I Like the Dog Cow
There's been some debate about the pros/cons of Apple introducing Yet Another Programming Language for us all to learn.
I see this as a good thing (although of course there's a down side too, isn't life about trade-offs?)- the industry needs to move forward, and Apple in particular needed to move on from Objective C eventually. Some people are mad that they created a whole new language instead of adopting someone else's (existing) language. My take on this: Patents and licensing, baby. Capitalism. They don't want to get sued, or to have to pay licensing fees to a competitor for the rest of forever. So why not innovate and do something new, if you're one of the biggest and most successful technology companies of all time? I'm intrigued to see the new language - who knows, maybe I'll be writing in it someday.
So this Powershell tip is as useful as its name is cool. I mean, come on ... "splatting". How cool does that sound?
