see, doof made norm for a completely different purpose and with a different relationship in mind than the one norm wanted

doof saw them as like ball-busting besties - norm was someone he could vent to without consequence, without responsibility. he created a safe outlet to deal with his feelings, something a bit like the stable antagonism he later found organically with perry. and until perry, he did not expect to get those feelings back. doof saw norm as a sounding board, someone who didn't need anything from him, but norm immediately saw doof as a father figure whose approval he could earn. it put doof in the position of someone expecting too much from him, and this collapsed into low-key resentment and just generally taking him for granted over time. norm is too much a reflection of doof's own neediness for them to get along often. doof likes to project his emotions onto people who appear more aloof than him, and doof is also always the first to withdraw when he gets offended or upset, because it is easier than getting hurt. norm tried to put doof in the role of parent when doof was already feeling like he was failing in that regard with vanessa, and it took doof a long time to acknowledge that norm could love him despite that constant failure and that he could love norm without triggering his own fears. but he's in therapy now and can articulate the ways in which his neediness created something good and unexpected and dependable, and seeing the good in norm is also about seeing the good in himself, even when he was at his lowest. and rather than shutting down the possibility that norm has his own needs and sees himself as a son, not a sounding board or just a friend, he can allow real change ("change! coins!") to happen in their relationship without feeling the need to control its boundaries. when doof says norm is better than family, he means he thought he came with none of the baggage that doof associates with family. he wouldn't leave. he wouldn't hurt. he wouldn't cry. but through norm, doof can see that you can create a family without meaning to, because you don't get a say in how much other people love you, even when you might let them down.

Since I've been pnf posting a lot lately here's another theory.

Phineas gets his personality from Linda, and by looking at Phineas, we may be able to explain some of her actions.

The most obvious example is how much both of them prioritize seizing the day. Linda is always out doing something whether its a craft class or surfing lessons or playing cards with friends. In that respect she is just like her son.

Second, which I don't think enough people know about, is that Linda was an astrophysicist. Jack Johnson brings up Linda's past in astrophysics in the season 4 episode Face Your Fears, to which Linds tells him its a secret. Was she doing classified work? Is she pretending to not notice what the boys are doing to keep plausible deniability in case the government comes after her? Did a lab accident kill Candace and Phineas' father? I feel like a lot of people try to use the theory about Doof being Phineas' dad to explain his skills, when Phineas actually gets it from Linda.

Third, Linda is just as oblivious as Phineas. Phineas is very bad at noticing what is right in front of him, like Isabella's crush or a giant hadron collider. Similarly, Linda can be told over and over by her own sons what they are doing and still not get it.

It may seem unfair to say those traits are similar because Linda is so dismissive of Candace, but Phineas is also pretty dismissive of people he finds annoying. In Voyage to the Bottom of Buford, Phineas calls Buford annoying for grieving his lost goldfish and really only helps him so that he stops crying. He totally dismisses Buford's emotions and requests to console him. Its the same with the breadbowl hot tub. He only humors Buford so that he stops asking.

I'm not trying to say that Phineas is a jerk because he obviously genuinely cares about Buford and his other friends. I'm bringing it up because I think it gives some insight into how Linda treats Candace. Like Phineas, she's oblivious and dismissive. Although Phineas is a 10 year old who is terrible with social cues and Linda is a mother who clearly needs to find a better way to manage Candace's obsession.

I do feel for her sometimes because Candace's behavior is unhealthily obsessive and Linda is like the only one who doesn't enable her. She clearly wants Candace to live a happy life and knows that trying to bust her brothers for (seemingly) nothing won't give her that. I don't think she is a bad mom. But unlike her son who actually tries to solve problems, even when they are annoying, Linda just dismisses her daughter as crazy.

Everyone's heard the "Doofenshmirtz is Phineas's biological father" theory. It's been proven wrong, and directly denied by Dan Povenmire.

HOWEVER.

Here's my insane conspiracy nut take on the relation between Doof and Phineas:

They're half-brothers, and Bill Cipher is the father.

The Book of Bill implies that Bill is Phineas's biological father. Neither of Doof's parents were present at his birth. Conclusion: Bill Cipher gave birth to Doof.

Phineas and Doof were two failed attempts to create someone who would build Bill's portal. Doof was a failure because, like in Across the 2nd Dimension, Doof always added a self-destruct button that unintentionally prevents the portal from working at all. Phineas was a failure because Bill could NEVER find a way to manipulate that boy (...and also because of the Phineas and Ferb Effect).

