Most would assume that the loss of one's parents would be the end of something but for Sadie it was just the beginning. Her father was hard on her since she was a child, wanting big things for her, though she couldn’t make him proud as hard as she tried. No matter if she got good grades, had a plan for her future, but it wasn’t enough. Sadie wanted to become a mortician, always fascinated with the human body and what exactly happens in death even when she was young. It didn’t end up being a surprise to her when she discovered there was more to her and that she possessed powers. After some research, she learned this was from her mother’s side of the family and assumed it was something she’d kept from her father or maybe that was why he’d been so tough on her. Sadie didn’t want to find out, keeping this to herself as she learned about her newfound abilities. The girl would go into the forest and see what she was able to do, using books to learn and start testing out what she was capable of.

She was only 14 when she lost her father in a fatal car accident. Sadie was in the back seat when it happened, not remembering anything that happened besides waking up at the hospital to a bright light in her face and her uncle sitting beside her. That’s when she was told that her father hadn’t survived and she knew she should’ve been more distraught about losing him than she did. To her, it meant a new life, maybe even a better one and that’s when Sadie moved in with her uncle Oogie. He was the one to give her the nickname of Shock after he clocked her abilities when she accidentally caused one of the machines to hit the jackpot by touching it. For the first time, she felt like she was somewhere she could not only thrive but be herself. As she got older Shock started to invest more time into the casino, watching Oogie, and learning from him. Even though she’d spent most of her life wanting to be a mortician, this gave her the opportunity to finally do something right and make someone proud. That’s when Shock started working for Oogie full-time instead of going off to college, training to one day take over the business from the man who she’d come to consider her father. 

Along with Oogie she met Barrel and Lock who became her partners in crime. There had always been a bit of tension between her and Landon, though she never let it phase her. If anything, it drove her to keep showing him up which wasn’t difficult to do according to Shock. This was something she actually enjoyed fighting for, wanting nothing more than to make Oogie proud and doing what she needed to in order to achieve that. Even though the boys get on her nerves she’s grown to love them and them being the only people who know the real her. It wasn’t long before Lock and Barrel found out about her powers, as they worked together to cause the most chaos possible. Even though her newfound family is dysfunctional she wouldn’t want it any other way. She’s even taken it upon herself to start causing her own trouble to those who are problems and using her power to seek revenge for their wrong-doings. Karma takes too long so she figures it’s a job she might as well do herself. Between work and causing a muck she still finds time to mess with Lock and Barrel who are her favorite people, though never actually telling them that.

Landon hadn't seen much of either of his roommates lately, having been spending his time outside of the house more than he had recently thanks to a blonde he was trying to find a way to see when he could. He felt a bit guilty, knowing that Sadie probably wouldn't approve of him being with Angel, but he could argue that it was far different than what Barrel was doing with Annette. They were two different things entirely: Angel and Landon were just having fun, both with the understanding that nothing serious would come of their situation. In fact, he could see her getting along with Sadie better than either of them probably expected, now knowing the blonde well enough. "I'm here to save you from paperwork," he confirmed, taking her hand to join her in bed, a kiss placed atop her head before he shifted to sit. "Well, someone has to hold down the fort while you're here working, you know, and someone's been dropping some of his shifts," Landon reminded her. "But, there's something I wanted to talk to you about, too. Someone. But, before you freak out, it's nothing like the Hopper kid, promise."

Things had felt different in her home, the boys who usually occupied it had been distracted. Most of the time Sadie wouldn't blink an eye and simply assume they were busy with one thing or another. That was except for when it involved another woman, specifically one they were serious enough about to take their time from her. It was Landon that she'd clung to while Brandon galavanted off with the Hopper girl; who she would still swear was a bad idea. They had been the ones to snatch her from in front of her father's eyes and now Brandon wanted to stand with her in his view. Work had distracted her enough to be quiet about Landon's recent schedule, being holed up at work or in her room for most days. It was what he'd said next that started to clear up some of those questions Sadie had yet to ask. "Okay..." The brunette turned to face him while crossing her legs to be more comfortable. It felt like they would be having a conversation deeper than intended, her work on the backburner now. "So, who is she? What is it like if it isn't like the Hopper girl?"

