One of the Japanese traditions for a new baby's birth is to hold an oshichiya, which is a celebratory family dinner in which the newborn's name is shared with the rest of the family, usually both sets of grandparents. It’s not as common to uphold this tradition these days, but it’s not unheard of and I think the Todoroki family would possibly hold it as traditionalists.

But how does this make Touya’s situation worse?

The oshichiya is traditionally held on the seventh night after the baby is born.

Seven days after Shouto's birthday is Touya's birthday.

So three options, fanfic writers:

He was forced to share the day with Shouto.

His eighth birthday was celebrated on a different day.

With the stress that came with the new baby, Rei and Endeavor forgot. (Option 2 still stands here.)

the fact that touya probably died alone in that life support tube and was never able to tell his family how he felt (could barely talk after the attack) is actually breaking my heart. like hori made him suffer so much after LOSING and having to live on life support that only dragged out his pain, just to DIE?? like?? i seriously don't understand how he could create such a complex and genuinely wonderful character with so much potential just to kill him off? if he had touya survive the attack than he should've had a greater purpose for it, not just to kill him off later instead. like he had the worst fucking ending and life out of everyone in this manga. he was the only one in the league that didn't get the closure he needed so desperately ☹️ like i can't stop thinking about him. imagine how badly he wanted to live after the attack when he saw his family fighting for him. and the one time in his life where he wants to live, he finally dies.

I absolutely HATE when people write shouto fanfics and include cheating there

Like- Shouto Todoroki and cheating in the same sentence?? Shouto Todoroki, a man who swore he'd never become like his bitchass father who was hurting his wife during their entire marriage, would NOT cheat. He would never think about hurting his partner like his dad did to his mom.

(I know that Endeavor never cheated on Rei, but yk)
