﹙ *☆ ┆ toots, tilden.
“Ted” Tilden stuttered out. “Ted, Ted, T-e-d.” He took a sip from his cup. “That’s such a nice name. You can fuck it up. Nobody can fuck up a name like Ted. But Tilden? I’ve been call some funny shit. But I like Ted.” @tedwvrd
❛ — well, thanks, man, ❜ ted replied, amused. although he, too, held a cup of alcohol, he hadn’t had even a single sip. he preferred to be in control of his senses whenever possible. ❛ — i like your name TOO, though. it’s unique. us teds are a dime a dozen. ❜
﹙ *☆ ┆ vanity, emma.
SHE WAS NEVER THE CONSOLING TYPE . no , mother failed to teach her such things ; and yet she understood . her own nights were plagued with tossing and turning , guilt stricken images burning behind eyelids whenever they closed . so maybe it was better not to close them at all ? but this was emma vanity & she would never admit to such sleepless nights . it simply meant her mornings consisted of extra care so that there were no questions . no blemishes . ❛ rough night ? ❜ her brow was arched , stained lips sipping the dark , caffeinated drink . ❛ the bags under your eyes says it all . ❜
ted didn’t even bother to glance her way, instead stoically stirring a single lump of sugar into his tea. ❛ — funny, didn’t think you’d notice under-eye bags that weren’t designer. ❜ he'd never been much of a morning person. especially these days, when he was having more and more trouble falling asleep. good to know it showed. ❛ — i was on prefect duty, if you must know. ❜ a handy excuse, even if it wasn’t true.
﹙ *☆ ┆ allaire, elodie.
ÉLODIE; STARTER
to say she hadn’t been expecting it would be an understatement, in all honesty she hadn’t even considered it a possibility. a summer spent in s t r e s s of what letters one letter would bring élodie didn’t anticipate that another letter would hold a shiny silver badge. she didn’t exactly sing and shout about it, indeed she forgot to wear it for the first week. finally stumbling into the great hall one morning ( half asleep ) still affixing the ❛ quidditch captain ❜ badge to her robes.
❝ so… what d’ya think? ❞ she asked dragging a tangled mess of hair from her face.
already on his second cup of tea, ted was much more awake than the ravenclaw. an amused smile tugged at the corner of his mouth at her disheveled state. ❛ — what do i think ? i think you need some coffee. you’re at the wrong table, allaire. ❜ he slid a nearby pot over to her helpfully. ❛ — however, i believe a congratulations is in order nonetheless. ❜
﹙ *☆ ┆ vector, septima.
SHE’LL FLICK HER WAND effortlessly , turning the small light off as she heard voices up ahead . one sounded angry , the other was scolded . shit , she’d failed to catch someone and now one of the professors would have her arse for it . upon arriving somewhat , the slim witch backs herself into a secluded corner , pressing against the wall to watch in amusement . it wasn’t a professor , but ted tonks doling out disciplinary action . her jaw nearly dropped at his wavering resolve , her hazel hues watching the child scurry off , a satisfied smirk adorned . what a little shit . alas with his beckoning , septima emerged with a soft scoff . “ like you , i don’t need one . ” she scrunches her nose at the smell coming from the cig . “ lucky that little lion came across a generous snake . lucky it wasn’t me . ” a knowing smile .
ted noted the nose scrunch, but paid little heed. still, he directed his next exhale of smoke away from her; a kindness he might not have paid another day, especially given the veiled contempt he thought he detected in her words. this was why he was loath to show anything resembling softness around his fellow snakes. he lifted an apathetic shoulder, taking another drag on the cigarette. ❛ — well, SOMEONE has to be good cop. ❜ he was aware of the distinctly muggle turn of phrase as he said it, the same way he’d learned to become aware of every muggle habit and quirk that marked him irrevocably as an outsider. in his younger years, he’d tried to smother such telltale mannerisms. these days, though, he didn’t bother. it was much more satisfying to wear his heritage with pride, right next to his shiny prefect badge. ❛ — i didn’t have the energy to deal with a temper tantrum. but if you catch the kid again, vector, you can deal with her however you want. be my GUEST. ❜
﹙ *☆ ┆ black, andromeda.
A PERFECT POSTURE WAVERED , dark eyes widened as a hand shot to her heart , clutching the fabric of her shirt as she whispered a profanity . ❛ Shit ! ❜ Rushing to the charmed record player , she stopped the music . The young girl was sweating , clearly worn out from dancing . ❛ How- How long were you standing there ? ❜
❛ — was i not supposed to be ? ❜ ted asked, lifting his eyebrows, hands stuffed in the pockets of carefully ironed hand-me-down trousers. he’d only been there a few seconds, really, but if it bothered her to think he’d been watching longer, he’d let her think it. anything that bothered a black sister was worth it in ted’s books. ❛ — well, by all means, don’t stop on my account, ❜ he deferred, only a hint of derision detectable in an otherwise steely polite voice. ❛ — go ahead. keep PRACTICING. ❜ you need it. he didn’t say the last part aloud, but the implication hung unspoken in the air as clear as if he had.
he pushed himself off from where he’d been leaning against the doorframe, straightening his lanky frame and giving her a sardonic two-fingered salute before continuing on his way. had he been needlessly passive aggressive towards a girl he hardly knew ? perhaps, but some of his housemates could stand to be knocked down a peg or two. these purebloods were all the same.
