Choir ask made me remember the fact that I quit my school’s choir freshman year because I’m a contra-alto/baritenor and I got put in the alto group, but that was Too High for me, so I learned the boy’s part instead (a sign on my transgenderness, frankly...), and my choir teacher hated that so she tried to make me a soprano.

That’s highly unfortunate. I understand trying to push your students to their full potential, but that is utterly absurd! You shouldn’t try to force someone into a role they have no training for.
