Welcome~

The name I go by is Grey and this is my formal introduction. Before I discuss specific details I will explain what otherkin, empath, and therian is.

Otherkin- Someone who identifies as nonhuman and believes their soul is inhuman. Ex: Fairy, Mermaid, Griffin, Etc.

Therian- Someone who identifies as an animal and believes their soul is of an animal. Ex: Dogs, Cats, Reptiles, Etc.

Empath- A person who has the ability to sense things about others, animals, and the world around them. They can feel another persons emotions, the emotional energy of a place, residual emotions off objects, or even the emotions of animals.

Important Additional Info:

Some otherkins and therians believe either in a past life or current life or both that they are non-human. They each experience Mental shifts, Phantom shifts, among other things. It all depends on the person.

Some important terms to remember are Polykin/Polytherian, Otherkin, Therian, Other Hearted, Fictionkin, Otherlink, Coping Link, and Alterhuman. We will discuss the rest of these definitions at a later date/post.

Empaths come in different varieties. This means there are different gifts one can possess. Empaths connect to the world around them on a higher and genuine emotional level. Everyone in the world has the capacity for empathy. After all, it is normal to empathize for others. However, not everyone can feel the specific emotions of other people or things around them.

So Who And What Am I?

I am a polytherian/otherkin in the sense that I am both things. I identify as each group.

I am Demonkin specifically Succubus/Incubus Kin.

I am a Coyote Therian.

I am Vampire kin.

I am Lion Therian.

I am an Empath with Claircognizant abilities. As well as an Emotional and Animal Empath.

I connect with my Kin types on an emotional, physical, and spiritual level. I have a strong sense of intuition too. I go with my gut.

I am in my twenties, I am trans, and on a constant journey of self-improvement.

My spiritual journey has been a long one and I am Pagan due to it. Maybe at some point, I will share a bullet-point list of my beliefs.

The Coyote in me is seeking to be free. The thought of running through the forest as fast as I can and feeling the dirt under my paws closes in on me. The need and yearning to be myself.

Yes, I genuinely believe I am an animal. Yes, I am aware I am in a human body. Is that your business, no. Do you need to be concerned for me, no. I rather you stay away from me if you think your shit is going to help me. Being an animal is the only thing keeping me from fucking losing it. Mind. Your own. Fucking. Business. When it comes to me. I have worse mental problems than genuinely believing I am a bat and that shit I will never talk about to individuals on the internet because I don't trust y'all.

Based On My Own Experience Being Vampire Kin is—

Realizing your canines aren’t as sharp as you would like them to be.

Tasting your own blood out of curiosity example: if you have a paper cut.

Feeling exhausted in the heat.

Rolling your eyes when someone says something snarky about mythology. Example: Joking about buying garlic.

Looking into your own mythology heavily.

Liking dark colors/spaces.

Realizing most pop culture beliefs at times are a little odd.

What is species Dysphoria and how may it impact a therian/otherkin/non-human?

Species dysphoria is the experience of dysphoria and dysmorphia involving the belief of one's body being the wrong species.

Examples of this are:

Feeling out of your body/somethings wrong with your body.

Sometimes Dissociation.

Feeling like your current body doesn't represent or reflect who/what you are.

Phantom shifts or limbs that lead to sadness or frustration because your body isn't accurate to those shifts/limbs.

Confusion and discomfort.

How does this impact a person in their daily life?

For me, it can lead to self-image issues. Feeling like my body isn't my own, discomfort living in my body, etc. Thinking other people should be able to know I’m a wild animal and then realizing my body doesn't reflect it. Not being able to be 100% open with these issues with people in my life. I know that my family wouldn't understand and neither would my friends. I cannot vent about my species dysphoria to the people closest to me which only causes sadness and frustration.

It is having my tail wag or my wings flap and realizing they aren't there. It is wanting to do whatever my instincts are telling me but not being able to. It is zoning out periodically throughout the day when I'm feeling stressed and thinking too much. It's my husband petting my head making me the happiest canine/feline ever. It's thinking like the species you identify with and realizing that humans would not think that way.

Life Of A Lion~

The Lion frequently called King of the jungle. It is the symbol of power, pride, strength, bravery, and more. Living amongst their pride and giving leadership. Lions are ferocious yet humble mammals.

One of my kintypes is a Lion. I deeply resonate with the animal. From mental shifts that come and go to my phantom tail my lion life is extraordinary (at least to me). To connect psychologically, spiritually, and soulfully to this animal is something words cannot fully describe. My personality is a mixed bag of traits that connect with all my kintypes. For my Lion typing it’s being prideful (though not always the best), courage, brave, and I tend to be very straight forward.

I live life on my own terms and protect what/who I value with or consider my pride. I don’t know how to roar but want to. Constantly warm and wanting to lounge around. Sleeps for a long period of time sometimes. Playfulness and pawing. I try to share food after eating some of it. Wanting my “Pride” to experience the food I have and making sure they are fed. The natural instincts of a Lion circulate throughout my soul, my being.

The Lion is also an animal I admire. Not solely because of my connection to them but because of the strength they represent.

Hobbies/Things I Do As A Nonhuman~

Going for walks in nature.

Photography. Taking photos of nature and the animals that live in it.

Reading literature about the animals or non animal species that I connect to.

Watching documentaries on my kin types.

Food shopping for consumables that can be a surrogate for food my kin types would eat. Example: Cereal in place of kibble.

Art! Creating things that help me feel at peace.

Meditation.

