Hello and welcome! This is a remake of my old masterpost, figured it was time to update it! Below is some series information, the Ao3 link, and the episodes/chapters!

EDIT: I've also decided this post will include character bios (both heroes and villains!).

~ Series Synopsis! ~

After an alternate series of events from Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (where Henry Jekyll survived and went through a recovery process, as opposed to taking his own life or being arrested), an organization is formed between Jekyll & his colleague-turned-friend Professor Van Helsing. This organization, the Society, focuses on not only providing therapy & re-integration for those dubbed as "monsters", but also bettering Victorian London's understanding of them. If this process cannot reasonably be done, the Society focuses on making sure said "monster" is no longer able to harm the public.

What is this blog/series?

This blog serves as the hub for my main fanfiction series, based on various works of gothic fiction media. Think of it as my own spin on a Universal Monsters-esque shared universe, with some characters serving as the "good guys" and others as villains. It is set in the later 19th-century, primarily in London. (Note, this series deals with some pretty heavy or messed-up things on occasion, so be mindful of this!)

Are fanart/OCs/ask submissions allowed?

Yes, absolutely! You are free to draw any of the characters or scenes, or even make your own OCs that fit into the continuity! I also would love to hear from you, whether you're asking one of the heroes (or me directly), giving feedback, etc...! Just make sure to tag me if you do make fanart/OCs for the series!

Is the series fully canon-compliant?

No, it isn't, and I have no problem admitting this. If I were to be fully canon-compliant, then this series wouldn't be able to take place (several of the characters would be dead). That being said, I try to do my research on the stories/characters while still doing something new. So, while it won't be one-to-one with the original versions, I try to stay relatively faithful.

What inspired this series?

It was originally intended as a complete rewrite of my OC universe. Now, it's a separate continuity with some overlap and an actual series narrative. The series itself can be thought of as a relatively less edgy, "blow-shit-up" League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

The Rogues Gallery: Claude Griffin (The Invisible Man)

Full Name: Claude Hawley Griffin. (Aliases include "The Invisible Man" and "London's Ghost".)

Voiceclaim: Patrick Page

Age: 52 years (about a month younger than Dr. Jekyll)

Species: Human (mutated)

Ethnicity & Religion: English (has albinism), unknown religious affiliation.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender Male (he/him), aromantic-asexual.

Height: 6ft

Powers: Griffin is capable of rendering himself invisible, via his own concoction he calls "monocaine". Other than that, he has no true powers.

Claude Griffin was Dr. Henry Jekyll's old university dorm-mate, and a former friend of his. Their friendship fractured when Jekyll completed his degree early, further damaged by him gaining recognition for his work while Griffin was left behind. Because of this, Griffin has become consumed by an obsessive need for recognition by any means necessary, even spreading panic & fear around London.

He is quite the intelligent and clever man, albeit arrogant and believing himself better than everyone else. He's come to enjoy causing trouble around London, the only things he's actually scared by are 1) getting caught by law enforcement, and 2) Edward Hyde.

Episode 4: "Taken In Stryde" - Part 1

Episode Synopsis:

Two weeks after the events of Episode 3, Henry Jekyll is reminded of a charity event he has to attend later. That night, he lets his pride get the better of him and invites Dr. Simon Stryde, a scientific rival that he regularly clashes with, into his Estate, much to the dismay of the rest of the Society. But it seems Dr. Stryde is hiding some rather dark secrets of his own...

Two whole weeks since Lawrence had finally banished his father’s ghost. Since he’d gained full control of his “curse”. And here Henry Jekyll was, studying a blood sample from him like the man was a test subject. While that alone didn’t bother him… he really could have done without the commentary of his alter-ego.

“Would you look at that… his blood cells hardly differ from a regular person’s. Makes me wonder what would happen if we spiked his drink with—”

“Absolutely not, Edward,” Jekyll interrupted. He didn’t want to entertain the notion, not even for just a second. “We’re not ever going to pass our burden onto somebody else. Much less Lawrence.”

