I had my first therapy appointment last week and the difference between that and counselling is wild.
I realized after what we talked... I haven't had a way to cope with my depression or anxiety since I was self harming as a teenager and although that's bad I'm glad she helped me make that connection.
L o l I did therapy for like a year and quit because it was too hard and made me too sad.
I know that the best thing is to work through all of that but that was one of the darkest times I've had in awhile. Every time I've tried any type of therapy (I was doing it through a youth group when I was a teen, then tried councelling through my doctor later on and it was just a let down compared) I also get pretty attatched to my therapist (classic). Its so hard for me to be vulnerable with somebody, when I am finally able to let all that go and that relationship ends its like...100000x more devastating. Its been women every time too.
