Weâve just won an IBM Innovation Award
At IBM Taiwanâs annual business partner event here in Taipei we were lucky enough to be awarded with an IBM Innovation Award for Griffin MAS, our CDN built on Softlayer infrastructure.

Now serving Taiwan! New POP added to our CDN
Today we are excited to announce that we have added a Taiwan POP to our global network of edge servers, which brings our total number of points-of-presence to 23 across 5 continents.
Throughout 2016 we intend to continue to expand our Asian network of POPs to ensure that our customers are able to accelerate content both domestically and globally. So stay tuned for more exciting news in the months ahead!

Real-time MAS Network Status
MAS now features a real-time network status page enabling customers to check and monitor the health of the MAS network. Get informed of scheduled maintenance ahead of time by subscribing to updates, and monitor incidents as they occur in real-time.
You asked, and we listened. MAS now supports live streaming and VOD.
MAS is puting the âliveâ in live streaming, by taking care of stream ingestion, encoding, edge distribution across the MAS network, and lastly the streaming of adaptive content to your users across a variety of streaming protocols including RTMP, HLS, and MPEG-DASH. Looking for a video-on-demand solution? With MAS you can now deliver fast, secure viewing experiences to any device, anywhere in the world. MAS supports the HLS and MPEG-DASH streaming protocols, as well as HTTP Progressive Download. More information about MAS VOD is available here.

Protect your origin servers with MAS Origin Protection, at no extra charge.
MAS Origin Protection is a built-in feature available to all MAS customers which protects your origin server(s) from receiving too many requests for new files. It works like this: When you upload a new file to your origin server and a user requests this file from MAS cache, a MAS node nearest to your user will make a request for the file to your origin server while pass-thru streaming the file to the end user. To protect your origin server(s) from requests which might be made for the same file but through a different MAS POP, the MAS caching system instructs all caching nodes in all our POPs to download and cache the file from the MAS node which made the origin request to your origin server. This means that your origin server will only be hit one time, by the MAS node which is nearest to your user.
Taiwan POP coming soon
To provide our customers in Taiwan with even faster domestic coverage, MAS will soon be adding a Taiwan POP to its existing list of 22 global POPs. Stay tuned for updates.
MAS is now serving 100,000s of requests per day
Despite being just a few months old, MAS is already serving hundreds of thousands of requests per day, and this number is growing by the week. While this figure is not in the range of the Goliath CDNs in the industry, this remains an exciting metric for us at MAS, as it validates the stability and scalability of our deployment which now resides in 22 Softlayer points-of-presence across the globe. We wonât get hung up on numbers just yet though, as weâve got some new features to roll out. Stay tuned.
