When it comes to politics the media has always been present. It’s like the Media and Government where tied up with each other. But the question is, what actually happens behind the camera’s? Since media is what makes the information more interesting it is also one of the ways to spread up the news in different cities. Filipino spend almost all of their time through watching current issues of the country. Have you ever heard about media covering politics? Do you ever wonder why all you can see in social medias are only the good deeds of those politician people? Especially in the midst of elections whereas the government politicians pays the media to featured them in every category of the internet. But, later on you’ll get shocked because those politicians who have just featured in the internet are being held by polices because of the crimes they are related.

The Politicians value the social media for a number of reasons and one of this is that government officials such as politicians also know and understood how powerful media can be in terms of engaging citizens, especially in seeking feedback, creating awareness, and creating a participative model of governance. Controlling the internet by the use of media is a common tactic between the governors and media. Public officials believe that they get good press and good features from some reporters. So many governors set ground rules for the media. But of course, since the media and government have this love-hate relationship they would easily find ways to cover up some netizen who cries and bring up the bad things of a politician. This is the reality, it may be sad but it’s just how it works. Media and Government together is powerful but government without media is a government’s lost.

The value of being media and information literate is to engage in the digital society, which empowers people to utilize media and information to comprehend and make thoughtful decisions. Have the ability to evaluate the information we receive through the media, we can verify and check the information, also analyze it if it’s the right information as well as its sources, and finally, decode it. This gives us the ability to give meaning and to understand the information we receive through the media. Media-literate individuals are also critical thinkers who know how to analyze and recognize accurate and false information as well as its sources. It helps to improve quality of life because it makes it easier to locate and access the sources of information for us to gain knowledge or knowledge to influence others. It also makes it easier to search for information, communicate with others, and influence others.

Media and Information literate gives us freedom to express ourselves, it is very important in our democratic government to give equal rights to the citizens of our nation. As a student, being a Media Information literate can help us to process and gain information that can be used in our future especially when applying jobs. We can also gain inspiration to become an advocate to help our country to develop technologically and economically. Lastly, being a media information literate can influence and change other person’s perspective about a certain issues through posting your opinions and thoughts in social media sites. The best value that Media and Information literate can offer to us is that it can help us promote our nation in the global community,remember that being a Media Information literate doesn’t just memorize and read facts but rather they learn to it and apply it to their own understanding.
