[Upon hearing the other’s explanation, Timo found he was getting more confused. Letting out a soft sigh, he let his eyes skim over the passage Lukas was pointing at]

"An official monarchy, meaning that… it was then democratic?" [furrows his brows] "Or am I missing something in there? Was it first socialist and then democratic— or did those terms even exist back then?" [okay Timo’s only confusing himself more]

{ Lukas chewed on his bottom lip absentmindedly, sifting through his mind as to find means to explain the topic at hand better. he glanced back at Timo--looking confused as ever--and began speaking once more. }

"What I mean by a republic is that after the monarchy system was officially dissolved, France ruled itself kind of by 'the consent of the governed', if that makes sense. In other words, it was very similar to what we'd call a modern democracy."

[He blinks in surprise when he sees his roommate is already settled in their room] Oh! You must be Lukas! [He smiles nervously, pointing at the room] I am sorry, I was just about to clean this up!

{ Lukas’ only response is a noncommittal shrug. the mess had hardly bothered him—which was strange, as someone would expect a ballet dancer to be so excruciatingly neat and tidy and whatnot. he gives a feeble attempt to return the smile. }

"It’s no problem."

[Timo barely notices the other’s grin, too lost in his own thoughts. it was hell to learn that piece on the violin; he couldn’t even imagine how difficult the choreography must’ve been. Lukas’ words further confirmed his suspicions— it wasn’t the easiest piece ever]

"A good challenge is always welcome, as some say. Is there any other piece you enjoy? I, for one, absolutely adore playing Winter from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. It’s fairly easy, but very beautiful.”

{ Lukas quirked an eyebrow at the mention of another one of his favorite pieces. no wonder he was a music discipline--the guy had good taste, he had to give him that. however, Lukas could honestly only credit his knowledge of classical music towards his need to dance to them. normally, Lukas would really only listen to what was on the radio. boring. }

"To be quite honest with myself, I honestly really just listen to so much classical because it's all I dance to." { he emits a chuckle, surprisingly } "Though I do enjoy lots of other stuff--only listening to one genre would be boring, I think."

'Oh. Well, basically an idol is like a young star who's basic goal is to be cute. They don't have to be singers, they can be voice actors, normal actors, or even models. They're basically meant to be a young star to be fallen in love with, looked up to or have a crazy fan base. It's not easy though, it takes a few years of training to get to the level of an idol. The training usually involves dance lessons, vocal training, physical training, photoshoots and sometimes interviews, if you're lucky. Some even do gymnastics and ballet to further improve their dancing.'

"Got it. That sounds really difficult and time-consuming, though. I applaud you for having to put in so much work, really--that's amazing."

[Valentina gave a salute and sauntered back to her station, she took his coffee mug rinse out the “filth” that was there before. She placed it back down and filled it with the freshly brewed coffee.] "Well, I hope it is to your liking. Would you like any cookies?"

{ Lukas clutched onto his newly-filled mug for dear life, inhaling the sweet, fresh aroma. he grinned as to display his undying gratitude, and nodded when presented with the next question. }

"Sure, that'd be nice."

♥ - talk about your character’s family (siblings, cousins, parents, foster parents, etc.)

Lukas is an only child, a fact of which he often takes for granted. During his childhood, he often found himself dreaming of having at least one sibling to occupy his time with—thus, he often forgot about all the precious time his parents took on him.

✏ - write a drabble or just give some headcanons about a major event in your character’s life

The Norwegian grinned triumphantly as the large, statuesque gold-painted plastic trophy was handed over to him. It was a small victory, yes, but nonetheless, it was his first. This had proven that he absolutely had what it took to compete in the big leagues—and yes, these were the ambitious thoughts swirling in the boy’s head, although it was just a small, citywide exhibition.

His co-competitors slapped him playfully on the back, offering words of congratulations and encouragement. If this is what victory felt like, what it was like to have it clutched tightly in his grasp—he couldn’t wait for another taste.

'Eh? What do you mean? Like, what is an idol and things like that?'

"Basically, yeah. I'm just curious, is all."

'That's pretty cool, we call Santa just Santa-san. When I was in training my company always put on a Christmas concert with all the trainees and idols under their label, it was so much fun! And the annual photobooks would come out a month before Christmas. Christmas is still fairly new in Japan, and it's not a national holiday, so I usually go to school on Christmas Day.'

"That's interesting--kids in Norway usually have a decent amount of time off for Christmas break. Anyways, about your idol days--the simple prospect of it really piques my interest. I know of the whole idol craze in Japan, obviously, but admittedly aren't too knowledgable on the topic. Could you shed some light on it, being a former idol-in-training yourself?"

"Wow… That’s an amazing dream to have! I hope you get there some day! I hope everyone gets to live their dream.

I know! What do you do for Christmas, Lukas-san? In Japan we eat Christmas cake, like a sponge cake with strawberries and cream, and hang mistletoe on the ceiling and an amulet on the door for good luck! My family also has a thing sort of like an advent calender, but instead of getting chocolate we put a wish in for the new year, and on New Years Eve we read out the wishes, put them in lanterns and float them to the sky.’

"Many of Norway's holiday traditions are strikingly similar to those exercised in America--children still get presents from who we call Julenissen--practically just Santa Claus. People still like to go caroling, and Norwegian families often keep a candle lit during the period from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day... oh, and the coolest thing Norway does is we send a purely massive tree to the UK every year. It's simply out of thanks for the aid they offered during World War II."

"That's hard to say... ultimately, I guess, I'd like to be a relatively well-known dancer. Travelling the world, performing for a full house each night--that would be nice."

☁ - what is your character’s favorite or least favorite type of weather

Lukas is particularly unbiased towards the weather, having been dwelling in typically cold locales for a majority of his life. However, he does despise sweltering heat—he’ll take it to such extremes as having an air conditioner and several fans running at once. It’s like he feels he’ll melt or something.

"Just not having that good of a day, I guess. Happens to the best of us. No need to concern yourself about it."

{ he shrugs lightly, as to give the impression that it's not a big deal. but it is. he just wants to downplay his own anger, because he knows such a cheerful person like Mizuki wouldn't like it. }

"Just pissed off a bit, I guess."

'Oh wow, everywhere is so far away from Japan! When I'm older I want to go to all the countries of everyone I know, Italy, Germany, Norway, Finland… They all seem so amazing!'

That’s one of my dreams. My other was to become a J-Pop idol, but we know what happened with that.’

{ he nods gently in agreement. he can definitely attest to that statement, there's still so much of the world he hasn't seen--with the exception of the United States and a majority of Scandinavia, that is. }

"That they do. It would be fun to travel the world, perhaps." { returns her smile, although weakly } "Hey, at least you can say you tried."

{ he utters an incoherent oof noise, and turns to see just who the hell it is that jumped on him. however, he sighs gently in relief as he sees the familiar face. he knows she definitely wouldn't do it with malicious intent, that's for sure. }

"Hey, Mizuki."
