So we got some deleted scenes and goldgraves is canon. No dinner, no mental breakdowns in offices and no credence boarding a boat though.

It’s really not canon at all. Grindelwald loves to create tension so if anything is canon it’s that Tina had a thing for Graves. To me, the most obvious answer is that she pined from afar and Grindelwald, being Grindelwald, picked up on it. We don’t see him try to recruit her to anything so I doubt he did it for any reason other than his own amusement.
