HOW TO USE YOUR STUN-GUN
Knowing how to use your stun gun is extremely important. We want you to be prepared and protected! Make sure the assailant gets what they deserve with these helpful stun gun tips.
Target body areas with rich in nerve centers (as shown).
Hold the contact probes firmly against the aggressor for at least 3-5 seconds.
Remember that a stun gun doesn’t cause full paralysis - just a muscle spams and/or disorientation. Use this time to escape.
True or False?
“If I use the stun gun while in contact with the aggressor I will get shocked.”
False!
Even if the aggressor in physically touching you when you fire the stun gun, you will not suffer from a chargeback!

Say NO to bulletproof Inserts
A post shared by Guard Dog Security (@guarddogsecurity) on Feb 20, 2018 at 12:08pm PST
Say NO to bulletproof inserts! How would you feel if you gave your loved one an insert, not knowing if they would keep it in? With books, binders, notebooks and folders taking up necessary space and weight of the bag, it's highly likely an insert could be removed for space and weight conservation with the "it can't happen today" mindset. If an institution is providing removable panels or inserts, this could present a liability. Say NO to removable, potentially lifesaving protection.
Active Shooter Defense Training
On March 10, we partnered with Master Trainer @kravmagastdefflorida to bring you a Live Shooter Defense Training event, that presented training techniques and best practices on how to protect yourself in the event of an active shooter. It was a pleasure to meet many of you and if you couldn't make it we hope to see you next time! Be Prepared and Be Empowered.
Features of the Guard Dog ProshieldPro Bulletproof Backpack
Designed with today’s professional in mind, the ProShield Pro bulletproof backpack is the sleekest bag in our ProShield series. The Pro has touches of premium fabrics to accompany this fully functional backpack that can truly do it all. Briefly, I’ll go over some top-of-the-line convenience and security issues to help your decision-making process.
Let’s start with all the storage and accessibility options and what they do for you.
The backpack’s first compartment has double functionality. It is perfect for keeping together those files that you need quick access to for a project or presentation. At the same time, it provides you with smaller pockets where you can store your pens, pencils, mini staplers and other handy office supplies that you may like to carry with you on the go.
The second compartment has just the right amount of storage space for larger/heavier items such as textbooks, notebooks, and binders. It also includes an RFID blocking pocket, nicely suede-lined so you can place your credit cards for identity theft protection.
The rear compartment opens up in a TSA-approved position to store your laptop and tablet without having to remove it when going through those hectic security lines at the airport. The sleeves that hold your laptop and tablet are padded so no additional sleeves to hold your devices are required with this bag.
For those regular travelers and “on-the-goers”, a convenient rear sleeve quickly slides over your rolling luggage handles for secure carry-free mobility.
Do you have a concealed carry handgun for personal protection? Perfect. The ProShield Pro has another special feature that you’ll certainly appreciate. Located on the backside of the Pro backpack on the bottom half is a concealed carry compartment with a built-in gun holster that fits nearly all handguns.
Last, but not least, the ProShield Pro is extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The shoulder straps and back are padded for comfort, while the back is ergonomically designed to prevent sweat and discomfort. No annoying backaches and shoulder pains with this backpack!
As you can see, the features and appearance of this backpack are great. However, the ProshieldPro backpack also provides for lifesaving protection in a Level IIIA built-in backing. This backpack is tested according to standard NIJ-STD-0108.01 Level IIIA and provides assurance for the ever-growing threats in airports and other public places.

