Looking GOOD! Classic vintage Plug print. #beano #plug #vintage #tshirt #screenprinting #pantone #matched #retro #comic
Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, was seen reading a Beano summer special from 1981 in an episode aired on April 6, The Rings Of Akhaten.
Publishers were inundated with messages from fans and decided to reprint the 32-page comic, including it free inside a special edition of The Beano which is now on sale.
The front cover features a caricature of Matt Smith and Dennis the Menace making short work of a Dalek.
Editor-in-chief Mike Stirling said: “Everyone at The Beano was delighted to see one of our summer specials appear on Doctor Who. We’re big fans of the show and so are our readers, who haven’t stopped talking about it.
“Some of the strips are colour while some are black and white. We’ve stayed true to the original summer special so that our readers can really find out what The Beano was like more than 30 years ago.
“We hope Matt Smith and the whole Doctor Who team love this issue. We’re giving every child the opportunity to travel back in time, just like the Doctor.”
Baba me, I’m sorry but I’m adorable!

Dennis the Menace
Daily Draw of March 26th – Comic Book Characters.
Dennis the Menace is a staple of the British comic book Beano. Definitely featured prominently in my childhood – we even had relatives who mailed us weekly physical copies of Beano all the way from the UK to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where we lived for the majority of my younger life.
For reference, here are some more classic depictions of Dennis:
I was that gimp in primary school who collected Beano annuals #why
I am super lucky to be freelancing with the great Hemingway Design, after leaving my Senior Design position of 7 years back in 2011. Since Judy has been born I have worked on additions to the Haberdashery range for John Lewis & projects with DC Thomson for Beano’s 75th Anniversary. This...