To say that he agreed with what Sadie was doing was a bit of a stretch. It was more that he went along with it because he knew just how much this plan meant to her, above everything else. Landon didn't have particularly strong feelings either way: he was simply willing to stand on the sidelines as moral support and be a distraction wherever she needed, but it seemed like she wanted to take most of the reigns on this one herself. Instead, Landon had simply taken it upon himself while she was planting her concoctions to distract their roommate, to be sure that there was no interception with Sadie's plan. The last thing he needed was to be stuck in the middle of his already feuding partners. "Back without a hitch," he replied proudly, bringing her hand to his lips before she gave him kisses of her own. Sadie was buzzing with satisfaction in both herself and the way the evening was going, which meant that his night could continue without damage control. "Perfect. Now, for the best part: watching the implosion," he cooed, slipping an arm around her waist as they fell back in tune. "Anyone we know I should be keeping an eye on?"

Sadie had papers scattered on her bed, flipping between piles looking for the receipt she needed. Tax season was always filled with busier days and longer nights to be sure everything was in order for the casino's accounts. She'd been locked up in there for hours before the door opened, Landon's face bringing a smile to hers. "Is that really you or am I hallucinating now?" She teased while holding out her hands to invite him closer. The paper strewn about got shifted to the side to clear room for him to sit with her. This would be the first human interaction she'd gotten since returning from work, both of her boys being gone when she arrived. "Where have you been? I'm glad you're back so my brain can stop rotting away in here," Sadie said pulling him to her side once she got to her bed. He'd been exactly what she needed and to be caught up on all the latest.

“Am I not allowed to have a friend?” he asks, his tone ever so slightly accusing and far harsher than he’s ever spoken to either of his roommates. It hardly seems fair to Brandon, all three of them were known for hooking up and sharing their time with others and it had never been an issue before now. In fact, he was quite certain that Landon has had far more partners in the bedroom than either of the other two combined. But all because Barrel had found someone he liked to spend some time with now, it was a problem. “She cares but it’s… It’s complicated, I guess. But you weren’t there, not the whole time,” he tries to explain, despite not actually giving any real explanation at all. “And we don’t talk about work or anything like that. I’m not stupid, you know. I know better than to bring up anything with Oogie or her dad.” It was ridiculous on paper, their relationship, but Barrel didn’t care in the slightest that she was a Hopper - he didn’t care that they were technically now on opposing sides of a brewing war. He liked Annette simply for who she is, nothing else.

"Is she really just a friend though and nothing else?" Sadie questioned his words, eyeballing him as she spoke. Even his tone had shifted into one that she never heard and the brunette was happy to return the favor. If he wanted to point fingers then hers was already outstretched. She'd had a bad taste in her mouth ever since he started hanging around Annette and that wasn't going to change just because he trusted her. Whether her boys wanted her to or not, she'd taken it upon herself to protect them at all costs, though it appeared that Barrel couldn't see the danger of his new friend. "It didn't seem complicated when we were kidnapping her," the brunette muttered, her eyes for a moment going back to the papers on the coffee table. Things made sense when they were working and doing what they did best but recently his chaos had come in a different package. This one was a short brunette who Sadie considered to be a threat to her family dynamic. "It's not just about that." The girl's gaze shot back to him, hoping he saw the worry beneath the jealousy. "You're going to have to pick a side sooner or later. She's a Hopper, whether you think it matters or not. And I don't expect him to take it well when he finds out it's one of Oogie's boys hanging around his little princess." Sadie understood doing things for the chaos but this was one that she couldn't comprehend, knowing what could could come when the inevitable happened. "What about me, and Landon? What are we going to do if something bad happens to you because of her?"

The moment whatever idea that'd sparked came into her head, Landon knew there would be nothing that could stop her. It was easier to go along with it, as he'd learned over the years, and stay on her good side by supporting her vision however he could. Often times, there was no real harm done at the end of it besides a few laughs shared by the time they got home, and a mess in their wake. He wasn't about to turn down the opportunity to fuck with one of the stuffiest parties of the whole year, especially not when they hadn't been able to at the last engagement party, thanks to the man hosting it. At least they'd had their fun at the wedding.