NEURODIVERSE AND THERIAN/OTHERKIN STRUGGLES~

Sensory Overload. As someone who has ✨spicy✨ mental health and also apart of the non human communicative this can mean a lot of things. What is sensory overload or how does it work/feel? It’s emotionally a mix of anxiety and fear in my experiences. It can cause fidgeting, frustration, snapping at people, shutting down, etc. It’s kinda like hearing nails on a chalkboard and feeling severely overwhelmed because of how loud it is. I don’t really know how else to describe it other than multiple senses going into overdrive and the smallest of things can make it unbearable.

Combine this overwhelming sensitivity to everything with therian or otherkin problems and it’s a cocktail for disaster. Sense of smell? Too strong to the point I can get grossed out and nauseous. Hearing? Even the smallest of noises I will pick up on and get anxious about. You can imagine how that can impact things when you are mentally shifting or struggling with non human struggles on top of it. Anything can set you off basically.

Someone’s chewing too loudly? Growls at them out of reflex. Walk into a bathroom that smells icky? Might as well suffocate on the spot. Someone’s talking too much and you can’t do any noise at all? Struggles not to fight them or claw at them. It’s having to calm yourself the best you can and remove yourself from situations at times. Sometimes it’s as simple as leaving one room to another.

I feel like this should be talked about at some point. When I say I have sensitive senses it isn’t cause I’m non human or anything but it can heighten the things I go through because I am not human. If you are psychologically struggling and in the Therian/Otherkin community I want you to know you’re not alone.

Coyote/Canine Thingys~

Sees partners arm must bite.

Sees smalls animals outside and wants to chase them.

Protective over territory and people I view closest to me.

Yipping, growling, whimpering, and howling.

Paws at everything.

Sensitivity to smells.

Head pets are appreciated.

Feels tail wag.

Hearing is sensitive.

Growls when mad or upset.

Definition- Demonkin are those who identify as a demon or demon-like being. Demonkin can be of many different kinds of demons, devils, or hybrids.

As someone who identifies this way, I would love to share information. Some mythology and things I personally notice about myself. Maybe shed light into the demonkin world. Firstly, demonkin would be considered a part of Otherkin. (That is going by the definition of Otherkin.)

Due to the amount of mythology out it is safe to assume most countries as well as religions have some form of story to tell. There are a vast amount of different demons out there. Everyone seems to be unanimous on thinking the supernatural is real.

The species I identify with is Succubus/Incubus. They are a type of shapeshifter. They can change their appearance, are very attractive to folks, and have a ton of mythology. Some mythology states they have horns and wings. Other mythology that has been spread over the years is the idea that they enter people’s dreams and feed from them while sleeping. It is stated that they are similar to sirens in the sense of being able to lure humans regardless of the country or religion.

Some of the characteristics I identify with is:

Transforming appearances. I am constantly changing my appearance. From hair to wardrobe and everything in between. I cannot seem to settle on one look.

The “Luring” aspect. Many times I have experienced any gender become obsessed with me without me doing anything. Even strangers end up getting hooked on talking to me when all I want to do is be alone. Many exes and others consistently try to reconnect or stay in my life as well. Strangers will meet me in a line at Wendy’s and tell me their life story and instantly be smitten with me.

Phantom shifts regarding wings on my back. I can even see what they look like in my head. Small black devil like wings.

This is a Theriantype post. It is to provide insight on Coyote behavior and how it applies in my life. This post will also be mentioning mental shifting specifically.

Coyotes are primarily nocturnal.

Coyotes are territorial.

Coyotes are an intelligent animal with a reputation for cunning and swiftness.

Coyotes adjust their hunting style to what foods are available.

Coyotes are known for how well they adapt to different habitats.

Coyotes are omnivores.

Coyotes are extremely adaptable and use a wide range of habitats including forests, grasslands, deserts, and swamps.

Coyotes are very social animals, they do not form packs but rather live in family groups.

Coyotes hunt at night.

I am primarily a night owl. I am more awake at night than I am during the day.

I am very selective of who I allow in my space as well as personal space. I am also protective of my things and spaces.

I am very ambitious at times.

I can easily adjust myself to my environment and surroundings as well to those interacting with me.

While I am a social person I am selective of who is in my circle.

I am typically a solo individual.

I eat a variety of food groups and consider myself an omnivore.

Being Coyote is being as swift as you need to be when situations arise.

Being a Coyote is enjoying others company without any hierarchy.

Being a Coyote is the excitement and desire to hunt prey.

Being a Coyote is growling, yelping, pawing at things, etc.

M̶e̶n̶t̶a̶l̶ ̶S̶h̶i̶f̶t̶s̶

Mental shifts are a form of shifting in which the individual mentally reverts to the animal or being they have a connection with. They temporarily have a change in mindset from the humanside to animalside or nonhuman side. Mental shifts can happen both voluntarily or involuntarily.

For canine shifts such as a Coyote there are shared behaviors during m-shifts. We feel the need to howl, growl, bite, nibble, yelp, among other common canine behavior.

In this post, we will be discussing different definitions of terms used in the alterhuman communities. These will be the general definitions of each word.

OTHER HEARTED- a person who has a strong connection to a species or character which impacts their core sense of self. This is identifying with something rather than as something.

OTHER LINK- a person who has voluntarily chosen a nonhuman identity compared to otherkins and therians who feel as though it is involuntary (though not everyone feels that way).

COPING LINK- a type of other link adopted as a coping mechanism for trauma, stress, mental illness, or any other ailment.

FICTION KIN- a person who identifies their kin type as something that is considered fictional. Ex: Elsa, Spiderman, etc.

ALTERHUMAN- a term for individuals who have identities that are beyond what is traditionally considered being "human". An alterhuman can identify as non-human, or they can identify as being human in ways alternate to what is societally common.
