A Labyrinth Abstracted

Buried in the trees of Kazakhstan’s sweeping Almaty forest is a cylindrical glass structure designed to help one with spiritual and creative development. At the moment, the four-story greenhouse designed by Architect Aibek Almasov, founder of A.Masow Design Studio, is still in early conceptual phases. Soon, the realized home will be a tranquilizing escape from the  bustling of Almaty - Kazakhstan’s largest, most developed and culturally diverse city.

I almost didn’t reblog this but I had to.

All my love to those who serve this great nation and to the families for all they do to support them.

My dad always was so quiet after coming home on days he had to do this.

I almost skipped this because it breaks my heart. But then I decided that’s kind of the best reason to reblog. My heart and prayers go out to everyone who has had to endure either side of this moment.

I honestly couldn’t thank men and women who serve enough. And especially their families because of this

My dad is a Marine. 

In one year, he attended 11 funerals for friends with whom he served. He has not told me all his stories, but he has seen friends shot, bayonetted, blown up, burned, swept overboard and decapitated. 

He has missed birthdays and anniversaries, and had to tell his wife, “I can’t tell you where I am, but for right now, I’m safe,” knowing that it was the truth, until the nest morning, when he would be airlifted back into an active war zone.

He has been the one to call a family member and tell them their Marine was coming home in a box.

He has a Silver Star and three Purple Hearts, two with valor. He was nominated for the MoH.

And he will tell you he is not a hero. He is just a Marine.