Landon's hands came to her cheeks as she shifted in her spot, leaning forward to place a kiss on her forehead. "What do you have going on up there?" he teased, keeping her face in his grasp as he raised a brow. He knew her well enough to already have a few ideas, some of which included putting some curse on their roommate's date. Landon wasn't going to entirely disagree, but the most he could do was cover his eyes and live in blissful ignorance. "I can tell you already have it all figured out. I know your face when it clicks. Whatever it is, I'm in."

Sadie was already giggling by the time she got back to Landon, holding the silver tray that had been her vessel for chaos against her chest. He had been the only one she could trust with the information of what she planned to do that night. She'd needed his help to sneak them in and distract who he could while Sadie handed out the goods. It was a foolproof plan: people were hungry and rarely asked questions when free food was being offered. That's why the witch used that to her advantage. A few had been hand-delivered, those targets not being any she would risk with chance. Now that her platter was cleared Sadie returned to partner in crime to watch from the sidelines and dip out when the time was right. "Mission accomplished," she boasted, tossing the plate onto a table to rid herself of any evidence, and holding out her hand for him to take. "I couldn't have done it without you though, my love." Sadie pulled herself to his side to plant a soft kiss on his neck, cheek, and finally, his lips. Whenever they executed a plan she'd get even more touchy than usual, finding their adventures added a thrill of their own. "I already saw Pacifica going upstairs with someone else so things are going perfectly," the girl purred with her eyes scanning up to meet his instead of overlooking the partygoers.

Entering the apartment with the same wide, doofy looking grin he always wore, Brandon didn’t really think anything of his entrance or what it might mean to either of his roommates, arriving this late at night. It wasn’t like it was the first time any of them had stayed out a bit late with someone else and it certainly wouldn’t be the last time it happened either. But when he drops down to sit on the couch beside Sadie, ready to ask if she needed any help working on whatever paperwork it was she had in her hand, he’s met instead with a bitter quirp hidden underneath forced indifference. It didn’t take any more than that for his grin to quickly drop, a frown replacing it - one that held all of the hurt he had continuously been trying so hard to hide from either roommate. “Don’t call her that,” he requests automatically, leaning back further into his seat as he realizes he’s put off this conversation long enough. If he continued to push it all away and pretend like everything was normal, it was only going to get worse - her resentment would only grow. “She’s always been my friend - we just hang out more now, that’s all.” It wasn’t quite the entire truth but it certainly wasn’t a lie either, and Barrel felt comfortable leaving his explanation at just that, at least for right now. Rolling his eyes, he shot the girl beside him an unimpressed look. “You know she doesn’t have magic, she didn’t do anything. I just like spending time with her, that’s all.” It wasn’t going to be enough to satisfy Sadie and he knew that, but it’s not like it was a lie.

His request was met with a scowl, her eyes squinting at him as he sat down in his usual spot. It wouldn't be something she'd be saying while he was around but she wanted him to know that she thought it true. Sadie saw it as a break in their agreement, spending more time with her than the duo that used to take up most of his time. Envy had taken over her features as she observed him. Her scent still radiated off of him, her cheap perfume making Sadie's stomach churn. "You've never had a friend like her before," she added to his excuse. Even if he wanted to say that it was nothing that didn't make it true. Whatever they were, she didn't like it. "Hm, sure, just like spending time with her. Makes sense." Regardless of her words, it was obvious that she didn't believe any of that. Friends or not, this girl was too close. "Does she just like not care about the fact that we kidnapped her or what? You know she can't know about what we do, she's a Hopper, Brandon. We can't trust her," Sadie said reminding him of who her father was. If she'd learned anything it was to not trust a Hopper.

"Come on, play nice," he halfheartedly scolded, doing his due diligence as self-appointed peacekeeper in this situation without taking too much of a stance. Landon knew that she was going to take it more personally than he did, but he rarely got jealous over anyone the other two were seeing. All he needed was to know that it was going to be the three of them in the end, forever, which had been agreed upon a long time ago. Everyone else in between were just distractions, people to keep them busy while they were still young. As long as the other two took that commitment as seriously as he did, Landon didn't see a problem in sight.

