always thought it was strange that ppl go to amsterdam to do drugs specifically. do you know what i absolutely dont wanna hear while tripping? Dutch
being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
ppl try to psychoanalyze men and so often the answer is they just want to. like. they feel entitled to do whatever they want so they just do that. they didn't think about it all that hard.
also, I think this is a trap a lot of young women fall into. and I guess old women. of simply not being able to believe that his callousness is actually, yes, that superficial. so much hurt he causes you is barely registering to him. he didn't think about you at all. he cheated because he wanted to have sex. he lied because he wanted to get his way. he agrees with your assessment of how his childhood trauma impacts his behaviors because it gets him out of the convo faster. he is just literally sitting there with circus theme music in his head thinking how do I stop what's stopping me from doing what I want right now so I can go back to doing what I want right now and you crying is like...an inconvenience. no worse. it's a obstacle to overcome. so he can go back to video games or whatever.
The fact that we're living in a time of growing infantilization of people (but especially women) in their 20s, where you hear things like "you're not REALLY an adult until you're 25- and maybe not even then," at the SAME TIME social media is pushing the message that people (but especially women) are "old" and obsolete already if they're older than 30? Like you only have 5 YEARS to be a Person?? I don't know, it makes me feel some kind of way. (It's Bad. It makes me feel Bad. You are being cheated out of your adulthood. You matter MORE than this!)
i love the word "ostensibly", you can write some mean ass sentences with it

i actually don't mind if 4 hour video essays are kind of nothingburger content wise, i don't click on a 4 hour video essay if i want something concise and effective. but when a 15 min video essay is excessively redundant and hollow that is when i start growling and clutching my cursed throbbing red eye
i really dont want to come off as an asshole and act like im not sympathetic but i think the idea that it is an appropriate thing to do to respond to posts about about positive experiences made by strangers with long and graphic vents about how your own life is nothing like that really has to end. iâm very sorry youâre going through that. but itâs just. really not appropriate.

[ID: the top of a news article. The subject is âclimate change.â The headline says, âIndians may already be experiencing temperatures close to limits of human survivability without even being aware.â The body text says, âThe basic criteria for IMD to declare a heatwave currently does not include take into account relative humidity, which is increasingly becoming a cause of humid heatwaves.â End ID.]
Indian authorities in the capital have ordered schools shut early for the summer holiday, after temperatures hit 47.4 degrees Celsius (117 d
India is now shutting down schools as temperatures soar beyond what kids can survive - temperatures have already hit 47.4° C (117° F) in Delhi
In China 2 months ago it hit 100 percent relative humidity, here is a video showing what that looks like.
Some problems it can cause - poor visibility, disease spreads easier, difficult to breathe, electrical issues, and...everything in your house is wet
[âUltimately, anti-fatness isnât based in science or health, concern or choice. Anti-fatness is a way for thinner people to remind themselves of their perceived virtue. Seeing a fatter person allows them to remind themselves that at least Iâm not that fat. They believe that they have chosen their body, so seeing a fat person eat something they deem unhealthy reminds them of their stronger willpower, greater tenacity, and superior character. We donât just look different, the thinking goes; we are different. Thinner people outwit their bodies. Fatter people succumb to them. Encounters with fatter people offer a welcome opportunity to retell that narrative and remind themselves of their superiority.
Over time, I have come to learn that these momentsâthe threats, the concern, the constant well-intentioned bullyingârun even deeper than a simple assumption of superiority. It is a reminder so many thin people seem to desperately need. They donât seem to be talking to me at all. They seem to be talking to themselves.
Thin people donât need me to know about a diet or a surgeon. They donât need me to hear them expound on the evils of the obesity epidemic or the war on obesity. They need to remind themselves to stay vigilant and virtuous. The ways that thin people talk to fat people are, in a heartless kind of way, self-soothing. They are warnings to themselves from themselves. I am the future they are terrified of becoming, so they speak to me as the ghost of fatness future. They remove food from my cart as if it is their own. They offer diet advice forcefully, insisting that I take it. If I say that I have, they insist I must have done it wrong, must not have been vigilant enough, must not have had enough willpower. They beat me up the way most of us only talk to ourselves. As if in a trance, they plead with me, some terrifying future self.
Sometimes, the trance breaks. Maybe it breaks because they realize, with great discomfort, that they have made extraordinary judgments, issued intrusive mandates like some petulant prince. Maybe it breaks because a fat person asks them to stop. But whatever breaks the trance, the thinner person seems to return to themself, recognizing that they may have overstepped. And without fail, they will offer the same rote caveat, a hasty waiver, unsigned, disclaiming any injury caused: Iâm just concerned for your health. And just like that, all that judgment, all those assumptions, all that cruelty suddenly becomes a humanitarian mission.â]
aubrey gordon, what we donât talk about when we talk about fat
btw the man vs bear in woods thing on tiktok has evolved into woman vs lion in woods and it's really fucking funny because all the scenarios are something like 'a lion wouldn't use me for my money'. is the money in the room with us right now?
say what you will about booktok but they are at the very minimum reading books. fanfic level romance schlock, but still. on watertok their asses are NOT drinking water
i couldn't even appreciate the artistry behind the clothing designs this year at the met gala because my bitterness and anger toward the exorbitantly wealthy has grown too much to be contained i try to say ooo pretty gown but all the black hateful bile starts oozing out from under the lid of its container. 7 months of genocide and the largest homeless camps my city has ever seen and food banks in the universities and baby formula locked behind glass and stomach gnawing guilt over a $7 latte and rent is always late and always behind on electricity bills uh ohhhh summer is here time for another wild fire. oooo pretty gown. the next met gala theme will be bear spray and what happens is i bear spray inside the gallery. i can't even force a sort of healthy detachment anymore like "haha oh well i guess that movie actor is rich it's not like they're an ultra wealthy bazillionaire oooo pretty gown" they're all worms to me vile beasts i look at them in their isolated imagine john lennon covid song bubble and i feeeeeel the milk of human kindness curdling within me. how can you smile at the camera. we are all dying girl. isn't there a protest not even a block away from you guys? protesters and riot cops and homeless ppl in the streets. i guess that's unfair you guys deserve a night of glitz and glamour and getting away from it all as if you're not constantly away from it all. girl we are dying. sick sick world. sick dying world. anyway i didn't watch the met gala this year
if you start reading books again. you will feel at least a little better. I promise