I had to look this up in the Book of Bill because I couldn't remember this.

I think this could either be him refusing to confess or being tired at the ridiculousness of the question. However, there are several times GF and PnF implied they exist in the same universe so it could be true. I like this theory regardless. Now time to take it way more seriously than I'm sure you intended.

The only thing holding it back is that Phineas and co. do get manipulated in the show by aliens to build a portal to break them out of prison. Phineas kinda believes anything anyone says at face value.

But I do not think Bill could manipulate Phineas. Bill's preferred method is offering a self-serving reward in exchange for doing what he wants. Phineas is completely satisfied with his life and wouldn't want anything that he couldn't share with his friends. And its established that Phineas only does what he does because he enjoys the process of making stuff with his friends. He wouldn't want Bill to just give him stuff that he wants to create himself.

Doofenshmirtz would take a deal with Bill for an extremely petty reason but be so annoying about it and keep adding new things that Bill would realize its not worth it. Especially since Doof's success rate is basically 0%.

I would like to think that this theory implies Candace is also a creation of Bill. She is hyper-focused on doing one specific thing, which is the kind of dedication Bill wants. She is also very creative and smart, but isn't interested in engineering or science like Phineas.

I believe Candace would be able to see right through Bill. She is already a very paranoid person and immediately hostile to anything supernatural. The second Bill asks her to build a crazy invention she is out of there. Instantly she'd go "the triangle with the maniacal laugh who haunts my dreams and wants me to take his deal is definitely evil" and get Stacy to perform an exorcism from an online tutorial.

Okay so I am absolutely hooked on the whole idea of the third Phineas and Ferb movie. I have no clue what its going to be like but my mind has been running with concepts. Ive come up with an AU. Basically a what if they never met! Phineas is a quiet kid. An outcast. He's all ideas and imagination with nowhere to go. His ideas are deemed to reckless, to unfinished, too much imagination. So he learned to be quieter. He doesn't have friends. He's got a massive crush on the prettiest most confident girl in school but she barely knows he exists, probably only knows him as the weird idea kid. He goes to school, and comes home to his mom and sister arguing because they don't understand each other. His room is too big. it feels like something is always missing. Ferb is a boy genius. If you give him blueprints or instructions, he can do just about anything. (Don't ask him to come up with something original though.) He keeps up being perfect because that makes it easy for his single dad who does everything and is always tired. He's always praised by teachers, idolized by peers. He wishes he could just be in the background without all the eyes on him. He goes home to his bedroom that feels so small, and pets his platypus Perry who's the only one that really sees him. One day, Ferb gets a huge opportunity to visit America for a competition. He goes of course, its expected of him. Phineas has been recruited by a teacher to help set up, because no one else volunteered. He accidentally bumps into the boy genius visiting from the UK. And well. Things go from there.

I decided to watch Attack On Titan for the first time and I'm mad no one told me to watch this sooner. I'm a few episodes into season 3 and here are my thoughts:

-if any of these characters deserve to snap it's Connie that poor boy has suffered

-I'm guessing the reason the titans don't have genitals is because then they would have to be censored

-the titans do look really cool tho

-doomed yuri?!?!?! Ymir and Historia make me insane in the best way

-it's funny how Armin is kind of like the rest of the squad's pet. Even when their former squad members are in titan form trying to murder everyone, no one wants to hurt Armin because he's so little

-Armin is definitely going to go insane tho he's basically already there

-Hange is so fun and I feel like if she was alive today she would be a proud monsterfucker

-the guy that is always hanging around Hange sounds like he's voiced by the same guy who voices Saiki and since I dont know his name I've just been calling him Saiki

-i understand why Levi is such a popular character he is so fucking cool

-Levi and Mikasa have the same last name, look similar, and have similar talents, but the show has not addressed it

-Mikasa is way cooler when Eren isn't around. He is so stupid he cannot be worth all this trouble

-I know Eren is probably carrying an insane amount of guilt for all the people that died for him

-wtf is this home that the titan kids keep talking about

-since the titans can regenerate infinitely why didn't they just kidnap one and use it as an infinite food source for the starving people? Surely Sasha would think of it

-idk if I'm hallucinating but I think there is something between Armin and Jean

-I think these people are really full of themselves to assume they are the only people left on earth. It's already implied that people live on the outside. Can titans swim? What about people on islands?
