Anyone who knows me knows I love a few things in life. My city, my cat, my office and its window and my husband. In no particular order.

I made him this little platform, to chill and look out onto the courtyard of our Manhattan apartment. Every night, he sits and looks out of the window, examining the world, in a way that I imagine feels gratitude for not having to live on the streets any more. Then satisfied that the neighborhood folk are doing what they should, he turns and watches me, his gaze not exactly flat, not entirely inscrutable but also not exactly known. Until his eyes heavy and languid, close and then the sweetness of his purring begins.
