Sheogorath and Jyggalag
after a whole year of avoiding this task, i have finally drawn jyggalag, the only daedric prince my redesign project was missing! the gang's all here!! i also updated vaermina's and sheogorath's colors a little.
Based on this
i get on bluesky for the first time in a white and i am immediately taking Ls
Kinda hate that they took an opportunity to flesh out Azura as a goddess of change/potential and just shoehorned an entirely new prince in. Like we didnāt need a new prince to contrast Mora with beauty, willfulness and power over fate because we already have one. And it wouldāve been so easy to just say āHermaeus Mora locked away the part of Azura that could directly alter fate so now she mostly acts through mortals using her remaining power to perceive fate instead of changing it.ā
Even the aesthetics of Ithelia are perfect for Azura. Namely the mirror motif. It encapsulates Azuraās ties to vanity and prophecy as well as her split depictions. We even see the inside of Azuraās Star in Skyrim looking exactly like Itheliaās wings and hear of Azurah binding Meridia in the void with mirrors. Imagine a world where the mirror motif was paired with roses and watercolors to form a ācompleteā form of Azura. A mirrored deity forming a triple goddess with her reflections. This being linked to how Azura seems to change her form to suit her worshippers who perceive her: Some message of pride and free will linking to creating oneās ideal world. It couldāve been great.
Sort of an addendum to my gripes about Ithelia stealing Azuraās potential: Itās also crazy that they straight up took Meridiaās backstory and were like āSheās just like that but way better and cooler and more powerfulā.
Like what do you mean sheās also a lost Magna Ge who was worshipped heavily by the Ayleids but sheās the āPrimeā one who represents multicolored white light instead of the singular red light of Meridia whoās just one of 8 lesser Magna Ge/Coruscations.
And then we get some nonsense about how she alone just happened to be like āOh, within the interplay of Anu and Sithis anything is possible and also only I really understood Lorkhan and also I created the concept of the prisonerā.
Maybe we shouldāve given that little nugget of lore to Azura whose sphere is literally the time of day when light and dark interplay and whose prophetic abilities created the āprisonerā of Morrowind aka the Neravine? Azurah whoās already stated as being so close to Lorkhaj that she held him as he died?
Regarding Meridia getting ripped off though, I do have one hope that Ithelia is just gonna straight up be part of a Merid-Nunda who stole something from Azurah(power over the Varliance Gate which contains many potential futures) before being split into the Nine Coruscations/Nine named Magna-Ge.
Lore:The Bladesongs of Boethra - The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (UESP)
The first two parts describe a battle between Boethra/Mafala/Azurah vs Molagh/Dagon/Merid-Nunda. In it the Lunar Lattice is attacked by the latter three, seemingly in an attempt to steal control of a āVarlianceā aka Starlight gate that contains many possibilities for the future. This gate has previously been said to be under Azurahās control. The fight starts with Meridia being described as a Rainbow Angel who shines with the all the colors of the sun and ends with Merid-Nunda being split into her many colors.
Kinda just me coping but it wouldnāt be the first time ancient khajiit lore has saved Elder Scrolls canon for me.
Namira
here's my take on clavicus vile! kept his design mostly inspired by the ESO appearance
-> the coins attached to his robe are the same coins that mortals toss into wishing wells - he just extracts them afterwards and keeps em on his person -> when he traverses the night sky his sash falls behind him, and all the coins twinkle, which creates the illusion of a shooting star (that people wish upon! :D azura doesn't like it)
his daggerfall design sort of inspired me to make a timeline of his appearance changing, i think it would be cool for clavicus to be a daedra that visually "grows up"
barbas our friend barbas ^_^
and of course closeups under read more!
so my concept fr the next generation arc for the elder scrolls is that we transition from 4E into a fucked up wild Neo-Merethic Era brought on by the sudden, upheaving revival of the Ehlnofey's presence on Mundus. Because I think we need to work with the Aedra more and explore the implications of them being capable of good AND evil (lore seems to take for granted that Aedra will always do the right thing but they don't Have To and that's ripe with possibilities to me)
Blackmarsh begins a golden age of culture, architecture and technology within the first century but tensions are high with the Empire bc the Empire has been sending relentless onslaughts of assassins to destabilize things. For obvious reasons (imperialism)
Mara personally manifests at her Benevolence and sends you on mundane errands. She's like "Ah, hello child. How lovely to see you here and in good health. Speaking of, Granny Witherbones feels a tad chilly today. You will find her abode near the gate, level above the general goods store. If you would, here is 5 gold coins to purchase a Hearty Chicken Soup from the tavern of which she can sup upon and enjoy the company of a kind young soul such as yours." and then she dissipates into fractal sunbeams leaving 5 septims in a dish

Would it be alright to take this idea to work into an au fanfic OP?