Bulletproof backpacks put to the test

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —After the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida in which 17 people were killed, the debate over gun control and gun safety, and especially about how to protect our children, is taking center stage.
One local company told WESH 2 News it plans to be part of the solution.
At an industrial park on Sanford's west side, you can find Yasir Sheikh.
He's the president of Guard Dog Security, a company that created so-called bulletproof backpacks aimed at protecting children.
A father of two, Sheikh came up with the idea shortly after the Sandy Hook school shooting.
"We felt like there was going to be a continuous need for this type of product," Sheikh said.
And there is.
Just two months into 2018, eight school shootings have already taken place.
"They're protected against 9 mm and .44 Magnum," Sheikh said. "If you have your back against the shooter, pull it over your head. Cover your back and vital organs. If you're up against a shooter, put in front of your head, and protect those vital organs."
But are these backpacks truly bulletproof?
Deputy Post is putting that question to the test at the Volusia County Sheriff's Office shooting range.
"You can feel it in there. It is definitely going to stop a 9 mm, no problem," Post said.
While the backpacks do protect against some lower-caliber weapons, they won't hold up against a high-velocity rife, such as the AR-15 used by the Parkland school shooter.
Despite that, sales of the backpacks have surged 150 percent since the massacre.
Every backpack online is sold out, which is not surprising to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
Chitwood said the numbers are proof that parents will try to do anything and everything to safeguard students.
Bulletproof backpacks in demand in wake of school shooting

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- As the number of school massacres across the nation has grown, some companies have taken steps to reinvent everyday items that students could use to protect themselves.
Enter: the bulletproof backpack. Companies that make the backpack claim it will be able to stop various types of ammunition.
"I guess that's just the harsh reality of the world we live in today," said parent Nick Barnett.
Samantha MacPherson with Guard Dog Security told Eyewitness News they started making and selling the backpacks after the tragedy at Sandy Hook. She added that they have seen an increase in demand for the product since Parkland. It comes with a certification showing it was tested by an independent lab certified by the National Institute of Justice and that it withstood a total of 10 shots from just over eight feet from a .44 caliber and a 9-millimeter handgun -- without penetration. "Being how close they were to it and it's just no penetration, it's just really amazing. It really would make somebody feel very secure," said Tonnie Coleman at Central Spy Shop in northwest Houston.
Bulletproof backpacks look to protect children from school shootings

In light of one of the deadliest mass school shooting in modern U.S. history, the question, ‘What can be done to prevent this?’ is being pondered by many. But, one Florida based company has been trying to help for years.
“At the time, it was kind of taboo,” said President of Guard Dog Security, Yasir Sheikh, on introducing his company’s bulletproof backpack.
“People weren’t really able to wrap their heads around it,” Sheikh added. Since the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting that killed 20 first-graders and six educators, Guard Dog Security has offered its bulletproof backpacks.
“A backpack, or whether it’s carrying some kind of product, some sort of security, you can never have 100% guarantee that you’re protected,” Sheikh said. “What you’re doing is putting yourself in a better position that doesn’t have it.”
Lockdown nation: Schools across the U.S. struggle to respond to mass shootings
February 16, 2018 By Joanna Slater
Watch Video Mr. Russell was previously an agent with the U.S. Secret Service and founded his own school-security company after the Newtown shooting. He now works with educational institutions from preschool to university in 40 states. He recommends that schools install a kind of lockdown siren to warn of a dangerous situation. It has the “same effect as a fire alarm but for a different emergency,” he said.
Faced with the prospect of repeated school shootings, some parents are resorting to increasingly desperate measures. Florida-based Guard Dog Security began selling bulletproof knapsacks after the Newtown shooting and now offers 12 different models. Yasir Sheikh, the company’s president, declined to say how many backpacks it had sold but said that demand surges after each mass shooting. On Thursday, the company said that it would donate half of the proceeds from such sales to the victims of the Parkland shooting.
Bulletproof backpacks: They are real, and they can save your child's life

A Florida-based company makes a backpack that they claim is tested and certified against 44.-caliber and 9-millimeter bullets.
To test that guarantee, Action News Jax brought the backpack to a shooting range and put it up against various firearms. With nothing inside the backpack, we used a .22 Magnum, a 9-millimeter, a .40-caliber handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun.
The armor alone was able to stop the handguns and shotgun from penetrating the backpack completely. We then added three textbooks into the backpack and fired the same handguns. The textbooks prevented the bullets from reaching the armor.

