I had not considered Sam/Damien TBS before but now I am So here for it and I cant stop thinking about how polyamory probably would not have fixed whatever Sam Mark and Damien had going on but goddamn they could try

samdark (what i have been calling this ship for a couple years now) would probably be pretty bad for all parties involved. and yet.... i think its beautiful. i think something could happen. i think they could all change each other. dont ask me if its for the better.

ohhhhhh it doesn't exist yet! or rather, it exists on my computer (and has for, uh...9 years?) but I never finished it.

HOWEVER! I have started doing a new thing on the @atypicalartists patreon where I share bits of dubiously canonical writing every month and this story will eventually be one of them! I'm determined to finish it almost a decade later! never give up!

I will say, it will almost certainly be for paid patrons only whenever I do share it, seeing as it isn't canon! and I still have no clue how weird its gonna get lol

god I really owe Charlie Frail my life for suggesting that Damien get involved in the Mark rescue plan because I can't imagine The Bright Sessions without the Damien-Mark plotline. I don't even particularly identify as a Mark/Damien shipper but where would we be without "Forgive me for actually trying to like you. I know nobody’s ever made the attempt before" and "I don't feel right. Please don't leave" and "all I’ve found out about you is that your real name is Robert Gorham and you are desperately lonely" and "You wanna know the last time I was happy to see someone? I think I was nineteen."

I listened to the Bright Sessions epilog that just came out and:

The whole time I kept waiting for a Damien mention, a final reflection on his impact or his actions....and there was nothing.

Because that was the point, in a way. Life goes on. There's good, there's bad. The things that hurt us and change us eventually become part of us, of our past. Even the worst of it all becomes vague memories as we heal and grow and change.

Damien isn't a thought in Joan or Sam's mind. Mark has healed and found someone new, whatever he and Oliver are. Caleb and Adam are in New York, starting their lives together surrounded by friends. And Damien doesn't take up space in their minds anymore.

The epilog was beautiful. It reminded me so much of the people I knew 10 years ago, of the person I was. I see how much I've left behind too.

But I still hold space for that broken man who did terrible, unforgivable things because he didn't know what else to do. I can only hope he found peace, and hope, and forgiveness, and maybe even joy too.

took me a few minutes to realize why dr. bright talking to owen felt like such a full circle moment but then it clicked. The Reports Were For Him. i always understood them as a personal log but no! the AM was monitoring her and the patients so the reports were always for owen
