walk away, the man would try to follow Wolfie more than likely. “Uh, yes hello there sir I think;” He waved a hand awkwardly, gripping tighter to the leash. “This would be my dog you are trying to have a conversation with, although I don’t believe he’s much for a good talk- uh-“

Kurt was beginning to ramble, it was a nervous tick; along with stumbling over words and pausing awkwardly between sentences. “I’m sorry if he bothered you he gets excited sometimes.”

Brett leaped backwards when he heard the voice and a ghost materialized right in front of him. "Whoa, Jesus!" He exclaimed. "Where did you come from?" He thought he was going to have a heart attack. Where did this guy come from? He wasn't there just a second ago. He thought that maybe he blanked out for a moment but he could have sworn no one was there. 

"Um. So this is your dog?" He asked. "Sorry, I just love animals. You probably don't want me petting him or anything though. Sorry again." He winced and got up. He chewed on his lip awkwardly, bowing his head and looking down at the ground. "Hi. Uh, I'm Brett. Your dog isn't bothering me or anything. He's nice."

Star Gazing

It was quite the nice night out tonight. Even though there were a few scattered clouds, it was pretty calm which meant it would be a decent time to star gaze. It wasn’t like Kurt had much more to lose, he was already dead after all. With Wolfie fitted into his service dog vest, he took only a few moments to check up and down the halls for the all clear, gripped onto Wolfie’s leash and treaded down halls. Even now he couldn’t shake the anxiety, the awkwardness he felt in other peoples company. His dog made it a little easier for him. He chose to keep himself hidden from view, but it was hard to remain hidden for long with Wolfie being visible to anyone who may pass. 

The dog padded along, wagging his tail and letting out an occasional excited bark. Working always made him excited, he enjoyed being there for his master. Sometimes that excitement got to be a little too much, and the shepherd was soon tugging at the leash making Kurt stumble forward. “Careful Wolfie, careful Wolfie— careful Wolfie.” Kurt was trying to speak as quietly as possible while still being stern and getting the point across to his companion. He pulled at the leash once, making the canine back up right to his side and slow the pace. Wolfie barked in acknowledgement, ears perking up. Kurt could only sigh and smile, giving the dog a pat on the head. “Good boy.” He cooed, trying to pick up the pace. With the noise it was bound to garner some bodies attention.

Brett heard the sound of a dog barking in the distance and he stopped in his tracks. He didn't even know animals were allowed at the inn. If he knew that he would have taken along his cat and goldfish. He took a couple steps forward and saw a pure white dog that looked almost glowing. He blinked to try to clear his vision. Maybe he was just hallucinating again. Sometimes when he got extremely depressed he saw things that weren't really there.

"Hello doggie." He said. He rarely smiled but something about animals cheered him up. He crouched down and put his hands on his thighs, beckoning for the dog to come over. "Here doggie! Here!" He didn't see anyone else around. No owner. The dog looked owned though because he had a vest on. He must have belonged to someone, but where were they? "Where's your master, puppy?" Brett asked the dog.
