“Here you go big man. Come on then. I warn you: I’ve been trained to kill since birth.”
Arthur [to Merlin]: Hi, you’re not married.
Merlin: No, I’m Merlin.

“Well that’s dumb. Who wouldn’t want magical people around?” Rhoswen asks, cocking her head to the side. “Are you afraid daddy will fire you?”
She squirms around in her chair, facing Marius. “I think it will be the first time anybody will say I look like a princess. Normally I look like a mess,” she laughs, before quickly adding, “A cool mess. The coolest mess.”
Marius looked pained, but covered it with a smile. “You would be surprised.” He said. “And I am unsure if he would fire me, but I imagine a king would not be particularly happy with his one and only daughter in the care of a sorcerer... I need this job to provide for my sisters.”
He laughed. “Now that I can believe!”

Griffin glares at his servant, not appreciating the snarky remark. “Everyone likes me, Marius. Part of my princely charm,” he says with a roll of his eyes.
“I wike you,” Lowri murmurs, waving her toy in front of her, mostly unaware of the conversation happening around her.
“What books are you showing us?” the prince asks, trying to keep his face serious, a hard task with the small child trying to play with him.
“Some books on magic, and any other helpful texts I can find that were left behind,” Aled explains, before excusing himself from the room to gather the needed materials.
With the sound of Bronwen cluttering around the kitchen, Griffin sighs and returns attention to Marius. “How did things look? Are we facing something truly dreadful?” he asks, glancing down to Lowri. “And answer carefully.” He doesn’t want to scare the small girl.
Marius responded to the prince with a roll of his own eyes. When Aled left to get the books, Marius looked after him and then back at Griffin. He gave Lowri a wary glance. “Perhaps, Lowri, your mother could use some help in the kitchen?” The girl sighed, but skipped off to help her mother finish dinner.
“Things are looking really bad, Griffin.” Marius said seriously, sitting next to the prince and talking in a hushed tone. He looked at him urgently. “From what I can tell over half the village has the disease and there is no significant sign or pattern to discern the plague’s origin. I’m having Aled pull out some old spell books because I worry that this plague might have something to do with sorcery.”
He took a deep breath and stared the prince in the eye. “I’m worried if we don’t find a cure soon, the entire village will perish. And then who knows if it will spread.”

Rhoswen’s mouth opens in a soft gasp, watching the tiny butterflies flutter about through the mirror’s reflection, scared to move as if any second they’d disappear. “That’s so much cooler than paper ones,” she whispers in awe, bringing a finger up to her hair to delicately touch one. “They’re so pretty, Marius. Thank you. Can you make them whenever you want? Can you make other things? How magical are you?” she asks in a flurry, excitement bubbling inside her. “We have to show daddy! Oh! Do you think he’ll like the butterflies in my hair?” The small princess smiles at herself in the mirror, giggling happily. “I don’t look like a mermaid now, I look like a wood elf or something. Are they as cool as mermaids?”
Marius smiled. He watched Rhoswen with a tenderness in his eyes. He had really grown fond of the princess rather quickly. “I can make them whenever I want, yes. And I could make other stuff as well.” He laughed. “I’m very magical, but you have to keep it a secret. People who can do magic aren’t always given the warmest welcome... “
“I think he will love the butterflies! You look like a beautiful princess.” He replied with a smile. “I have never met a wood elf, but I imagine they are very cool.”
Love Will Find A Way || Griffius
griffindallben:
“Huh? Oh, no I don’t believe so. Besides I’m fairly certain the guards have more important things to do than listen in on us, haha. I was just thinking…” the prince begins but trails off, turning to look at Marius once more. “Doesn’t matter what I was thinking.”
He pauses for a second, registering what Marius had been saying before whispering. “Run away? No, I suppose we wouldn’t get too far, but who knows with your magic. You can cause many a distraction, but frankly running away would just look bad if we are caught.” Griffin let’s his eyes drift shut, leaning back slightly on his arms to relax.
Marius eyed his friend curiously. “It matters to me.” Marius said. He was curious to know what the prince had up his sleeves. Perhaps it would be useful information. He laughed. “Yeah, if we ran and I got caught I do not think events would make a repeat of this morning.”
Griffin & Marius || Valiant
griffindallben:
Aled led Marius back to his home, keeping to himself as he thought of all the poor villagers who were suffering. He perks up slightly at the sight of his family.
“Welcome home, father,” Browen says cheerfully from her seat next to Griffin. “Dinner is ready.”
“And it’s delicious,” the prince says from the table, putting his spoon down and giving Bronwen a polite smile. Griffin turns to the door and immediately looks Marius over. “You didn’t catch it, did you?” he asks, sounding a bit annoyed even though he really was concerned.
“Did you, did you!” Lowri repeats and giggles, sitting on Griffin’s lap with a small wooden toy in her hand. Bronwen rolls her eyes and laughs to herself, standing from the table to begin serving dinner.
The Elder chuckles. “Marius, it appears our prince has won himself a little admirer while we were gone.” Griffin just shrugs, smiling down at the young girl who was happily babbling to herself. “Would you like me to show you the books, or shall I bring them out here for you and the prince to look over?”
Marius smiled at Bronwen and the scene. “It smells divine, Bronwen! It’s a good thing I have worked up an appetite.” He announced as they entered. He frowned at the prince.
“If what people are saying is true, if I would have caught it, we would have known by now.” He said snarkily. Then, he smiled down at Lowri. “It does appear that someone likes you, Prince Griffin. That is, indeed a rare feat!”
He turned his attention back to Aled. “We can look at them over a bowl of the wonderful stew your daughter made.”
