Okay sooo, Silksong may have come out and I may have gotten a little obsessed, but that hyper fixation has played through itself now and we are back to making some maps!
I've been working on an overgrown variant of some of the caves I made. I admit this one has been a little inspired by Minecraft with the Azalea flowers and the heavy foliage.
The caves have gone a little green, and a little orange today!
I am working on some different variants to the cave maps I made and continuing to experiment with colors, gradients, and lighting!
I kinda love the one with the magma, I managed to nail the orange glow I wanted a lot better than I expected? I still think I need to work on the green/over grown map a little bit more. Needs more green.
What is happening this week LOL
First the busy long weekend, now Silksong, my poor workflow is getting annihilated LOL
Anyway, having fun with depth in the caves. Almost done with this theme I think, maybe I will have fun with variants. Greenpath from Hollow Knight and now the Moss Grotto from Silksong have got me inspired.

"y'know, so many dragons are grossed out by them, but i think they're fascinating! Did you know some adventurers form symbiotic relationships with small monsters? Some of them even do a simplified form of spellcraft! Like, with actual magic and everything!"
Still workin on caves from last week! The weekend was unsurprisingly busy, so lil behind where I wanted to be but thats okay! Tryin to get the soft gradiant down to make the lighting effects this week. I think I am figuring out the ranges of colors I want, so excited to keep practicing!
Obsessed by the Ursula Leguin's Earthsea saga at the moment.... Ged and his boat have been on my mind ⋆｡ﾟ🌊｡
a few months passed inbetween these two illustrations and I can see my painting style has evolved a bit like it's sharper I feel Idk ?
This week Im goin a little underground! Practicing more lighting here, tryin to mess with a lot softer light instead of as hard lights. I like it a lot but I almost worry its too subtle somewhat? I'll see how I feel when I finish this map!

Little slower this week cause starting a new job, but still workin at the snowy theme! More practice with perspective, tryin to evoke some sense of depth while also makin the maps dynamic!
We are gettin a little chilly this week! If only the real world could mirror that 😔
I am havin fun messin with the snowy hills and the foliage for the first two maps this week! I think tomorrow I might try messin with water in the snow, maybe try and make a partly frozen lake!
Rounding out the week of Urban practice with a map that is tryin to evoke a more dramatic height difference. I am pretty pleased with how I did, and overall pretty happy with the week of Urban work!
Looking back where I started to now, I learned a lot! I am going to definitely be doing something fantasy/wilderness next week, but I am already written down other ideas I had but didn't try this week.
Kinda starting to round out the Urban theme this week, but before its over I've been practicing with interiors. Some got a little cyberpunky/sci-fi but I work with the assets I have in Inkarnate!
I think next week I am gonna work on more wilderness maps, maybe something cold?
Sticking with the Urban theme this week! I am tryin to mess with some lighting effects today. Not 100% sure I am happy with it yet, but I'm at least content with what I've done so far!
Working on a new style in Inkarnate today! I've not really tried my hand at a lot of urban designs before this, but I am pretty happy with how I've done so far. There is a certain challenge with these environments to capture the proper scale between buildings, cars, an every day objects. I honestly started basing everything on 'car lengths' as a measurement once I got the car to a scale I was happy with!
A little detail I really like in a map I am working on. I am super proud of how I got the log to look sunken in like that and wanted to share it cause its such a small detail on the map that I feel it will go unnoticed on the whole thing ^^
I love adding small things like this, they are like little treats to myself and ways to try new things when makin maps!

I've been on Tumblr since it feels like forever, but I realized I've never really posted anything actually on it. Now that I am workin on some plans and projects in the background, I figured I might as well actually try posting something and using this space to share what I am working on!
