The trip through the forest was uneventful at best, and soon they had finished up and were back at Haven’s gate, waiting for it to finish unlocking itself.
“Good work today,” Ashelin said over the hissing of the door lock. “I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out.”
She clasped a hand on his shoulder for a second before letting go, stepping into the city.
“Was that actual praise I just heard, or do my ears deceive me?” Daxter asked jokingly, hopping in after her.
“We should celebrate at the Naughty Ottsel!” He’d use anything as an excuse to go and drink. Then again, he had been anxious for them to revert their make shift HQ back into his bar.
"I praised you earlier today, don't make it sound so rare," she said nudging him a bit with her elbow.
"I'm up for drinks, but I still have reports to write after, so lets not get wild." If she was honest she was probably going to start the reports while there, at least until the buzz kicked in.
"You wanna drive?"

She listened though, quietly listening and waiting for the lady to make a mistake or contradict herself, which she did. Even in truthful stories there was always one or two, and this story regrettably seemed like it.
"Fuck."
She didn't exactly feel anything, her mind was just dimly buzzing and empty aside from this realization.
"I have to go," she said, flicking down her kg visor and getting up. She left a comminicator chip on the table. It was only meant to be put on a secondary device to sync data between them, but it worked wonders for exchanging secrets. "I'll be in touch."
