There it was, the familiar whisper of a joyous giggle carried by the wind. Fujin attempted to hide his growing smile. The garden at the sky temple was in full blossom; that meant that you were at the fountain in the center. He relaxed as he stepped onto the main path, and you came into view. You turned at the sound of his footsteps and gave him a bright smile.
“Look who has returned to me,” you teased while meeting him halfway.
The wind god all too happily lifted you into his arms and pressed a kiss to your lips. As gentle as he was, you could still sense the urgency and hunger radiating from him. Fujin sighed as he pressed his forehead to yours before placing you back on your feet. Immediately, you grabbed his hand a flashed a reassuring smile up at him.
“What troubles you, Love,” you asked.
“Being away from you is not easy,” Fujin admitted.
He sighed and allowed you to guide him to the soft grass beneath one of the many cherry blossom trees. You softly hummed as you pulled him to lean against you with his back to your front. Fujin closed his eyes and relaxed into you while he stirred a pleasant breeze around the two of you. He found himself at peace as you freed his hair from its braid and ran your fingers through the lustrous strands. Too long he had gone without your presence and touch. Nothing brought him joy quite like having you at his side.
“Tell me how she fairs,” you whispered into his ear before placing a sweet kiss against his neck.
His eyes remained closed, but his smile shined just as bright as his eyes would have.
“She grows to be more like you with each passing moment. There is a fierceness and stubbornness in her that surely comes from you, Darling,” he said, “She misses him. I do my best to help her with her grief.”
“Are you sure that her stubbornness does not stem from you or Raiden?” you taunted.
Fujin only chuckled at your response. He could not deny that you had a point. However, he shook those thoughts away and turned his eyes to you. The god swore that there was no other that could compare to your beauty. He wore a devilish smirk as you turned shy under his intense gaze like always. His large hand came to cradle your cheek, and he could feel his heart hammering in his chest as you leaned into him.
“Father,” said another familiar voice, “she is coming.”
You and Fujin tore your eyes from each other to look at your son standing there with a knowing smile. He was used to the affection you two showed each other. From the time he was a child to adulthood, he had only ever seen you two express love for one another. Fujin stood and pulled you to your feet. You watched while he pulled his child into his arms briefly and whispered his love to him. They separated, and he turned to you.
“I am here for you always, Fujin,” you reminded him, “Give them our love.”
Fujin nodded in understanding before he pulled you into his arms once more and pressed those soft lips to yours. Where your lips once met his, there was nothing, only a crisp breeze holding him in your place.
The wind god opened his eyes and exhaled as he glanced around the sky temple garden. It felt so real. It always feels real. He was sitting in the grass with his legs crossed as he meditated.
“Papa Fujin,” came her soothing voice.
A genuine smile took over his face when he turned to see his granddaughter as she raced towards him. Raiden followed her closely with a smile on his face. She threw herself into Fujin's arms, and he was excited to hold her and press kisses to her face.
“My Star! You have come to see your old grandfather,” he said.
“Of course I have! With you and Uncle Raiden here doing who knows what, someone has to stop by and make sure you are okay,” she stated, “I have taken a two-week vacation to spend time with you. Were you meditating?”
“Yes. My attention is all yours now,” he informed her, “What would you like to do? We could collect flowers for your grandmother and father.”
“That is what I was planning. Uncle Raiden will be joining us if that's alright,” she said.
She saw that Raiden had been wary of you when you were alive. Her father told her stories of him and how it took him years to accept that Fujin wanted a family. However, the thunder god could not deny his love for his nephew and great-niece.
“Sure! It is fine. Gather the things, and I will join you in a moment, My Star,” he told her.
She kissed his cheek and eagerly headed inside to gather supplies for picking flowers. Raiden watched as Fujin stood up and turned his head to the sky.
“Are you alright, Brother,” Raiden asked.
“Yes. I miss (Y/n) and (S/n), but they are with me always,” he said.
“Indeed they are,” Raiden reassured him before turning to give him privacy.
Fujin took a deep breath as a breeze not conjured by him but carrying your scent caressed his cheek. The wind god smiled knowingly.
“I love you too, Darling,” he said as the breeze passed.
With those words, he followed Raiden. It had been ten years since he lost you to the tournament and five years since he lost his son to Kronika. Fujin dreaded the day he would lose his Star, but he would enjoy his time with her just as he did with you and (S/n). Life goes on, and he would carry both of you in his heart for as long as he lived.

Everything at the Sky Temple and quiet and serene.
Especially during such a late hour, everything seems to be in a deep lull. Even the eternal storm brewing outside seemed to quiet down. It’s like it somehow knew it’s residents were asleep.
At least, Fujin was easily sleeping in his old room. The travelling it took to get here had taken its toll on him. You looked over your shoulder at him. His chest rose and fell as he breathed deeply, eyes shut as a gentle snore came from him. His hair, a snowy white, was sprawled elegantly around his head, but frazzled. He had been too exhausted to care for it tonight.
You envied how he could sleep so soundly with such conflict around him. It’s almost as if the tension in this sacred place had gone over his head. The place itself could be a beautiful, quiet place. But the beauty did not diminish the knowledge that you were not welcomed.
You feel your face twist in discomfort, a twinge of pain hitting your chest. It’s not his fault. The wind god had good intentions, bringing you to meet his most cherished family. He was an optimist at heart; a charming trait of his.
