Michael van Beuren, Webbed chairs, 1940s. Made by Domus, Hamburg - Mexico.
The U.S.-born van Beuren (1911-2004) was a Bauhaus-trained architect who emigrated to Mexico City in the late 1930’s. Along with Klaus Grabe and Morley Webb, he designed a prize-winning chaise lounge for MoMA’s 1941 “Organic Design in Home Furnishings” competition. That chaise was the basis for this chair design.
