i think griffith would be miserable if everything worked out and he got to rule midland

bc his dream was childish and irrational and not actually feasible imo. he didn’t want a kingdom, he wanted a utopia where nothing bad would happen and he could change everything wrong with the world.

and he wouldn’t actually see it this way, he’s not stupid, he rationally knows ruling would be difficult and he wouldn’t be able to fix everything, and he would absolutely step up to the task and try to implement positive change regardless, but i think deep down he would feel some kind of immense, irrational disappointment with the reality of the world that would eat away at him until he actually started dealing w/ the psychological root of his problem

ie guilt issues and trauma

also like, i’m just into the idea of griffith achieving his dream, being low key disillusioned with it, and finding more genuine emotional fulfillment in his relationship with guts

yeah, and i think possibly even moreso than disappointment it would just be more guilt. so he got all the way here and now he’s not fixing or changing anything significant. he hates his purposeless life and all those people’s deaths were still in vain

like ouch. hopefully guts would help with that tho

Then, there’s the trappings of such power. Griffith is ultimately a wild warrior and while there were warrior kings, they would still be impeded by the fact that they are KINGS and can only do so much, especially if they had no heir(not that it stopped certain kings, but they generally didn’t last very long).

 Even absolute power is nothing without strong support. Griffith is shrewd enough to know that. :/