Gently, you run your fingers over his cheekbone, with love. Fujin gives a contented sigh, even in sleep. A smile graces your lips.
It’s best to let him sleep. So you do just that. You slowly slide out of the bedroll, tucking your partner into the bed more out of courtesy. You’re careful to not make any noise as you approach the door, putting your slippers on and leaving. Fujin doesn’t stir.
The Sky Temple truly is beautiful, however you had not been able to explore much of it. While not abrupt, your arrival was… something. The first emotion that comes to mind is discomfort, and insecurity too. Those hard blue eyes of his brothers’ staring at you, like he could see your soul. And the scowl on the thunder god’s face as you sheepishly stood there.
“This is my partner, brother! I’ve told you about them before.” Fujin’s light tone is prominent in your memory.
“It is nice to meet you.” His voice is curt and nothing short of intimidating.
It feels so…. Critical, how he says it. Fujin sees the look on your face; later in his room, he comforts you.
“Forgive his tenseness, my love. He has the whole realm to stress over. He likes you plenty.”
You stop in your tracks.
Have I been here…?
No. You haven’t. None of these walls look familiar. Nor do the murals and artifacts decorating the room you’ve found yourself in. Perhaps you have been here for a brief moment, but too tense to notice it on the tour the brothers had given you…. It’s quite a lovely set up, actually. And as of now, you have no other place to be.
You walk around, albeit hesitantly. There’s many different murals lining the walls, telling tales of old. You’re stopped at one in particular. A bald man with a red bandana stands victorious, above a defeated opponent. He looks familiar.
Nearby, is a mural of some dragon looking man, claid in layers of armour. And another, a hooded woman and a white haired man at some sort of funeral-
“What are you doing in here?” the familiar, thunderous voice of Raiden calls out to you. Whipping your head around, you see him at the other end of the long room. He is dressed just as he was before, and wide awake as ever. You feel your heart rate jump at his surprise visit.
“Oh um- I didn’t expect to see you still walking around…” you babble for a few seconds. The thunder god merely waits for an answer. A shaky breath leaves you.
“I couldn’t sleep, so I left to walk around a bit… to tire myself out. Now I’m lost.” you shrug, almost without care.
“I will lead you back to your quarters. It is important for mortals to rest.” Raiden offers, to which you shake your head quickly.
“Thank you, but maybe later. I just need to walk around.” you hate how mean you unintentionally made that sound.
“Very well.”
Easily, he walks across the room to push past you. And you can’t stop the words from leaving your mouth in the heat of the moment.
“I don’t dislike you, Raiden.” you blurt out. The god stops in his tracks.
“I just- I think you’re an alright person. Just quiet, maybe.. But I’ve heard great things about you from him. I don’t really know if you like me either, but… you mean a lot to Fujin.”
It’s suddenly more quiet than it had ever been inside the temple. And the silence feels like it’s going to crush you, if the heat from your cheeks doesn’t burn you alive first. Raiden doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t turn around either. The embarrassment is eating you alive now. Why did I say that?!
“Forget it; sorry, I’ll be out of your hair-”
“I do not hate you either.”
You blink.
Raiden turns his head, staring at you with those electric blue eyes. “I do not know you. But my brother has sung praises about you. You mean a lot to him, in ways I could never understand. But I respect you, and what he has done for you.”
He turns his body as he speaks, and you’re not sure what to say.
“Fujin has always had an affinity for mortals. He wants to know them; understand them. My brother desires to experience the life of a mortal. He has been successful for the most part.”
He looks down. “But I worry for him greatly.”
You soften considerably. “I won’t break his heart, if that’s what you’re trying to say.”
He shakes his head. “No. He has already experienced heartbreak as long as we have existed. I worry he will become too caught up with his whims.”
Empathy hits you like a truck. You move without thought to the thunder god’s side. “Do you want to know something Fujin told me, when we first met?”
He looks up at you, and you place your hand on his arm, comfortingly. “He told me you’ve only ever fought once. That’s impressive, especially for siblings. But, he also told me, even after his time away, he still cares for you and loves you deeply.
“What I’m saying is: Fujin won’t abandon you. He couldn’t bear to lose you. I may not live forever… but I feel a little bit better knowing that when that time comes, he still has you. Even if we never became close.”
The buzz of electricity runs through your hand like a current. You look up tentatively, to see Raiden’s eyes staring back down at you in disbelief. Tension crumbles away as you look at each other.
“I apologize.”
“Don’t worry about it. The past is the past.” You grin empathetically.
“Am I intruding on something?” The raspy voice of Fujin makes you both turn around, seeing him looking less than put together in his night robes. You both look like a deer in headlights.
“Not at all, brother. Have you rested?” Raiden is the first to speak up.
“I could use more sleep, however my heat source has left my side.” The wind god smiles, and you can’t help but smile back at him, walking to hold his sleepy, much taller form in your arms.
“Then I will allow you both to sleep. Goodnight.” Raiden is curt, nodding his head as he passes you both, going in the direction he came from earlier. Fujin’s attention immediately turns to you.
“You heard everything, didn’t you?” You question, cupping his cheek gently.
“I haven't a clue about what you speak of, my love.” His white eyes are filled with humour as he leans his head into your hand.
A chuckle escapes you, as you both lean in to press your noses gently against the other’s.
“I enjoy you being a part of my family.” He whispers gently against your lips.
You smile, and you’re sure he can feel it. “Me too.”
