Where to hit me up once Tumblr’s gone.
Well it’s looking increasingly like the ‘rescue plan’ probably won’t end up being anything. ( If they do suddenly pop out after this post announcing their great site, and invite us all over then yay, but they’ve blown past every deadline they’ve set, so far. ) Like basically anyone and everyone else who’s doing NSFW stuff, I’ll have to move next week, and like most people I’m just kind of registering to most places that seem vaguely interesting. Though that means stretching out thin across multiple platforms, to hedge my bets and see which ones will grow. (Similar exoduses in the past have spawned new sites, like the Sheezyart exodus spawning y-gallery and furaffinity. ) So the next years will probably be filled with a lot of smaller galleries getting off the ground thanks to renewed interest, and artists trying to find new places to settle down. Of course, being spread out over a half dozen sites is going to be ridiculous, so once things settle down and I get a better picture of how many people are active on the various platforms, I’ll have a better idea of which sites to focus on, and which aren’t really worth it.

The Big 3
Twitter: https://twitter.com/greyrockel For now it’s more or less home base, but twitter is not exactly great for artists or for showing stuff off. But until they too kick off NSFW people ( which seems likely.) they’ve got by far the largest install base. FurAffinity: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/greyrockel/ FA is pretty stable, and I think I’ll try to keep up a regular presence there going forwards, though it’s not great for videos. Atleast this is a safe bet. Pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=30819972 Pixiv is nice enough, I quite like the recommendation and tagging system they have there, though having to censor stuff is hella annoying, (especially for animations.) (Stuff here will be censored.)
Small, or up and coming:
Pillowfort: https://www.pillowfort.io/Greyrockel Pillowfort seems interesting, and could be pretty capable one day. In like.. 1-2 years. They’ve currently got load issues, and I think registrations are temporarily closed. If they sort out their issues they have the potential to be a great site, but until they get their free accounts system up and running in mid-2019, I doubt many people will make accounts there. (They want to have a premium + free user setup to finance the site, but if they can turn that into a reliable revenue stream remains to be seen.) BaraAddiction: https://baraaddiction.net/profile/Greyrockel BaraAddiction seems entirely new, I’ve never really heard of it before. And while it is currently pretty unpolished, it’s been getting updates pretty quickly. So pretty unsure about it, but it does seem more willing to experiment than a couple other gallery sites. Barabox: https://barabox.io/user/Greyrockel Barabox still exists, but I’m in general kind of wary of it. The moment it failed to get off the ground, it seemed like it just died. Neither their twitter or site newsfeed even recognize or comment on the tumblr purge, and the newest news post on the site is from November 2017 talking about a Q2 2018 update that I’m not sure ever happened. On top of that, from the early discussions about it, Barabox was bankrolled by someone. It does not have any kind of ads or other revenue stream, and I am extremely wary of what’s going to happen once they start needing a revenue stream.(Though the revenue stream and long term prospects is a huge issue for all of these smaller sites. Hosting a website for a lot of people, and trying to develop it are both costly propositions. )Joker: Y-gallery, I’ll probably join it if they ever finish it up and let people join. (But who knows when, or even if that’ll be.)
A reblog before the possible purge: Also a small addition: Newgrounds https://greyrockel.newgrounds.com/ (I am able to export unreal builds over to it, so I guess I’ll take a look at uploading a realtime version of one of my animations there sometime. Or possibly a small game. )
A reblog for the night crew
