Honestly this scene hits so hard because it is a known thing that Strelitzia has struggled with since union x
Shes scared of fighting heartless. She lets herself get chased around by them. She says as much herself!
And its not that shes weak or anything. Lauriam tells her that her magical prowess is much greater than his own. If she just focused and stayed calm she'd be fine! But its hard. Its hard because shes scared and most people would be if they fought some horrifying monsters that could kill you!
But its not just that already existing fear. Her getting jumped at by heartless would probably trigger the memories of her death aswell considering darkness quite literally jumped her. That was how she got killed!
And because her fear and possible flashbacks arent enough she seems to struggle with summoning the one thing she can use to defend herself
Shes terrified, Possibly gets reminded of the utterly horrible thing that happened to her and shes completely defenseless to do anything against it because she cannot summon her weapon
Shes doing horrible!
Its no wonder she looks so terrified!
And honestly I think its so cool to see a keyblade wielder whos just….scared. Who fears the things they fight and who lets that fear consume them because news flash: overcoming your fear can be hard as hell

Hi Tumblr sorry I've not been tumblring recently did you know there's a new kingdom hearts trailer okay thank you for your time
I've just come up with the best premise I've ever thought of and it was in a dream and I'm so mad I can't think of anything this good when I'm awake. (I lucid dream, just to explain how I can live-review my own dreams.)
We begin in Victorian London, like Sherlock Holmes Victorian London. Some kind of policeman is on the trail of Jack the Ripper. He strikes a deal with some kind of supernatural entity, I'm assuming it's a fairy because it definitely has a strong profit motive.
The fairy will give the policeman pieces of information, but it will cost the policeman two and a half pounds each time. In today's money, that's... somewhere around £300, I think? Maybe a bit less? I don't know what the pay rate for a Victorian detective is, but that definitely sounds like enough to ruin a man.
At this point, I'm excited. This is going to be a tense game of cat-and-mouse through the dark and dangerous slums, chasing a violent criminal, walking a line between the ordinary & supernatural worlds and fame & destitution.
It isn't. Cut to the modern day. The Victorian detective's descendant is also a police detective, and in the same deal with the same fairy. (Exactly how this happened is unclear; I think I could make it work.) But, and here's a sentence I never thought I'd need, Faustian bargains with supernatural informants don't adjust for inflation. So this modern detective is getting incredible information that no human could possibly have, solving cases that have been cold for years in weeks, and for less than the cost of the lunch he buys at his regular meetings with the fairy.
The fairy is feeling pretty shafted by this, and is spending a lot of time and money talking to the fairy equivalent of contract lawyers trying to get out of the agreement, or at least get more money, but blood magic is very hard work to change.
Incredible idea. Best narrative I've ever come up with. Why can't I be that clever when I'm awake and trying to think of good ideas?