“I was joking… killjoy.”

“That ‘joke’ is in incredibly poor taste, and we both know that.” Jekyll’s focus resumed, and then broken not even a few minutes later, by a quick set of knocks on the door to his private lab. “Just a moment-!”

The door soon was opened up, and Jekyll was greeted by Nellie Lovett, still in her nightgown and with her bushy, dark hair loose. Normally, she’d have been fully dressed and ready for the day before officially greeting him in the morning, but judging by this, it had to be at least somewhat important.

“Nellie? What is it?” Jekyll raised an eyebrow, before he took notice of the paper she was holding in her hand. Weird, he hadn’t gotten any letters recently. Just the occasional packages and his usual shipments of supplies as of late.

“Was there something you forgot? Happening today, maybe?” She handed him the piece of paper, and as his eyes scanned it, it dawned on him what she was just talking about. The paper was a previous invitation to a local charity event. That evening. And he had completely forgotten it was even happening, what with the recent situations the Society had been tangled up in taking up most of his focus.

“… Oh. I don’t know how I forgot about this…” As his eyes scanned the invitation, Nellie eventually pointed to one particular part of it, getting the doctor’s attention on that section specifically. Apparently, he was allowed to bring a “plus-one” with him.

“If you have a special someone you’re seeing, now’s your chance-!” She beamed at him, tugging the invitation back down with one hand. In response, Jekyll raised an eyebrow and pursed his lips.

“As much as I appreciate the sentiment, Nellie… I don’t have a significant other, you know that. And besides, the invitation clearly says they must be an expert in the supernatural field as well.”

Almost immediately after he finished speaking, an idea soon clicked for her. She jerked her head towards the direction of Victoria’s own residence in the neighborhood, that knowing smile returning. “Why not ask Tori? She could go with, and besides, I already said I’d keep watch on Ada & Elsa for her.”

Jekyll thought for just a few seconds, turning the notion over silently. A smile soon formed, and he gave a small nod to Nellie. “You know, you may be onto something, I’ll go ask.”

“Your funeral, Henry… she doesn’t have a doctorate, unlike you and the Professor.”

One look in her mirror was all that it took for her to scoff at this whole thing. Victoria was a woman of science first, not someone who regularly attended these fancy galas and masquerades. Sure, maybe back before her brief college days. But not now. Even Mina’s reassurance and assistance with getting ready wasn’t helping.

“You’re going to be there among like-minded scientists,” Mina began, assisting Victoria with getting her corset secured. “I doubt anything will happen— Tori, stand up straight. I can’t lace this properly if you’re hunched over like that.”

With a quick readjustment of her posture, Victoria huffed and crossed her arms. “That’s the thing, I don’t know that. And I don’t know the people attending it, Henry aside.” One hand reached up to brush some of her raven hair back behind her ear, just as Mina finished. “Too many variables.”

“Oh, hush. You’ll be fine.” Mina stood back up from her seat, grabbing the dress she’d picked out for Victoria to wear: a navy-blue ballgown, with silver accents and black trim around the collar & the hem of the skirt piece. “Besides, you need to get out of the neighborhood more, dealing with dangerous beings aside.”

Victoria just rolled her eyes, slipping the dress on. Once fully in it, she gave Mina one final glance before heading out. “Fine. But don’t expect me to be rubbing elbows with the other guests while I’m there.”

Meet The Society: Erik Mulheim

Full Name: Erik Mulheim. (Unknown if that's his actual surname, or one he adopted. Also called "The Phantom Of The Opera", "Angel Of Music", and "Opera Ghost".)

Age: Unknown, likely around Jekyll's age.

Species: Human (malformed)

Ethnicity & Religion: French/German, atheist.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender male (he/him), asexual.

Height: 6ft

Role: Illusionist, inventor.

