The world was introduced with the concept of Cryptocurrency with introduction of Bitcoin by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008.

After that many other Cryptocurrencies have emerged like ethereum, ripple, Bat token, litecoin etc.

In India, RBI issued a circular in 2018 directing banks, NBFCs, other payment service providers to not provide any services to the Crypto Exchange and not have any commercial relations with them.

However, in 2020 Supreme court declared circular issued by RBI as unconstitutional and lifted the ban.

In Jan 2021, Govt issued a statement that it will introduce a bill and a sovereign digital currency will be created and all private currencies will be banned.

However, currently there is no law in India that puts a ban on cryptocurrency or declares it illegal. So as of the date of publishing of this video, anyone can invest in and hold Cryptocurrency in India.