Central Florida company sells backpacks designed to stop bullets
SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A backpack made to stop bullets is being sold by a Central Florida company.
After a surge in school shootings, more parents are doing everything they can to keep their little ones safe.
"We've actually expanded the line because of the demand, and it's unfortunate but it's a sad reality that every time there's a shooting, there's a spike in sales," said Yasir Sheikh, with Sanford, Florida-based Guard Dog Security. "It's certified against 44 mags and 9 millimeters."
Project Guard Dog in Orlando
November 12, 2009
Skyline USA, official distributors of Guard Dog Security products, gave away hundreds of free pepper spray to the people of Downtown Orlando. This was in light of the deadly shooting which occurred in the Gateway Building on November 6, 2009 where Jason Rodriguez shot 6 and killed 1.
The event on November 12, 2009, dubbed Guard Dog Security in Orlando, aimed at helping the locals feel a greater sense of security after the shootings which led people nervous and shaken up. Yasir Sheikh, President of Skyline USA in Sanford, Florida, described the 3 goals of the event:
Bring a heightened sense of security to the people of Orlando
Raise awareness that more locals would be prepared for any violence
Prevent violent crime before it happens
The pepper sprays are non-lethal and are legal to carry in the state of Florida and in many parts of the United States. Guard Dog pepper sprays contain 18% OC (red pepper), a UV identifying dye, and an optional CS military tear gas. The sprays handed out included key rings to make them easily accessible.
The event was a great success as locals were extremely receptive and shared their positive feedback.
HOW TO USE YOUR PEPPERSPRAY
Congratulations, you’ve completed the first step in taking control of your own safety! You’ve bought a portable canister of pepper spray. Just toss that in your car and your good to go forever now…wrong.
Many people mistakenly believe that their work is complete after they’ve made the initial purchase of pepper spray, but they’re really doing a disservice to themselves by not learning more about what their pepper spray can do to potential attackers and how they can effectively be using this great self-defense tool!
First, what’s inside that can you’re carrying around? Pepper spray is a chemical compound, with the most important component being the active ingredient capsaicin. Capsaicin is made by first extracting oleoresin capsicum (OC) from plants containing capsicum (i.e. chili peppers). The OC is then finely ground, and the capsaicin is extracted from that using a solvent, such as ethanol. These ingredients don’t sound pleasant and that’s exactly what makes pepper spray so great to use in the event of an assault. What happens to your attacker when you spray them with this stuff?
The mucous membranes in the eyes, nose, lungs and throat become intensely inflamed.
Temporary blindness, breathing becomes difficult, along with a runny nose and coughing.
Burning sensation all over affected areas of the skin
These effects can last anywhere from 20 to 90 minutes!
What’s even more important than knowing how much power is packed into your little can of pepper spray is knowing how to use it and use it effectively!
ALWAYS have it handy when you’re anywhere by yourself, especially at night, walking to your car, etc. You never want to be caught in a scary situation where you’re busy fumbling around for it in your purse. Keep it on your car keychain or at the top of your bag in its own pocket so you can easily find it and have it in your hands already before leaving any building alone. For those that go running outside, I would suggest carrying a pepper spray that is attached to a hand sleeve, like this one here.
Hold the can properly with your index finger on the red trigger for a good grip and the canister firmly in your palm.
Flip the red trigger with your index finger from the left side safety position to the center “ready” position.
Hold down on the red trigger and spray your attacker from ear to ear, then eyebrows down.
After you’ve sprayed, do NOT stand there and admire your work (although tempting). Get back immediately and make space between you and the attacker.
On paper, sure, it looks like a lot of steps, but it truly isn’t hard to accomplish.
Always be aware of your surroundings Don’t have your face glued to your phone Be prepared for the unexpected.
My best suggestion, if you have some trepidation about using pepper spray correctly, is to also purchase a can of practice water spray and practice the above steps in your home or yard at a target. For even added accuracy and confidence, you can even purchase the Guard Dog AccuFire, a keychain pepper spray with built-in laser target like this one here. Remember, the key to protection is accessibility of your pepper spray!