Erik, previously known as the Phantom Of The Opera, has been in hiding, ever since he faked his death and fled to London. He was eventually encountered by Jekyll and officially recruited into the Society. He initially struggled to get over Christine, but with Jekyll's help, has begun the process of letting her go.

Having been deformed and treated like a freak from birth, Erik is deeply mistrusting of most people, and puts on an act of being cold & unfeeling. He rarely goes outside of Jekyll's Estate unless necessary, and never without his mask covering his corpselike face. However, he has come to genuinely care about and look out for his teammates, even if they can get on his nerves, and willingly drops his façade when it truly matters.

Meet The Society: Nellie Lovett

Full Name: Eleanor Cornelia Lovett. (Often just called "Nellie" or "Ms. Lovett".)

Voiceclaim: Cynthia Erivo

Age: 34 years old

Species: Human

Ethnicity & Religion: Black Englishwoman, non-affiliated (left Christianity when she was a teenager)

Gender, Sexuality, & Pronouns: Cisgender female (she/her), bisexual (only out to those she trusts)

Height: 5ft 4in (without heels)

Role: Informant (has a side gig as Jekyll's paid housekeeper)

Alignment: True Neutral

Nellie, the Society's main informant on strange things around London, is the former owner of a local pie shop business that started on Fleet Street. She used to be seen around a man going by the name Sweeney Todd, but after their falling out, she no longer associates herself with him (for multiple reasons that only Jekyll is truly aware of).

She's a practical, snarky, and more often than not, cynical woman. She also has a habit of being a hopeless romantic & falling in love easily, but is a bit more hesitant to act on it in most cases. Within the Society, she's bonded the most with Lawrence (as his "anchor"/"safe person"), and Mina (as a close friend; she tends to borrow novels from her occasionally!), and sometimes even supervises Ada & Elsa when Tori can't.

Meet The Society: Lawrence Talbot

Full Name: Lawrence James Talbot. (Aliases include "The Wolfman" and "The Werewolf Of London". While he has been nicknamed "Larry" & "Lance", he doesn't respond that positively to these.)

Voiceclaim: John Owen-Jones

Age: 32 years old.

Species: Werewolf (formerly human)

Ethnicity & Religion: Welsh-English, atheist.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender male (he/him), heterosexual.

Height: 6ft (in human form; wolf form adds a few inches.)

Role: Tracker, field agent, combatant.

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Powers: Able to shift between human and wolf forms (can be done at will after Ep3: "Howling Memories", but this is also automatically triggered by stress). Possesses superhuman strength, speed, and heightened senses in both forms.

Lawrence Talbot has had a very rough life. From witnessing his mother's murder as a child, to being raised by an abusive father, and even being afflicted with lycanthropy as a young man, it's a wonder he's still managed to stay sane. He was found in Fogg's Asylum, having admitted himself after his final fight with his dad John. Dr. Jekyll and Van Helsing got him released under their watch, as the first member of the Society.

Lawrence is a soft-spoken man with a heart of gold. He's well-read and kind, but doesn't socialize that much outside of the neighborhood. He prefers not to beat around the bush, being rather forward with what's on his mind in most cases. Since his time in Jekyll's Estate, he's formed a close bond with Nellie Lovett. He's agreed to help the Society, out of a sense of personal debt towards both Dr. Jekyll and Van Helsing for rescuing him.

Meet The Society: Elsa Pretorius-Frankenstein

Full Name: Elsa Pretorius-Frankenstein (greatly prefers to go by "Elsa Frankenstein", took on Victoria & Ada's surname to distance herself from her creator.)

Voiceclaim: Lauren Marcus

Age: Unknown; appears and thinks like a young adult. (Technically immortal.)

Species: Neo-Vitae

Ethnicity & Religion: Appears to be Black. She's unsure on what religion to follow.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender female (she/her), pansexual.

Height: 6ft 10in.

Role: Empath, backup.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Powers: Superhuman strength, durability, & regenerative healing factor (to the point she can't actually die). Able to sense the general emotions and intentions of those around her, including unseen individuals.

