“     PROPER REST.   yeah, that  —  that sounds good.   just gotta rest my eyes a bit.     ”          what he NEEDED was a miracle.   it’s would come as no surprise that the blood that poured from his wounds would be his inevitable demise.   but he doesn’t waste what little strength he has fighting her.   instead, his weight falls a little too heavy against her frame as she attempts to guide him to safety.

they make it halfway into the living area before he collapses, dragging her down with him.   a groan of pain follows but it does little to mask any approaching noises from the tree line outside the home.   his pursuers come to finish the job.   weak and defeated, jesse moves to grab his revolver and shoves it into her hands.          “     there’s only two.   if y’can make the shot, do it.   they ain’t here t’make friends   —   i shouldn’t’ve come this way.   fuck   —m’sorry.     ”

           *    /        AND   THERE   IT   WAS    -----       the balance between life and death    hanging so deeply in the balance of this dusty-dark town.     her body was in a small ball,     twisted her body to the ground as she did her best to support the man.        AND  VAGULY  SHE  COULD  HEAR  THEM,     and there was a gasping little breath of the man resting in her arms as she   did her best to prop him up 

‘    i c-can’t,   ‘             she felt the gun in her hand.      HEAVY METAL,      and there it was.      there was that balance with flickered weight and tiny bullets.     it didn’t seem right how this became the currency of this world.        ‘   you have to.  ‘      AND  SHE  DIDN’T  EVEN  THINK  !      with a racing heart resting somewhere in her throat,     her hand rested on the back of his neck.     leaning down she held his head in her fingers,      fingers in his hair as the other hand    pressed against his chest as she pushed the side of the gun against his heart.       ‘   stay with me,   ‘      she breathed before she tilted her head.     lips softly ran across his as she exhaled.     weakened body,     she shook out her head  as she pressed harder on his chest.
