HEADSPACE HELPFUL HINTS
1. Look after your matesĀ
Travel with a friend. Make a meeting point where, if you get separated, lost your phone, can meet up. Check in with your friends to make sure they are okay, and let your friend know if you are not feeling well or if you need a break.
2. Chill out and take a breakĀ
Dancing, singing and being in the sun for several hours can result in dehydration or heat exhaustion, with or without the use of alcohol or other drugs. Be sure to take a break and cool-down regularly. The headspace help desk have a great REST area bought to you by REST Industry Super ā chill out on the bean bags or deck chairs.Ā
3. Hydrate and replenishĀ
Dehydration and heatstroke are real issues. Most medical issues and emergencies are a direct result of heatstroke and/or dehydration. Drink a bottle of water per hour and supplement with sports drinks. Get your water at the headspace help desk.Ā
4. Know Your drugĀ
There is no safe way to use drugs but if you choose to use; know your drug; go low; go slow; donāt mix; take a break; donāt use alone / tell a mate. If it all goes wrong call 000 ā you wonāt get in trouble for asking for help.Ā
5. Sleep and eatingĀ
This may be easier said than done, but remember ā healthy eating and sleeping are an important part of staying mentally and physically healthy. We can still have fun without pushing our bodies too hard. Make sure to eat healthy meals and get appropriate sleep before and after the event. Make sure to eat well before heading to the festival and eat a sufficient meal after.Ā
6. Protect your hearingĀ
Sound levels at events can be high, which can cause damage within a few seconds. The risk of hearing damage depends on: (1) How loud the music is; (2) How close you are to the speakers; (3) How long you are on the dance floor; and (4) Previous or a family history of hearing damage. Wear basic earplugs or, if you attend events regularly, invest in a reusable pair that do not distort the sound.Ā
7. SunscreenĀ
Even if itās not sunny - you can still get burnt. Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Sunscreen should be ābroad spectrumā and āwater resistantā. Apply over all areas of exposed skin 20 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every two hours or more regularly if you have been sweating when dancing. Check out the headspace help desk during the day to get your sunscreen on.Ā
8. If youāre sexually active, come prepared with protectionĀ
If you are sexually active, come prepared with an option for birth control and protection from sexually transmitted infections. We are more likely to engage in sexual activity when out with our friends in a relaxed and social environment. Itās not pretentious to come prepared; itās responsible and pragmatic.Ā
9. Know your rightsĀ
It is inevitable that you will have to interact with police and/or security while traveling to/from or entering the event. It is important to know your rights and how to engage with and speak to law enforcement. For more information and strategies see http://www.lawstuff.org.au/.Ā
10. Check out headspaceĀ
Donāt forget to come by and say hi to the headspace crew at the help desk at all GTM event ā or find out more about what else headspace can help with at www.headspace.org.au

āŖ#āGTM2016⬠words of wisdom dished out by Danny Clayton.
Follows the story of Batlow Premium Cider's cider-making process as they harvest apples specially selected for their cider. The film was beautifully shot on ...
We would like to introduce our official cider partner for GTM 2016, Batlow Cider!Ā
Batlow Cider is a grower & family owned cider company based in the apple growing town of Batlow in the Snowy Mountains of NSW.Ā
āThe best part about doing what we do is working with the growers of Batlow and turning their apples into a great refreshing drink that cider drinkers can enjoy. Apples are the lifeblood of the town, so this connection is really important. Every apple that goes into a bottle or can is handpicked from one of our orchards, so thereās a lot of love that goes into its creation. The other key highlight is being part of a cider revolution in Australia and contributing positively towards the growth of the category. We also have a great team, many of us have been friends for some time, so itās a fun working environment.ā

We asked Emma Louise a few questions ahead of #GTM2016
What has been your most memorable road trip experience?Ā
The most memorable road trip was the epic road trip out of Cairns, to Brisbane. All throughout high school my best friend Grace and I had planned the road trip. We made a play list of songs in grade ten and played the exact one 2 years later when we packed up and set off. It was a very exciting hour... but the novelty soon wore off. It was a long 3 day trip. I think sugar and caffeine are very good things to have on a road trip. Since that first trip out of Cairns Iāve had many road trips with my band. You need good music too- thatās a must. The car DJ has a very important role...its make or break out there. One time I remember being caught in very stagnant traffic on the way to the airport and I really (really really really) needed to pee. So badly that I literally asked everyone to stop talking because I couldn't hold it in any longer.. and then without saying a word I just kind of opened the door and peed right there besides the car in front of my whole band and in front of all of the cars in the still traffic. It was really funny and I could only laugh afterwards.Ā
What has been your favourite memory of the country?
I grew up in a few regional areas as a kid. Itās all very relaxed and easy going. I was born in Townsville and although i can't remember it I'm sure its the most amazing thing thatās every happened to me.Ā
What was your first music festival experience?Ā
I actually went to Groovin the moo when I was just out of high school. It was my first festival I had ever been to and I didn't know what was happening. I actually ended up only going in for a few hours. I saw Blue Juice play and loved it but then my friend got really sick so we went back to the hotel and ordered pizza. It was really fun though. I think the road trip from Cairns to Townsville was the most fun BUT you got to be careful because a few of my friends were involved in a pretty gnarly accident. So be careful when you're driving! Seriously. If you're driving... you're in control of your friendsā safety so be careful.Ā
What is your favourite local?Ā
Well I've just moved to Melbourne and thereās a cafe called Barry that is on my street. I go there every morning and I order the same thing. Its good to have that routine. I miss being able to know where my favourite places are. I think its important to have 'your places' ... the less time you have to spend trying to make decisions the better. That's for me anyways. There's times when you want to walk around and find a new good place to eat or drink ---- but most of the time I just like going to a place I know I like and feel good in.

MOOSFLASH: GTM announces a couple of changes to the 2016 artist line-up. We are super excited to welcome ARIA Award winning singer songwriter Jarryd James and electronic producer and RL Grime collaborator What So Not to the 2016 Tour. GTM has been advised that due to various circumstances MUTEMATH and Vic Mensa will no longer be able to make their respective trips to Australia this April/ May including the 2016 Groovin the Moo tour.
Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! x
They say everyone remembers their first time. No, weāre not talking about what you think weāre talking about. Weāre talking about the first time a musician sets foot on a stage with the express purpose of entertaining the audience with their tunes. Nic Wilson, guitarist for veteran homegrown indie rockers British India, definitely remembers his, ā¦
