[Gráinne had somehow managed to break into Elias’s house. She’s hiding in the corner of a room. She doesn’t look normal. Her teeth look sharp and her skin looks more…red? Her nails resemble claws or knives. She’s pulling on her hair. It looks like her cross necklace is burning her skin. She’s biting her lip so hard, it’s starting to bleed. Something is definitely wrong.]

[ Barnabas doesn't even notice at first. He's trying to relax in the house and senses something off, but it takes even longer for him to do something about it. When he eventually does find Gráinne, he stumbles back a bit in horror, obviously not recognising her ]

Barnabas…help…

[She’s nearly in tears.]

It really hurts…

Gr- gráinne?

[ Barnabas had shock and confusion in his voice, like he's struggling to understand what was occurring ]

How did you- why are you-

[Gráinne hugs Barnabas tightly. She seems really shaken.]

Oh- alright. I, uh, how...? Goodness...

[ He hopes hugging back will help to calm her, atleast. He's trying ridiculously hard not to let his panic show ]

How do I fix it…? How do I make it stop?

I do not know- oh dear- ah. Counteracting the Slaughter, perhaps? I- how- what circumstances led to... this?

[ His voice is high and panicky. So much for hiding it. ]

You’re meant to be smart! You’re meant to know how to fix this!

I am not smart! I am quite an idiot, in fact!

[ Now it's reached the 'shrill' section. God, he sounds and looks like a mess. ]

[starts kicking his shins]

[ Barnabas yelps ]

Gráinne! Please, at the very least tell me the cause of your appearance so I could attempt to help you!

I DON’T KNOW! AREN’T YOU THE ONE WITH THE ALL KNOWING BOYFRIEND??

He is not my- I am not the all knowing one, as you so kindly point out! I- we- calm down! We must stop- this!

[ Barnabas sort of waves his hands about in an encompassing gesture ]

[Gráinne stops screaming.]

Do you have anything I can stab?

[ Barnabas points to several pillow cushions on the couch while simultaneously scootching away ]

[Gráinne starts stabbing and tearing the pillows. She has a lot of pent up anger right now.]

[ Barnabas mentally apologises to Jonah several times over, but he really is glad he's not the one being stabbed. The whole thing ends up a mix of feathers and cloth ]

[Gráinne is now panting heavily and staring at the pillows. She needs to feed properly eventually…but that can wait.]

... Do you feel well now?

[ Barnabas asks, with no little amount of concern ]

A bit…but it didn’t fix my appearance…

I think the thing that matters is that you are calm. Are you willing to explain how you found yourself like this now? That would help greatly.

I got into a fight at school and one of the sisters shoved me into confessional and she locked me in…they just left me there. I managed to break out eventually and I looked like this…

They what- goodness, I forget how children are. Ah. Hmm. Would... the, this confessional, did it feel strange?

[ No, didn't the Slaughter rely on anger and violence? ]

Or did you feel strange, yourself?

I felt angry…I was screaming and kicking after they locked me in confessional. I think I broke the divider inside…It felt kinda good to destroy it though.

That may have... huh. I- I do think perhaps. Well, it seems the Slaughter has caused... this. So naturally... feeding it would make you more humane? I- I am not the most certain of course-

[ His voice is wavering throughout the entire thing, like he's trying really hard to put the pieces together. Kind of like when he first arrived. ]

How should I feed?

I am not sure? I have read into the Slaughter, it is one of the powers that operate on an individual-basis, though violence is most obviously a common theme.

I got into a fight at school and one of the sisters shoved me into confessional and she locked me in…they just left me there. I managed to break out eventually and I looked like this…
