Many of us here at Blink;Tech are actively involved with the Joseph Campbell Foundation. If you live any where near Sarasota, Florida and are interested in Joseph Campbell, we encourage you to attend this free event on October 16:
On October 16th we will be watching part two of The Power of Myth, Episode 3, We will also be continuing our discussion on the importance of accepting death as rebirth, rites of passage in primitive societies, the role of mystical Shamans and the decline of ritual in today’s society. For those less familiar with Joseph Campbell, this will be a great opportunity to gain more insight into his body of work and appreciate first hand why his ideas have been so influential to artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, and modern culture in general.

To any of my writer / screenwriter friends in Sarasota, these are held every month, are free, and a fantastic place to learn more about Joseph Campbell, The Hero's Journey, and understanding the core of storytelling. I highly recommend attending!
Did you know: • Older Americans are least likely to use libraries • Just 4% of Americans are “e-book only” readers • Those who use libraries are more likely than others to be book buyers 7 surprises...
This is why Neil DeGrasse Tyson is one of the greatest human beings of all time...
My novel is about the difficulties women face in science, and how prejudices lead to self destructive defense mechanisms, so this means a lot to me.
They say beauty comes from within, and music does so quite literally - most sounds of music are created inside the instruments. Maybe that is the reason why Mona Sibai and Björn Ewers came up with an idea to photograph musical instruments from inside to promote Berlin Philharmonic orchestra. ...

This is so Sarasota, Florida: condo owners vs Ringling students.
Waterbears can go without food or water for more than a decade. They can survive temperatures from zero to above the boiling point of water, pressure six times stronger than the deepest ocean trench, radiation hundreds of times higher than the fatal dose for a human, and the vacuum of space.
I could watch this all day....
Join authors Chris Kuhn, Anthony Paull, and myself for a special event hosted by the Selby Public Library called Writing the New Woman, part of the library’s ongoing Literary Sessions series. The interactive panel will feature a moderator-led discussion about the various depictions of the modern woman in today’s fiction and include an open Q&A with audience members,
We will be discussing the female protagonists in our novels and I am very excited to talk about Amanda Fowler, the lead character from my novel, Love's Naked Nature. Amanda is an entomologist and TV nature show host who struggles against the chauvinism of the novel's 1970s setting to keep both her dignity and passion in her pursuit of both science and love. A modern day Shakespearean pastoral comedy, Love's Naked Nature explores the judgments, expectations, and defense mechanisms that complicate love and friendship.
The event is free and open to the public. It takes place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15 in the Jack G. Geldbart Auditorium in the Selby Public Library in Sarasota, Florida. After the panel and Q&A, the authors will be on hand for a book signing. Copies of their books will be on sale, but quantities may be limited. There are links below to order books beforehand.
