The 30K Whirlwind designer was very nice. If you do don't glue anything to the top of the rhino (so, don't glue the hatch or turret adaptor) it is modular.

Grime applied, left removed with some solvent added to the wipe, right was dry. Liking the grimier look on the right.

Left is unwashed, center is black/brown oil that was pared back with wipes, right is enamel pared back with wipes.

Initially like the oil more but the enamel is growing on me. Would ditch the extra rust highlights and definitely pre-shade the rivets with acrylic wash in either case.

Making progress on some terrain. I need a finer tip white marker for the CRT screen but splashing the data glow army painter effect paint over white on black seems like an extremely simple way of doing monitors. Some data glow was washed into the recesses around the screen for that old, curved CRT, 90s look.

We're having our turn in the heat wave and reports from the National Mall are brutal already this week. That screenshot is today's forecast (courtesy of the Capital Weather Gang) and tomorrow and Saturday are confidently going to be worse than this is.

The national Mall has no shade on the grass and you will be exposed to the sun constantly while also experiencing extremely high humidity. You will not be allowed a bag over a certain size to enter the mall and it has to be clear. You cannot have an insulated water bottle, it has to be clear. Reports are that there are two entrances to the area so you'll have to wait in line to even get in. I cannot find a number on how many cooling stations there are, except that it's "few" to "none" depending on what accounts I read online. Vendors are allegedly charging more than the posted prices and seem to be unprepared for actual crowds - these are the official vendors not the scam food trucks that park all around the edges of the mall. And that's the extent of the planning done because it was not a priority to make sure attendees don't pass out.

My local friends and I have reached a consensus that tourists are going to get extremely sick and none of us know what the EMT response or planning is on the mall this year. People are going to die.

Please stay out of this. It's not worth your health. Get your relatives and family to stop. I can give you recs for so many DC museums and things to do if you want to make the most of your trip. Any other local can too.

I have played two games of Warhammer 40k 11th edition and I do not need to play another. Supremely glad I made templates that also work in AoS and 30k, in addition to not buying the starter or cards.

It really feels like there is no way to casually play the game now that I need to know my rules, my opponents rules, my mission, my opponents most times entirely different mission, my detachments, my opponents detachments, and the secondaries. I have had 3 hour games that get to turn 2 because there are a million fiddly guns with full rerolls. I have had games of 30k get to round 4 in two hours, with decent sections of both armies still on the table, because both players knew their rules and could resolve dice rolls quickly.

I really don't like the direction 40k has been going the last two editions.

For warhammer folks (40k, 30k, AoS, Old World, etc) the Fjaderharv box is the size of the standard sprue, if you are looking for containment solutions for old and partially clipped sprues.

Did you know that after they switched to blind auditions, major symphony orchestras hired women between 30% to 55% more? Before bringing in “blind auditions” with a screen to conceal the the candidate, women in the top 5 major orchestras made up less than 5% of the musicians performing.

The testers didn’t even know that’s what they were picking up on, which just goes to show how tiny of a cue it takes for misogyny to kick in.

The benefits of cover in new 40k will be -1BS and the newest Inquisitor is a 2+ reroll hits against a unit you shot for any imperium battleline unit?

That has enough caveats that it won't be atrocious (and it probably could stand to be more restrictive given the announced ways of getting battleline onto things with detachments) but the suggestion that full hit rerolls still exist? So what was the point in adding -1BS to cover then?
