5 Years on tumblr? Wow.

Ahoy, Lasses, Gentlematies, and everybody in between and beyond. This is the mod here speaking, on this Talk-Like-A-Pirate-Day.

I just wanted to say that I am amazed that 5 years after I joined tumblr and the tumblrpon community, it is still going. And I am glad that I am still a part of it, even if the current story arc is stuck as I struggle to come up with a new update to it. But eventually, I’ll be able to continue it, and I look forward to doing so, and to seeing what the rest of the folks here will do in the coming years.

But I wouldn’t even be THIS active without a few friends I made during my time.

@fimficveyron : I know we don’t get to talk much these days, Vey, but I still remember that it was you who gave me the idea to make Jolly’s story into what it is now, the story of an old retired pirate who enjoys the company of his friends and telling stories to foals. And it was also you who showed me that you don’t have to be great at drawing to convey beautiful stories.

And since you included my old horse when you decided to doodle the pirate captains of tumblr, not only was it a big step to starting the group, but it also made me feel included in something awesome.

@askcaptaindrog : Drog, you’re always fun to chat with and hang out with in streams. You’ve shown me that even an uncommon concept, like a large anthropomorphic Diamond Dog leading a group of air pirates, can be very neat, and it inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and write more than just short one-off stories about Jolly sitting in his shop.

@askcaptainskysail / @modponytales : Sky, not only are you also always fun to talk to, but collabing with you on the prom story was incredibly awesome, and gave me a chance to be creative again without having to worry about the big story of Jolly’s family.

@askpiratedash / @piratedashmod : TJ: You have been an inspiration ever since I started following your blog, almost immediately after creating this one, and being able to talk to you and call you a friend is something I have really come to appreciate. Even your puns. Especially your puns. And while I really don’t understand how you can be that much into sports, your passion for it is also something that inspired me to keep going. Hopefully next year, I’ll be able to come to a con and meet you in person.

@pirateking-hightide / @hightidemod : Tide, you’re also one of the people who showed me that being a writer is just as valuable as being an artist when it comes to keeping a blog going. And High Tide’s shenanigans are always fun.

@beardie-arts : Beardie, while I am sad that you decided to put Rosa away into the hiatus corner indefinetely, your random hijinks both here on tumblr and in the pirate chat often make me smile. Or shake my head. But generally smile. Stay yourself.

@plunderismagic : You showed me that you don’t need fancy drawing tablets to draw. And while I still have some way to go until my art looks as nice as yours, or until I’m more comfortable posting it, I’ve been doodling a lot more since I’ve known you. And you’ve also shown me that, even today, if you’re a pirate at heart, you shouldn’t care about what others think, and just be yourself.

Thank you to all of you. I am glad to know each and every one of you, and you all are the reason I am still here producing content about pirate horses (even if it’s very slow.)

Ever wanted to get into Dungeons and Dragons but didn’t know how or felt intimidated by game shops? Joined a group only to be made to feel bad for being a newbie or were made uncomfortable by rude men at the table? Just wanna chill and talk D&D with a group of super rad women and NB folks? There’s a discord channel for that! We’re only a week old but we’ve already surpassed 100 members and they’re all lovely, inclusive as heck and welcoming.
