Here we go, one last comic. And I pretty much only made this one as an excuse to dress up Dedede like Professor Layton. I do not apologize for this.

Thanks to Super Star Ultra, Dedede now has a much fuller range of emotions. Too bad this is more or less the last comic in the series, save for one more which I made over a year later for no reason.

Jeez I was 25 when I made this? By the time this actually makes it through the Tumblr queue, I’ll already have turned 29. And somehow I’ve managed to complete absolutely nothing of worth or interest in between. Le sigh. On a side note, here I’m now using the sprites from Kirby Super Star Ultra, most of which I ripped myself. I sure love the sprites in that game.

If I’m not mistaken I believe this was an attempt to make the comic using only Photoshop, just to test it out. Unfortunately if there’s one thing I suck at worse than drawing, it’s using Photoshop.

I was well aware before I made this strip that I was by far not the first one to make this joke and it would be a far dead-beaten horse. Hence The Visitor’s last line, which implies that he’s seen this situation one way too many times before.

If the previous comic hadn’t made it obvious, this one is sure to make it blatantly clear that this little storyline was meant to be a Wizard of Oz parody.

The human character used here is actually an older avatar character of a forum member who went by Eldred_Fireax; although at the time he actually wasn’t using that character design anymore. He is just playing the role of a generic human character in this comic, and his name is never actually spoken at any time, which is on purpose. Of course, I stopped updating the comic before this plot really went anywhere anyways.

The first panel is a throwback to an earlier strip, in case you don’t recall. Apparently that issue was never really resolved. Oh, and the rocket ship sprite is from Super Mario Bros. 2 … I think from the Mario All Stars version? Could have been the GBA version I suppose.

Back to stuff I can take credit for, apparently at this point I thought I’d try modifying my style to not use black outlines. The sprites individually look pretty good this way, but the problem is that they blend in too much with the background. This is apparently my last attempt at using custom sprites though, as starting with the next comic I start using the GBA ones again.
