Black Films Matter: The Beginning
Following the success of the private screening of Marvel’s Black Panther movie, Gainesville Black Wall Street co-founders, Aaron Daye (Gorillaz Ink) and Trey Ford, partnered with the Hippodrome Cinema to host a Black Films Matter series at the historic Hippodrome State Theater in Gainesville, Florida. The series showcased a variety of blaxploitation and non-mainstream films with predominately Black cast. This is a list of films that started Black Films Matter.
