Scaling Good Eggs
These past few months, we’ve been laser-focused on serving our core customers to make Good Eggs an even better grocery option for home cooks. We’ve expanded our selection to carry the best ingredients all in one place; introduced weekly original recipes to inspire our community to cook and eat seasonally; released a new iOS app to make shopping from local producers even easier; and introduced (free) next-day delivery if you order by 10pm.
All of this hard work and focus is delivering tremendous results. More and more folks are relying on Good Eggs to feed their families every week, with overall sales growing faster than ever. Recently, we celebrated our first $100,000 day in sales, the majority of which went to our community of local farmers and foodmakers, who make the most amazing food with integrity and sustainability.
As a next step, I’m excited to announce that we’ll have help scaling our business to the next level from our new CEO, Bentley Hall. Bentley will join as a partner to me and my co-founder, Alon, while I will remain chairman of the board. The three of us will grow Good Eggs to serve more customers, provide unparalleled service and continue building a unique supply chain of food to expand the market for great local food.
Bentley is a driven entrepreneur who brings a unique combination of experience to our team, having spent the past decade working with mission-driven food businesses. At Plum Organics, one of the shining stars of the B-Corp movement and innovator in organic kid and baby foods, Bentley helped scale the business from zero to $100M+ in sales. Prior to that, he worked at Clif Bar, another mission-driven business that reached great scale, all while staying true to an authentic culture that values sustainability, health and good food.
Bentley is thrilled to be joining Good Eggs (as a customer first, and now as a business partner), and deeply understands the point of view of a food producer. And like our team, he is motivated by the work that we’re doing to build a more sustainable food system—one that supports small farmers and food producers by connecting them directly to customers who value their high quality products.
Stay tuned for exciting next steps in the Good Eggs journey as we keep pushing the envelope on good groceries in 2016, reach new levels of scale and accelerate our impact on the local food community.