Little did she know, a certain blonde had been keeping some of his attention distracted from his roommates. But, to know that Sadie didn't suspect anything meant that it wasn't serious enough to be told, especially when she was already so touchy about Annette. "Mmm, I don't think so," he answered, a hum against her lips. "Why, who do you have in mind? I think I might already know, if you're feeling predictable."

"Do I ever?" She purred, a smirk curling up on her lips. Even on the playground, she wasn't the girl to share and instead shoved anyone's face into the sand who tried. It wasn't in her nature to play nice when it was so much more fun to play dirty. Besides, there were still tricks up her sleeve that had yet to see the light of day. As long as she had Landon by her side she knew that things would at least be alright. Barrel having found someone else to spend his time with meant that she'd taken over the living room as her nest. If she was spending most of her time on the couch working then she might as well claim the space so that he knew to not bring this floozy over into her territory. Right now Sadie was withholding herself entirely from Brandon which led to most nights being spent in Landon's bed, having velcroed herself to the truest loyalty she had. This girl was different, Sadie felt it like an ache every time her boy was with her. Annette had seen the other side of the curtain and knew her their operations went which was too close as far as Sadie was concerned.

A malicious giggle tumbled from her lips while she shifted her position to face him on the couch, her legs crossing comfortably as she did. "Maybe a little bit of both. They're sneaking into that engagement party anyway, right?" The wheels in her head had already been turning and now just cranked that mischievous smile onto her face. "It would be like shooting fish in a barrel and it's only one night. What's wrong with making it a little interesting?"

It hadn't been a secret to anyone that Sadie wasn't happy with the current situation with Annette. The only reason she hadn't given the girl a real piece of her mind was because she of how much cared about Brandon. Still, even that excuse was being pushed to its max as she fought back venom whenever the other female was around. Even though the trio were in an open relationship that didn't mean she wanted him galavanting around with someone this much, especially not the Hopper kid that they'd kidnapped. When he came back today from seeing her yet again, Sadie was holed up on the couch looking through paperwork in preparation for doing the casino's taxes. That meant that there was no avoiding her gaze as it snapped to him once he walked through to the door. "Have fun with your little harlot?" Sadie said nonchalantly but they all knew that she meant it as bitterly as possible. "What do you even see in her any way that you didn't see when we were locking her in the basement?" Maybe it would've been in better judgment to hold her tongue, that's exactly why she didn't. "Did she like hypnotize you or something?"

While one of his roommates was spending more time out of their apartment than ever, the other had been adopting the exact opposite approach. Sadie had been home more than usual, participating in more reckless activity than ever since she'd found out that the scare had been just that. In turn, Landon had also been home with her for a record amount of time, keeping her busy while she sulked and complained about how much time Barrel had been with Annette.

It didn't take long for her least favorite couple to make their way back into conversation, Sadie barely making it through one piece of sushi before the two were mentioned again. Landon didn't mind it either way: hearing about, or about the two in general, but he had to question whether Annette was worth all this trouble. The apartment had never felt so divided since they moved in. "Oh, trust me, he remembers. Whether she does, I question," he countered, giving her a light poke with the end of his chopstick. "You know I'll take any excuse to spend time with just you. A guy doesn't get so lucky this often." He'd never been particularly sappy, but let it slip sometimes for two people in particular.

Maybe it had been needy of her but she felt safe having him see that side of her. There had always been something different between her and Landon that their time away from Barrel was making her realize even more. She loved them both, certainly, but she thought of the boy beside her as the one who had seen her in her entirety. It had brought out a more sinister side of her, though some would argue that was the only one she had. "She doesn't seem all that intuitive so I wouldn't put it past her," the girl muttered with a light roll of her eyes. His action caused her nose to scrunch at him and her gaze followed.

He was right, at least the circumstances had allowed them to spend time together. It even got a smile from her though it was stubbornly sitting at the edge of her lips. "I have to admit, sometimes it's nice to not share you with anyone," she hummed leaning against him and brushing her nose across his cheek after pressing it with a kiss. It was a mutual agreement to be open but right now she wanted him to herself. "Speaking of, I was wondering if you had any Valentine's Day plans? I am thinking it might be the perfect day for some mischief, I haven't hexed anyone in a while and I gotta make sure I'm not losing my touch."