Elsa, nicknamed The Bride, was found wandering London's streets at night, and subsequently taken in & given a home by them. She's rather sweet, often quiet, and kind, if inexperienced with the world. Like her girlfriend Ada, she is a very fast learner and incredibly intelligent. She's a pacifist at heart, only truly fighting someone else for her own safety (or that of those around her). She seems to have a deep-rooted fear of open flame, even avoiding the fireplace in Jekyll's Estate (and the one in the Frankenstein residence) when it's actively going.

Meet The Society: Ada Frankenstein

Full Name: Ada Lucy Frankenstein. (Name derived from "Adam" & "Lucifer"; adopted Victoria's surname post-reconciling. Called "love" by Elsa on occasion.)

Voiceclaim: Jinkx Monsoon

Age: 7 years since animation; thinks and looks like a young adult, technically ageless.

Species: "Neo-Vitae" (meaning: "New Life", coined by Victoria.)

Ethnicity & Religion: Created from primarily White people. Undecided religion.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Transgender female (she/her), asexual-sapphic.

Height: roughly 7ft.

Role: Backup, tank.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Powers: Superhuman strength, speed, & durability; healing factor (to the point she literally can't die).

Ada is much happier in the current day, now that she's found community and a lover! She is extremely intelligent and often gentle, but can become vindictive if she is pushed too far. She is also blunt to a fault, and socially, not necessarily the best (which is understandable, given what her early life was like), but means well most of the time. While she understands her "mother" means well, Ada can sometimes get restless and want to explore outside the sanctuary neighborhood (when not out in the field, that is!). The one thing that irritates her is being called "Frankenstein's Monster/Creature", she personally finds that moniker very insulting and invalidating.

Meet The Society: Victoria Frankenstein

Full Name: Victoria Mary Frankenstein. (Often shortened to "Tori". Called "Mum/Mother" by Ada.)

Voiceclaim: Barrett Wilbert Weed

Age: 27 years

Species: Human

Ethnicity & Religion: Swiss/Italian descent, undetermined religion.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender female (she/her), demiromantic-asexual.

Height: 5ft 2in (without heels)

Role: Biologist/inventor; single parent to Ada & unofficial guardian of Elsa

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Victoria is a brilliant young woman, finding her way as both a scientist and (on technicality) single mother after starting fresh in London. She and Ada, her Creature/daughter, are on much better terms these days than they had been initially. She has a habit she's trying to kick of being overconfident in her scientific exploits, sometimes realizing midway through certain projects that it may be going a bit too far (if somebody like Jekyll hasn't warned her already). She's also not the best at taking care of herself; she'll forget to eat or sleep when fully invested in something (Nellie has called her out on this multiple times!). Since reconciling with Ada, she's become a bit overprotective of her.

Meet The Society: Mina Murray-Harker

Name: Wilhelmina Murray-Harker (shortened to "Mina" most of the time)

Voiceclaim: Susan Egan

Age: 28 years old

Species: Metahuman (previously, human)

Ethnicity: German-English, Protestant

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender female (she/her), questioning but definitely attracted to men.

Height: 5ft 5in (without heels)

Role: Occult researcher, psychic (to an extent)

Alignment: Neutral Good

Powers: Limited ability to "see" what other people are thinking, or literally see their point of view. (This can backfire and overwhelm her.)

Mina is one of the most progressive members of the Society. She is highly intelligent and compassionate, but doesn't mess around when things get serious (or when calling out her male colleagues on any sexist remarks they might make, not even her own husband Jonathan is exempt from this!). Her previous violation by Countess Dracula has left her determined to ensure that it doesn't happen to anyone else, especially since that's still a notable sore spot for her. She is on what we in the modern day would call the Autism Spectrum, her main special interests being the occult and various modes of transportation (most often, ships and trains.)

