Griffius | Beauty and the Beast AU

“Well… I just fear that the one thing I do do would bore you or that you would mock me.” Marius replied. He fiddled with his claw. “Though fighting lessons seem like a good way to pass the time as well.”
The prince lets out a yawn, feeling his tiredness seep into his bones. Oh how he missed his bed back home, nothing was better than sinking into the soft mattress and wrapping up in the sheets after long days. He just manages to register Marius’ concern of him mocking his hobbies, mind slowly drifting away.
“Ah yes, we shall swing swords and swap hits til the days end,” he chuckles, he rolling to his side so his back was to Marius, hoping the other would take the hint and let him sleep.
Morning comes, and the prince groans softly, dawn’s early rays shining through his window. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he sits up. Rising so early isn’t custom for Griffin, he’s surprised by himself but takes this as a small blessing of sorts.
He quietly exits his room, golden bauble trailing behind him. It occurs to him that snooping through the beast’s cottage could lead to him having his chest torn to ribbons, and that thought sends a shiver down his spine, but he continues on. He likes to believe the other at least enjoys his presence enough to forgive this misguided search.
The sight of Marius’ bedroom door, cracked open just the slightest, should be his signal now is not the time...but Griffin was never the brightest, and instead only sees the chance to explore a part of the cottage he’d stayed away from. Pulling the door further open, he quickly slips inside, shutting it just close enough to look like it hadn’t moved. Blue eyes scan the small room, zeroing in on a small wooden figure besides the rumpled bed. Quiet steps take him closer, reaching down to examine the wood, a small smile forming on his lips. Was this mean to be someone?
...was it meant to be him?