﹙ *☆ ┆ carrow, alecto.
alecto allowed herself to peek around the curtained alcove she’d tucked herself into while ted told off the young gryffindor. she’d thought she was well hidden — but then she was no prefect; perhaps they’d all had extensive training spotting alecto - shaped shadows hiding in the dark. when she saw her friend was by himself ( and smoking, now; if only that gryffindor could’ve seen it and seethed, she thought ) she stepped out entirely and made her leisurely way over to meet him.
“ goodness, “ she finally said, tossing her hair over her shoulder like she’d planned this meeting all along. “ I wasn’t aware I’d have to prepare an excuse. the truth might not measure up to some of the things you’ve heard people plead over the years. now, between you and me, this was a midnight stroll. but if you’ve got something better I’ll go with that instead. “ she blinked at ted for a moment before breaking out of the wide - eyed act with a small grin; nodded her head at the box in his hands like she wasn’t in danger of any kind of trouble here. “ in the meantime, care to spare one of those for a beloved pal? “
at the sight of alecto, he relaxed, ever so slightly – a rare enough occurrence for ted tonks. ❛ — you’re not fooling me, carrow. i’ve no doubt you’ve got some watertight excuse tucked up your sleeve. ❜ he gave her a nod and a small, dry smile in return, withdrawing another cigarette from the confiscated pack and passing it to her. ❛ — lucky for YOU, i won’t ask. you can save it for a rainy day and someone who might actually believe it. i’m afraid i wouldn’t be very appreciative. ❜
ted lapsed into an impassive silence after that, watching the smoke curl into the night air. tapping the ashes from the end of his cigarette, he cleared his throat gently before speaking again, his tone wry. ❛ — you know, it really is remarkable how few people know that there’s absolutely nothing in the hogwarts rulebook against smoking. ❜ he took another thoughtful drag, his next words taking on a distinctly bitter amusement. ❛ — you really think hogwarts cares about anything that could cause some trivial muggle disease ? ❜
He’s not with the Organization.
❛ — alright, tell you what. ❜ though ted was speaking quietly, his voice, friendly but firm, still carried through the abandoned moonlit halls of hogwarts. abandoned, that is, except for the third year he’d just caught cozying up with a cigarette well past curfew. ❛ — if you head straight back to gryffindor tower, and PROMISE never to let me catch you with one of these again – ❜ he shook the cigarette pack he’d confiscated from the younger student. ❛ — i won’t take any points from gryffindor or tell mcgonagall what you were up to. sound FAIR ? ❜ the third year hesitated, looking equal parts angry and grateful, then reluctantly grasped ted’s outstretched hand in a handshake. ❛ — great. now s c a t. and remember … ❜ ted paused, tilting his head ever so slightly down at her and allowing the silence to stretch out unbroken for a few more seconds. ❛ — never break a promise with a slytherin. we don’t take kindly to liars. ❜ he watched her eyes widen before she scampered off into the darkness, and bit back a laugh. gryffindors. they loved their ghost stories.
tapping a confiscated cigarette from the box into the palm of his hand, he balanced it between his lips and had just lit the end with his wand when he caught a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye. he glanced over at the intruder with a cocked brow, allowing himself an indulgent drag from the cigarette before he spoke again. ❛ — and what’s YOUR excuse ? ❜
do the gods worship themselves
would you ever sleep with a friend? would you ever sleep with an enemy?
❛ — would i sleep with a friend ? ‘course. i’ve done it before and i’d do it again. would i sleep with an ENEMY ? i mean, depends on the time and place, but who doesn’t enjoy a healthy dose of hate sex every now and again ? ❜
What keeps you going?
❛ — people who say i won’t. ❜
﹙ *☆ ┆ fenwick, benjy.
a boyish , nearly infectious laugh echoed down the staircase that led to the entrance of the gryffindor tower . & after a few moments , a grinning benjy emerged bouncing down the steps with a joyful hop to his step . all that was on his mind was breakfast . his feet nearly slipped on the marble floor in his hurry ; a loud giggle erupting next until he noticed someone familiar . ❛ morning ! ❜ he beamed , robes whisking around him before his steps slowed . ❛ are you heading to the great hall too ? because i could go for some bacon and eggs myself . ❜
ted already had a thermos of steaming tea in his hand as he made his way towards the great hall. as a perennial night owl, ted and morning were not friends and never had been. the fortifying warmth and caffeine his tea offered him just couldn’t wait until he got to the great hall. he took a sip as benjy bounced over to him, allowing the sharply sweet scent of bergamot to fill his nostrils as the other boy rattled on. ❛ — let me GUESS, you’re a morning person ? ❜ ted interjected, though not unkindly. ❛ — don’t know how you manage it, what with all your midnight adventures. ❜ he arched an eyebrow at the younger boy, recalling with wry amusement the number of times he’d caught benjy out of bed past curfew. he took another swallow of his tea, its warmth filling his chest pleasantly. ❛ — bacon and eggs sound brill, benj. ❜
BRENTON THWAITES —— well, if it isn’t EDWARD “TED” TONKS, the SLYTHERIN superstar. for those of you who don’t know HIM, you can spot them sitting with the other SEVENTH years. most people think that they’re CHARISMATIC and SELF-RELIANT, but they can also seem pretty RESENTFUL and OBSESSIVE. sometimes people call them the ARCHITECT. sure, they’re a MUGGLEBORN, but that doesn’t define them.
my talent is coming off warm and inviting and open but still remaining a fairly closed off person