Meet The Society: Jonathan Harker

Name: Jonathan Harker. (Sometimes shortened to "Jon")

Voiceclaim: Jeremy Jordan

Age: 29 years old

Species: Human

Ethnicity & Religion: predominantly Black Englishman, Protestant

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender male (he/him), heterosexual

Height: 5ft 8in.

Role: Legal consultant, strategist.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Jonathan's a good-hearted, smart man, even if he's somewhat inexperienced with the supernatural. He possesses a strong personal sense of justice, and wears his heart on his sleeve. He can be overly worried about his wife Mina at times (understandably so), but he means well. His experience with the Countess has left him generally uncomfortable around the subject of Vampires, however, he still tries to be polite about it.

Meet The Society: Professor Van Helsing

Name: Abraham Van Helsing. (Often called "Professor" by most of his colleagues. Jekyll calls him "Abe" on occasion.)

Voiceclaim: Colm Wilkinson

Age: 60-something years.

Species: Human

Ethnicity & Religion: Dutch/German, Christian (non-specific; formerly Catholic).

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender male (he/him), generally assumed to be heterosexual.

Height: 5ft 8in.

Role: Occult Expert, Combatant

Alignment: Lawful Good

Abraham Van Helsing, often the "grandpa" of the group, has seen much in his time studying and fending off supernatural beings, and were it not for his own iron will, likely should have gone mad years ago. Eccentric but overall well-intentioned, he is typically Jekyll's second-in-command. While his age is starting to catch up to him, you still do not want to get on his personal "list". (A certain Vampire Countess has found herself on there, and got herself humiliated & nearly killed because of that.) He is dismissed as a crackpot by those he's worked with, but truly knows what he's talking about. While in the past, he was very black-and-white in his beliefs about what constitutes good and evil, he's come to understand there are various shades of gray in there too, as seen by his current working alongside Jekyll/Hyde, Ada, & Lawrence.

Meet The Society: Mr. Hyde

Name: Edward Hyde. (Sometimes shortened to "Eddie", but often just called by last name. Calls himself "The Devil Of London".)

Voiceclaim: Michael Ball

Age: Physically, somewhere in his 20s or 30s. Has existed for a couple years by series start.

Species: Mutated human.

Ethnicity & Religion: Scottish-English; atheist.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender male (he/him), bisexual.

Height: 5ft

Role: Dark counterpart to Jekyll's leadership; enforcer & guardian.

Alignment: True Neutral

Powers: enhanced strength, speed, and healing factor.

Edward Hyde is basically Dr. Jekyll's repressed traits given an outlet, name, and face. Over time, Hyde has evolved into basically his own entity, usually either as that voice in Jekyll's head, or by appearing in mirrors in the Society's residencies. He shares Jekyll's intelligence & memories, but lowered inhibitions by contrast. He can be violent and a bit unhinged, but tends to direct those tendencies towards enemies (usually, those who threaten the safety of the group). Thankfully, he draws the line at being a creep or a bigot, those two lines of thought are ones he doesn't tolerate.

Full Name: Dr. Henry Jekyll. (Often shortened to "Doc" or "Dr. Jekyll")

Voiceclaim: Hugh Jackman

Age: 52 years old, appears slightly younger.

Species: Human (mutated)

Ethnicity & Religion: Scottish-English, atheist.

Gender, Pronouns, & Sexuality: Cisgender male (he/him), bisexual (closeted & very repressed).

Height: 5ft 10in.

Role: Group Leader; Therapist & Doctor

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Dr. Henry Jekyll, the SSRR's public face and leader, is best described as a charismatic, highly intelligent, and charitable man. However, he is also prideful, blunt to a fault, and somewhat short-tempered at times. He has a habit of shoving the parts of himself he doesn't like down and mentally beating himself up for percieved mistakes, even to his own detriment. He's seen his recovery from his previous addiction as a fresh start, and aims to help other "monsters" have the same second chance he got and work through their own personal problems. His true connection to Mr. Edward Hyde has been kept a secret from the general public (thanks in part to Ms. Utterson), and he fully intends to keep it that way.
