[Memphis, Tennessee - February 25th, 1930]
It's a dark, cold evening and I'm walking on the streets of Memphis, Tennesee. I walked here from Biloxi, Mississippi. No money. No car. The only things I'm sure of is my name, the date, where I come from, where I am, and what I am.
I look around at my surroundings and see a young couple walking towards me. I close my eyes and ignore the burning sensation in my throat. I've been feeding on animal blood since I "woke up" and found myself in a dark room with a slight headache, no memory of my past, craving human blood.
Once I woke up I saw him. I'm not sure of his name, only his face. He was beautiful. The only thing that frightened me was the sight of seeing him feeding on a human. I felt funny though. I felt a bit of joy and an odd feeling in my chest. I haven't been able to stop seeing him in my visions since.
The couple was now closer. Slowly, I walked into a hotel that thankfully happened to be near and walked to the counter. I smiled at the man at the counter. He blushed and within a second of smelling the sweet blood that pooled up in his cheeks, he was against the wall, struggling in my grasp.
I quickly let him go and backed away. Not only had I frightened him, I had frightened myself. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to... I..." I frowned, trailing off as I ran out of the hotel. I ran until I found the trees that boardered the town.
I sank down onto the ground and shook. I felt so ashamed. I could have killed the boy, who only looked about seventeen. I could have ruined a life. Ruined a family. Ruined a bright young man.
I swallowed as I looked up, seeing a deer. Slowly, I stood up and made my way towards the small animal. I wrapped my arms around it and sank my teeth into it's neck. I quickly relaxed tasting the deer's blood. It wasn't perfect, but it would suffice.
The deer sank to the ground as I emptied it of it's blood. I stood up and looked around for another victim. Not seeing any, I sighed and walked back towards the town. I needed money so I could get a hotel. It wasn't cold, but I wanted somewhere warm to stay. I wanted somewhere where I could make it feel like home, although I don't remember the feeling.
I looked down as I walked, thinking of ways to get money. I hated to steal, but it may come to that. I walked onto the street and saw a small restaurant. Holding my breath as I walked past the group of people, I walked into the building. I looked at the people sitting in the booths and sighed, but then I spotted a woman's purse just sitting on the counter.
I walked over and sat down, wondering where the woman went. I looked around to see if anyone was watching and then opened the purse. I looked inside and saw a very nice wallet. Hiding it under my dress, I walked out of the restaurant and walked down the street a few feet. Once I felt it was safe, I opened the wallet and saw a large amount of cash. Sighing, I closed it and walked into a nearby clothing store.
I smiled widely at what I saw. There were so many colors and styles. It felt natural for me to be in such a place. I picked out a few items that caught my attention and walked to the counter. Smiling, I quickly paid for what I was buying, said thank you, and walked out of the store with the bags. After a few minutes of walking, I found a hotel that looked fairly decent and paid for a room.
As the all-too-willing bellhop showed me to my room, I got lost in a quick vision. I saw the man again. He was talking to another man by the name of Peter and a smile burst on my face hearing his voice. He was from the South, that much I could tell. His eyes were red, but I focused on his voice. It was like honey and I swear I was about to melt before the bellhop nudged me, making me snap out of my peaceful vision.
I smiled and appologized as I walked into the room. It was cozy, small, and a bit lonely, but with the man in my visions to keep me company, it would be okay for now.