Yeah feel free š
Something central to Peryite is honesty. This goes all the way back to Daggerfall when Peryite shows respect for the player being able to say no to his request and being called the most affable with the worst reputation. And it comes down to the fact that no one really wants to hear the truth.
No one likes pus or vomit even though they are natural and visible signs of successfully combatting infection and harmful substance. No one glamorizes garbage collection or decomposition even though both are vital on societal and environmental levels. No one likes how long it takes an injury to heal even though the body needs that time to heal properly. No one likes getting a shot even though that exposure to a virus is what gives the immune system the ability to fight it in the future.
Cleansing, purification, and healing are all romanticized as concepts, but when it comes to the grit and gore involved, people get squeamish and impatient. But that incremental and uncomfortable side of the natural order is what makes Peryite so potent and undeniable despite how weak he might seem on the surface. Heās a dragon; the part of Akatosh, of time, that heals all wounds and ailments.
Peryite understands that exposure to and acceptance of these discomforts is what allows one to become stronger and flourish over time. Itās why his followers are gifted with illness to strengthen their bodies and why heāll pollute water to allow a biome to form a response to an even worse contamination in the future.
It all comes down to honesty. Not denying actual betterment just because itās unpleasant.
Idk if thereās much crossover between the two fandoms, but I think thereās plenty of crossover between the general concepts embodied by the Daedric princes and the paths embodied by the Aeons of Honkai Star Rail.
For example, Namira gives me the same vibe as IX who rules over the path of Nihility which is basically Nihilism on a universal scale. Itās that same way she drags people down into a state of nothingness where nothing in Nirn matters in the face of decay and rot. Where every failure is magnified as evidence that there was never a point in trying in the first place. IX and their path act much the same way in HSR and one of their primary āfactionsā called Self-Annihilators reminds a me a lot of the Dro-māathra.
Another example is an Aeon named Yaoshi who rules the path of Abundance. In that path youāll see all the āhealerā type characters but the path itself also leads to immortality which twists the recipient over time. Yaoshi goes from world to world delivering boundless life and healing but this leads to population and resource crises even if Yaoshiās intent was seemingly benevolent. To me this feels like Meridia who gifts immortality which wipes away individuality in the process and also champions life energy and light which are benevolent concepts at first glance.
Idk I think itās a fun mental exercise to connect the Daedra to entities from other games plus I didnāt really think about Meridia in that light of abundance until I compared her to Yaoshi.
apparently, reddit nuked the "meridia is a black hole" post. here's how I understand/remember this theory
meridia was once merid-nunda, a star orphan. black holes form when massive stars collapse at the end of their life cycle
massive objects (like black holes) create strong gravitational fields that curve and stretch the "fabric" of space-time. "⦠thus does Merid-Nunda [ride? slide?] across the rainbow road from end to end, at one end stretching the Dragon [Akatosh, the Time God], at the other end compressing him ā¦. - Exegesis of Merid-Nunda
black holes can "bend" the light rays that pass close enough to them. this is how meridia created her colored rooms. "But Merid-Nunda formed of her substance a great drag-lens, and the light of Magnus was bent thereby. The rays [carved? focused?] a new sphere from the chaos, which Merid-Nunda, [laughing? sparkling?], did claim for her own." - Exegesis of Merid-Nunda
"For Meridia, time is said to be relative, and her priestesses have been known to grant time-altering blessing" - UESP just google "black holes time travel"
"the Daedra Lady of Greed" - UESP yeah, it's about her strong gravitational field
"To MERIDIA who contains the Plenum" - PGE. Plenum (physics), a space completely filled with matter. black holes are incredibly dense
meridia's light is not her own! if material such as gas, dust or stars gets too close to a black hole, it gets sucked in by the enormous gravitational force. as it falls towards the black hole, it heats up and becomes incredibly bright
meridia, you're not fooling anyone with your beams of light. we know it's your relativistic jets. stop LARPing as a sun/light goddess
