I just thought I’d make a masterpost to sum up what’s going on over here at 「G」u「T」s and fill you in on anything you should know if you ever stop by
★ Erm, this is a g/t blog
Or it mostly is (idk, I’m bad at sticking to a single concept).
You can expect a decent amount of g/t posts that will likely focus on OCs of mine, or just general g/t concepts and tidbits. I’m a big fan of discussion so feel free to reach out and talk about g/t related stuff.
Most of my stuff is SFW. I’m not the biggest fan of graphic nudity or explicitness, but I do have mature content that will likely be depicted in ways beyond innuendo. Any posts containing adult content will have a warning so that those who are uncomfortable can steer clear.
I’m not really into borrowers/shrunken tiny and normal “giant” (but I’m not opposed to experimenting with it if the occasion calls). My tastes are in size shifters and giants (as in, someone that’s giant to a regular sized person).
Once I organize the necessary info about my OCs, you can find more information here in this post :)
I unfortunately write more than I draw 😬
★Some info about me
I’m admittedly new to the g/t community (as well as Tumblr itself) so my posts are most definitely going to be formatted wrong or wonky in some other way, so please give some leeway 😭🙏
I’ve always been really into g/t, but was too embarrassed to interact with it in any way besides thinking of scenarios. I like to do art and write, but really only ever had two canon giant/tiny characters, which of course no one in existence knows about (except you now. Sort of lol). Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that this blog is a pretty big deal for me, and I’m crazy excited to interact with this community.
I’m in the process of finishing up my college degree at a school that is insanely demanding, and I work full time, so I’m not the most organized with the online world. Still, I’ll try and make it a habit to post as much as possible.
Something I’ve been thinking about lately is: do other people curate specific music for their g/t stuff?”
I mean, I’m pretty sure the answer is a big fat obviously, but I lowkey just wanted an excuse to post my fave G/T songs 😸
SO if you’re looking for music to either listen to while doing art/writing or you’re looking for something to daydream to, mayhaps check out what I’ve listed here
(⚠️ song #11 contains NSFW themes. None of its content is explicitly mentioned in this post, but just know that it’s there ⚠️)
1. I crush Everything by Jonathan Colton
If you haven’t heard of him before, you def need to check him out. He has a lot of really good character driven songs (he’s also the guy that made that one portal song). This one’s cool because while it’s technically about some sort of monster (I think a kraken based on how it’s described), it’s subtle enough for you to insert whatever image you have in mind for the narrator.
2. Gigantic by Pixies
Pixies are probably one of my favorite bands, and funny enough, this song was my first intro to them. I had to be like 9 or 10 when Gigantic was used in some ad for apple’s garage-band, and I was O B S E S S E D with it. I didn’t have the wits to try and find the song on my family’s computer (which is a blessing JFC), but I’d hum it throughout my day, especially at soccer practice. I finally found it again in high school and omg, it’s such a good g/t song please please please listen
3. Stupidly Happy by XTC
XTC is such a GOAT band (they’re my most listened to artist), and they surprisingly have a good amount of size difference referenced in a lot of their songs. (I’ve debated if the lead singer/writer Andy Partridge had some kind of unknown G/T interest lol). This one is such a cute song in general, but the line “I’m a giant who’ll play you a tune for wherever you are” is just so rad. Big kiss for this one *mwah*
4. Ten Feet Tall by XTC
Again, another amazing G/T song by XTC, this one more direct. Such a cute song and concept. Loves it
5. Statue of Liberty by XTC
DO YOU NOW SEE WHY I THINK HE LEGIT MIGHT HAVE A G/T THING LMFAO
6. White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane
Literally such a perfect Alice and Wonderland themed song with an undercurrent of angst. Plus it’s from the 70s, so that’s pretty cool
7. In A Big Country by Big Country
This one isn’t as explicitly G/T coded as the songs mentioned above, but it has potential for a borrower’s perspective. Also, the line “like a lover’s voice fires the mountainside” is bars. Warning: this song is painfully 80s
8. Runaway by Self
Again, not the most obvious G/T song (it doesn’t have any reference to size difference), but it’s kind of a cheeky fear play song in a weird way. I like to imagine the narrator as a size shifter who’s sort of oblivious to how overwhelming his presence may be, and so he misinterprets why it is that his love interest is so averse to intimacy, and believes they’re enticing him to chase them when they’re really just running from fear.
9. Little Pink Stars by Radish
Some more non-explicitly G/T stuff here, but I love how it’s written in a way that alludes to the narrator not being able to touch their love interest. The singer’s always saying “I want to—“, as if it’s a statement that only exists in the realm of desire alone. It’s never a solidified action, which really underscores the song’s sense of yearning. It’s such a simple song, but there’s so much potential with the lyrics for angsty G/T shenanigans :P
10. Missed by PJ Harvey
I LOVE THIS SONG RAHHHHHHHH 🦅 🦅!!!!!! If your story contains literally any bit of size based idolatry, this would go so hard for whatever scenario you’re thinking. Like the narrator is just stuck in this absolutely brutal state of raw desire that’s unable to be satisfied (likely bc her lover left her, but I feel like that’s up for interpretation) and she’s obsessively idolizing this person in their absence. I feel like this really works in the context of G/T, where a tiny ends up worshipping their big in context to their one on one relationship.
11. ⚠️ Ruiner by Nine Inch Nails ⚠️
This one is a little NSFW coded, so if you’re not down with that maybe don’t listen. Still, this one’s interesting because in a g/t context, I’ve always imagined the narrator as someone adverse to the big. So if your looking for something where the character is actively hating on the giant and trying to fear-monger while also having subtle hints of coy jealousy slipping out, then you’d prob get down to this sick beat.
12. I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams by Weezer
“I’m so tall, can’t get over me. I’m so low, can’t get under me” 🕺 🕺
13. Oh Baby by LCD Soundsystem
There’s literally nothing G/T coded about this one but I just can’t help imagining my OCs to it. My guess is that it’s the more auditory-sensory aspects of the song making it sound, idk like full? It has these huge synth swells that just set off the G/T sensors in my brain if that makes any sense lol
14. Comfort Eagle by Cake
If you’re ever in need of a song that’s G/T coded (and this post is for some reason unavailable to you), you should honestly just look up songs about capitalism. They’re always using gigantic imagery. Having said that, I’ve always liked to maintain this song’s exploitation-based narrative when using it with my OCs. It’s interesting to imagine how extreme size differences would occur within the bounds of western capitalism, so this song is cool for exploring that
15. Great Divide by The Cardigans
I heard this for the first time during some ending credits scene in Mad Men and couldn’t stop thinking of an angsty G/T scene. There’s so much you can do when focusing on the practical limitations of size difference (part of why I love G/T so much), and this song gives a foundation to that. While the G/T imagery here is subtle (mountain part is the most direct you could probably get), the concept of a “great divide” fits so well into G/T. I mean, there is literally a great divide between these characters, logistically. It’s cool to explore how these practical limitations would go on to infect the relationship of a big and tiny.
Anyways, that’s all I have for now. If you guys have any song recommendations PLEASE SHARE IN THE COMMENTS!!! I’m always looking for new music in general, but new G/T music would be rad. Thank you and have a good rest of your day/night!
